《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 95: Reflection

Adrius sat in his room going over his plans for the thousandth time. He had the map; the inheritance is waiting for him to go and snatch it.
“That is of course, if there is an inheritance and it is not just an old map that leads to nowhere.” He murmured quietly, he didn’t have his mask on and he missed the feeling of the familiar weight on his face.
It was very weird, it is right he wore a mask in his previous world, but he wore it because it was essential. His world had technologies that can identify a person by just a glance. So, he had to wear a mask to hide his face, after all, he was an international criminal.
But now, it is almost like he doesn’t feel whole without his mask, it is like something is being ripped out of his soul every time he takes the mask off. It was hell when he was Rhax, the urge to wear a mask was too hard, the urge to hide his face, to hide his identity and to hide his expressions was too much. But he pulled it off somehow. And now it is in the past.
His time in Valaq has to be one of the worst times he lived though, he couldn’t use his magic, had to serve a mortal, and had to fake being in love with that specific mortal.
“The whole situation was like those cheesy romance novels that teenage girls read in my world. The love triangle and the bad boy who is actually nice but is just broken, and the heroine has to choose between the handsome noble or the peasant bad boy. But too bad for Andromeda, the only choice she had was to die quietly or scream while dying.” Adrius shook his head, he noticed that he was talking to himself more often than not. It didn’t disturb him, in fact talking to himself makes his thoughts more believable. So, if he thinks of a very bad idea then when he says it out loud, he can hear how idiotic it was. Thus, saving him a lot of pain in the ass in the future.

He sometimes thought about Andromeda Valq.
He doesn’t regret what he did to her, regret has long since left him in his life. He has done worse things than manipulating a woman. But what made him think about her was the state she was in before she died. It was fascinating, he always heard that if the brain is pushed too far then it would break. He never saw it once, mostly because he is very bad at torturing and his victims die before he can see it. That's for physical pain. As for his mental experiments, most of his victims kill themselves before he can study them.
So, seeing that breaking point in front of him was fascinating, because of how strong it was. In mere seconds Andromeda went from knowing him and the traitor to not knowing any one of them and thinking that Rhax was her husband and not the traitor that was beside her.
It was very fascinating; Adrius saw the moment her mind broke. Her eyes went glassy and then lost some color, they were dull for a microsecond and then regained their color, but it was different than before. They were still the golden eyes he saw every day for almost 4 weeks, but there was something different, no, wrong with them. They almost didn’t look human.
He couldn’t see her soul in her eyes like he used to, it is like her soul cracked too. And that is why he is so interested, because if a soul can crack by a trauma or extreme pain, either physically or mentally, then he can use that on his soul experiments.
“Speaking of souls.” He looked at his mini lab, it was tied up, Mary did a good job in cleaning after he went away. She is due in 2 or 1 month; he can’t remember and doesn’t care actually. Because the moment he senses the baby is ready to get out he will rip Mary’s stomach and take the little shit out of it. Looking at his lab he saw the small white orbs in their own see-through container. There were 4 in total, one was Emillia, the bitch who plotted against him when he first came to the academy. Solely to make him her pet, when he is feeling down, he tortures her until her soul crack, then he heals her and leaves her alone for some time to fully heal. Then he does it again.

Then there was another soul, and this soul was the loudest and the one he hated the most. It was the soul of Adrius Caseo, the original Adrius, the one he took his body from. He really wanted to kill it but he made a promise to it and he has to see it through. He promised that he would kill the entire Caseo family and erase the name from history. He broke several promises before, but this one he is not going to break, especially since that fucker damaged his soul and made him this fucked up in the head and having multiple personalities. He knew that he was sick in the head, that was the only explanation to why he acts like a completely different person when wearing his mask. He was not stupid after all; a man doesn’t just change 360 degrees.
It is troubling, but he can live with it until he can find a cure. He was after all in the magus world, where magic is present. Not in his old world where such diseases were incurable.
Continuing, next was the soul he got by chance, the soul of a rank 3 magus apprentice. The soul of Oliver the Mouthless, a rank 3 magus apprentice from the Pegasus academy, the archrival of the Raven academy. He still hadn’t made it into a potion to increase his magic powers. That is because the potion takes a full month to finish and he didn’t have time to make it. The same goes for his newest soul, the soul of the traitor Sybal the White Stag. The man he killed, the man who betrayed the ancient teachings of the magus of old. He knew that he can’t go and explore the inheritance ground with his current powers, he has to at least be peak rank 3 to at least have a chance to survive in that inheritance ground. Magus are known for leaving multiple mechanisms to protect their inheritance grounds, so only the person who can survive everything they put in their way can take the inheritance.
And he felt like it was the same thing here too with this inheritance. His magic power is still at 33 points, he only slightly advanced but he couldn’t cultivate when he was undercover because of the energy he radiates when he cultivated. Now that he has time, he thinks it is time for him to eat some souls.
