《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 94: Angry at!

It was time for the judgment!
They all have finished their poisons, some of them used snake venom, some used scorpion and some used plants. William used a combination of a snake venom and a scorpion. He found the recipe in the book he took; it was an old recipe from the date that was written on the book.
It was not that complicated; it was fairly easy to make. But for some reason, he had a bad feeling about it. That’s because it is stated in the book that the finished product should have a faint blue color, but his is very dark blue. So, he had a bad feeling about it.
He considered escaping, after all, his poison looked like shit and didn't even look like the recipe said would look like. So, if Dark Eyes judged his poison as the worst, he would have to drink it. He is still a rank 1 magus apprentice, so this type of poison can kill him, maybe it will take some time but it will kill him if he didn’t have an antidote. Which unfortunately doesn’t exist in the book he used. He searched the whole book to find it but couldn’t. And when he asked Adrius, he was told that a good poison master doesn’t need an antidote. That’s because their body is immune to poison.
William will not lie, at that moment he really wanted to kill the Dark Eyed Demon. He of course didn’t show it on his face, nor in his manner. He was not an idiot; a person like Dark Eyes will kill him for the sole reason of not showing enough teeth when smiling at him.
The girl that asked Dark Eyes out went on first, she had a smile on her face. She held a container with red liquid, it didn’t look like blood, but it had its color. Dark Eyes sat in his chair; he made a hum when the girl presented him the poison. “Ah,” he said in that cold-quiet manner he always talked in, he then took the container and opened the lid. To William’s horror he drank the whole poison. William didn’t look around to see the look of absolute horror on his classmates’ faces.

“I see, you made a poison by using Inex flower and scorpion venom. This is in the top 100 most deadly mortal poisons. It had a good amount of everything and was made perfectly. You passed.” Adrius made a humming noise to himself.
The girl shrieked and hopped from one leg to another. Clearly, she was happy that she did well, or was she happy that Adrius complimented her? William will never know.
The girl went back to her chair and sat; she had a big smile on her face.
The rest of the exam went smoothly, until a girl that looked 13-14 came up to Adrius and presented him with her poison.
Adrius looked at the vile in front of him, and the next second William and everyone in the classroom were on the floor shaking and some even pissed themselves.
‘What the heck is this aura? It is like sensing thousands of people dying, what kind of killing intent is this?’ William thought in horror. He felt his body press on the ground, an invisible force pressing against his body.
He swore he heard the sound of bones breaking, but no one shouted. He felt like time had stopped in place, because he didn’t know he was on the floor for a second or a million years.
After minutes that felt like billions of years to William, Adrius Caseo, the man that was responsible for this, spoke. “I give you the chance,” his voice was like ice breaking, it sent shivers in William’s spine. “I gave you a chance to make me a poison, an honor that I didn’t give to anyone before this day. And you give me this shit?” William knew Adrius was talking to the girl who gave him her vile last. But he still felt the words hit him in his heart.

“What is stopping me from killing all of you miserable lot?” His voice became even colder if that was even possible.
William was afraid, no, scratch that, he was terrified! This man in front of him that just threatened to kill them all, has killed dozens of fellow students. Many of them were not in the yearly exam, making it a crime. But he has not been busted for some reason. Even though everyone knows it is him that did the murder. Every time a person questions the Order Hall as to why they didn’t arrest Adrius Caseo, they just answer that there is not enough evidence.
So, William was 100% sure that even if he killed them today, he would not get shit for doing it. He was after all a rank 3 magus apprentice and they were rank 1. And no one will care about a bunch of dead rank 1.
After several seconds of silence that made William’s heart race, his heart was going a million beats in a second. He was surprised about how he didn’t die yet. While he was thinking about his family and how he would never see them again. ‘Mother, Father, I’m sorry, you will never see me again, I only hope that this man will leave my corpse intact so you could have your closure.’ He felt angry tears coming up. He was angry at Dark Eyes, he was angry at his arrogance, he was angry at the Raven Academy for making this murderer a teacher. And he was angry at the world for being the way it was, the world where the powerful is a god, but the weak is less than trash.
He prepared for his death when he heard Dark Eyes speak. “But I will not.” William was in shock; he will not die! He will not die! He almost danced but the pressure was still on.
“But,” The word made something inside him stop, he thought it was his heart, but he wasn’t sure, “You will not get out of this unharmed.” With those words, William felt a sharp pain in his left eye and it went black. He screamed and heard others scream too. Suddenly he could move his hands, he immediately touched it, but he only touched red liquid and he couldn’t find his eye. He maimed them! The Demon then spoke. “I took your left eye this time, the next time it will be your left hand and then your arm, until there is none of you left. From this day on, you are under me. I own you now.”

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
