《Space Lord (on Rewrite)》Chapter 20: Taming

All the way back till the Freinos inner domain, Lucia smiled and caressed one of the eggs, it angered the hydra that burnt her with her gaze, spitting the acid from time to time. However, Lucia didn't pay attention to that and only showed her fist, making a mysterious smile on her lips.
Theo could only shake his head and look at the hydra with condolence, understanding well what would happen to Hydra if it successfully becomes a guardian beast. Many tamers would take care of it, but it would also become one of the favorite Lucia's toys to play with.
Throughout centuries, tamers were hunting after the monsters, they created many different techniques and their own methods to hunt and catch on them, beginning from the small rabbits and finishing with huge dragons. However, tamers always strived to catch and tame those monsters that were unique among their species or those with big potential. Though it was relatively easy to hunt and catch most of the monsters, it was 180 degrees different when it came to taming process. The grown-up monsters had their own experience, instincts, and intellect, some of them could even talk, and most of them would better die than become tamed and submit to humans.
So, it was quite rare when tamers succeeded in taming already grown-up monsters. However, there were occurrences when tamers succeed, using different methods, beginning with forcing and finishing with making a contract with intellectual monsters. This process was filled with many obstacles and hidden dangers, but if tamers succeeded, such unique monsters would serve humans and would be considered guardian beasts. Though it was dangerous and difficult, the demand was also big enough, and tamers continued to look after such monsters. Therefore, if they failed with the grown-up beast, they would just move or look for eggs or cubs because it was much more possible to succeed with the cubs or eggs. Though it was more resources consuming, it was much better because tamers could nurture and teach such monsters that would be absolutely loyal to their owners.
Possessing a guardian beast among their tamed monsters was very prestigious. Strong guardian beast could not only protect their owners but also bring glory. However, despite the prestige and huge demand, few forces and organizations could find truly strong and unique guardian beasts.
Though the hydra that Theo bought from the auction wasn't one of the unique and strongest monsters, it belonged to quite rare mutated swamp hydras, was bigger than ordinary swamp hydras, and could spit out acid. Those 2 factors made the hydra quite unique due to its ability and potential, so even family tamers that were already quite pissed off by Lucia would be happy to work with such a monster.
The family taming territory occupied quite a big territory in the Freinos inner domain not far from the city. There were several administrative buildings, monster yards, arenas, and other structures where tamers could work and train their beasts.
Theo, Lucia, and some guardian knights moved a bit further from the cage with the hydra, arriving early to the taming territory. There were many different people out there, but all of them had their own monster near to them. Some of them were riding a big wolf, while others played with big cats.
In fact, Lucia recognized many of those monsters and waved at them.
However, the moment, tamers and monsters saw or smelled her, they began sweating. Tamers quickly darkened their expression and felt how a huge headache appeared out of nowhere. So, they quickly bowed to Theo and Luci, remembering that they had things to do, and rushed to return monsters to their yards before they still had a chance to disappear.

A moment later, quite a similar scene began happening across the taming territory when the tamers rushed in the direction of the monster yards.
Of course, there were some new tamers there that didn't know what was happening, so one of them quickly caught up with the running tamer and couldn't hold from asking.
"Elder, what's happening? Why everyone is rushing to the monster yards? It's the middle of the afternoon, the best time to work and train with monsters," asked the tamer with a confused expression on his face, riding the grey wolf in the process.
The elder was riding on the strange species of horse, and his horse frightened a bit when the grey wolf approached it from the right.
"Damn it! Get out of me with your wolf! My horse fears wolves!" said the elder, increasing the distance between them, "Lady distress is here! You better run, if you don't want to die from working,"
The young tamer slowed down a bit, thinking about his words, but his expression paled moments later when he remembered certain old stories about "Lady distress". Gulping a quite huge portion of saliva, he raised his head and began running in the direction of the yards as fast as possible.
The further, they moved the more resolute scenes they saw. Almost all the tamers and their monsters disappeared in just several moments since the moment when Lucia appeared in the taming territory.
Theo could shake his head and smile when he looked at Lucia that was quite confused because of the strange scenes in front of her.
Lucia also noticed his smile, and turned, looking at him with a clear question in her eyes.
"Seems that you have forgotten what you have done the last time you came here?" asked Theo, reminding her about her previous visit here.
Lucia furrowed her brows, pondering for several moments.
A moment later, she remembered the last time when she came to ask for a unique gift for her next birthday, taming masters gathered all the tamers and announced about Lucia's order and they started working and trying to breed the rare type of rabbit that had super soft fur. As a result, tamers worked for the whole year, breeding and nurturing rabbits. Besides, it was quite difficult to breed them because they were very demanding and were inactive only in the short time period at day and night. So, tamers had to look after them both during days and nights to increase the probability of a unique rabbit appearance. As a result, when they finally succeeded and nurtured a rabbit with super soft fur, almost all the tamers had super red eyes and super black pouches under the eyes. From that moment they began calling Lucia "Lady Distress" instead of the young lady.

A short time later, Theo and Lucia stopped in front of the administrative building. Just as they approached the building, a short old man appeared from the entrance. He looked tired, had red eyes, and it was clear that he didn't sleep for many days, so he didn't even stop to look at Theo and Lucia, but increased his speed and ran in the opposite direction from them.
However, Lucia's guardian knights expected such a reaction and already blocked the way of escape, stopping the old man several meters away from Theo and Lucia.

A moment later when he realized that he won't escape, he inwardly cursed his apprentice for not waking him up and telling him about Lucia. So, he could only release a tired sigh of the man that has already submitted to his inevitable fate.
He turned around with a helpless smile on his lips before bowing to Theo and Lucia.
"Young lady, what have you brought you here to our humble abode?" asked Kevin, one of the taming masters, "Have you come here to take a look at the new monsters you sent us from the arena. If so, I can quickly find a person that would show them to you."
"I need you to help me tame the monster," said Lucia, devastating the last hope of the old man to sleep in the coming days.
"I see," said Kevin, releasing a much more exhausted sigh.
"What type of monster do you need me to tame?" asked Kevin, "You can just send it to us, and we will tame it for you, there is no need for the young lady to come here herself."
"No, it's not just another monster I sent for you to tame, it's different this time and all the taming masters will have to participate in taming," explained Lucia.
Of course, Kevin nodded to Lucia's words, but only he himself knew that he would just give the monster to his apprentice and other tamers to tame while he would enjoy sleeping.
"Please, wait a bit, it would be soon delivered here. Or you may leave, and I would ask another taming master for help."
Kevin nodded instinctively while he was still thinking about the tamers to who he would instruct this job.
A short time later, Kevin smiled when he finished composing a small list of tamers that he didn't like or those who enjoyed working extra, but his expression changed when he raised his head and saw a monster in the cage in distance.
His professional curiosity and passion for monsters got picked momentaneously, and without even saying a word he rushed in the direction of the hydra.
He ran around the cage, inspecting the hydra from all angles. He began jumping and laughing with joy, and even his red eyes and the tired face disappeared when he saw the hydra.
He didn't finish laughing when one of the guardian knights approached him with the 3 eggs on the salver.
The moment he saw them, he made the happiest facial expression he could before turning and rushing back at Lucia that turned around to show her dissatisfaction.
"Young lady, please allow this humble one to tame this hydra and its eggs," cried Kevin, falling on his knees before her.
Lucia didn't react to his words and made a "Hmm" sound before turning around.
"Young lady, please forgive, this humble one, I would never again complain about you to the Lord," cried Kevin, clearly understanding Lucia's dissatisfaction. "Young lady, I would promise to tame personally all the monsters you would send to us, and would never complain about it. Just let me tame this hydra and its cubs."
Lucia pondered a bit before turning around and nodding to Kevin with a satisfied expression on her face.
"Okay, I will ask you then, please tame this hydra, and create the 1st guardian beast of the Freinos family."
The moment he heard her words, Keving quickly stood up, adjusted his clothes before looking and bowing to Lucia.
"You may not worry, I, Kevin, the tame master promise to tame this hydra and its cubs," said Kevin with burning flame in his eyes before turning and looking at the guardian knights, "Take the hydra and its eggs to the main arena."
Kevin rushed back to the administrative building and appeared with a small object in his hand a moment later.
Infusing his battle energy, the object activated, and a moment later a voice resounded across the taming territory.
"All tamers and tame masters, gather in the main arena now. I repeat all tamers and tame masters gather in the main arena now!" said Kevin before deactivating the object.
Finishing making an announcement, he turned around and rushed towards the cage to take another look at the hydra.
***
The main taming arena was the biggest and the sturdiest, it also had several layers of protection to not let monsters escape from the taming procedure.
Now the cage was placed in the center of the arena while the tame masters together with Kevin surrounded it from all sides.
There were also hundreds of seats around the arena that were already filled to the brink. Theo, Lucia, and their guardian knights were now sitting in the special pavilion with the best visibility of the arena.
They were talking and drinking juice while tamers below were making the last checks before the procedure. A moment later, a magic shield appeared, closing the arena while Kevin finished his discussions with other tame masters.
He exchanged glances with his colleagues before looking at those who were outside. A moment later, he approached the shield, signaling to tamers to place the eggs in the most durable and strongest side of the shield.
Three eggs appeared behind the center of the magic shield in the salver of the holding tamer. As if feeling something, the hydra quickly moved her glance and found her 3 eggs.
Kevin nodded to his colleagues and a moment later, all of them activated shielding barriers before one of them approached the cage, opening it.
Feeling the appearance of the way out, the hydra roared, before rushing out of the cage.
The moment it left it, the 1-meter green-scaled body with a long neck appeared before the audience. Roaring, and spitting the huge portion of the acid, it attacked the cage behind her.
The cage that had no magic protection from the outside, got quickly disintegrated by the acid, leaving only slightly damaged parts responsible for inner magic protection.
The moment the hydra got rid of the place where it spent quite many hours, it turned around, analyzing the new location.
Noticing Kevin and others, it stopped its gaze on their barriers for several moments before turning her head and looking at her eggs behind the shield.
Roaring, the hydra sped up, approaching the magic shield.

(Un)Paralleled
Based on the novel by MGHT, Unparalleled. Things are not as they were. In this alternate story, follow our Hero(?) as he traverses the world. But, is this world really the one we know? I will be using MGHT's original story as a guideline, and applying my own touch to it. Due to there being a lack of information on the wider scope of things, I'll be throwing in things that may not adhere to the original author's plans. Then again, what fun is there in reading something that has already been done? Tags and genres stated are subject to change without notice, be it the addition or removal of tags. Cover art is a fanart I found online a long time ago. Character is Gyuki from Nurarihyon No Mago.
