Three days later...

Solana and Solai slept peacefully as Ms. Georgia and the doctor watched. Last week Solana had a home check, which she passed. Over the last couple of days, she had been waiting for her foster parenting results from the state and judge. She had became nervous, being that the wait felt like years, but she was finally about to receive good news.

"So she's now able to stay here without me." Ms. Georgia whispered to the doctor.

"Well that's good to hear. Would you like to deliver your news first or do you suggest that I go first?" The doctor asked, writing down all of Solai's vitals that showed up on the monitor.

"I'll go first, I think we could all use some good news right now." Ms. Georgia nodded. She walked over to the hospital bed and shook Solana awake. Solana's eyes popped open, immediately holding Solai tighter. "It's me." Ms. Georgia said, making Solana relax.

"Everything okay?" Solana asked, looking down feeling Solai squirm in her arms.

"Well I'm here to deliver the good news." Ms. Georgia smiled. "So you're an official foster parent. The judge and the state were very impressed with all of your parenting results. I also brung up the possible idea of adopting Solai, and they're giving you a three-month trial period. If you continue to pass all visitation checks with me, and continue to have a clean background, we can move forward with that process."

Solana cheesed excitedly as she heard every word that spewed out of Ms. Georgia's mouth. "So when she's discharged from here she can come to my house?" She asked to be sure she was comprehending correctly.

"That's right. My supervisor also said that she wants a invite to the birthday party." Ms. Georgia added, with a small smile.

"Yes ma'am. I had the invitations printed out last week, I'll give you two, one for her and you." Solana eagerly nodded. She was beaming with excitement, and she couldn't wait to tell her family the good news.

"Now being that Solai is still a child of the state which means she's not adopted as of yet means that they're still some boundaries. Her identity is to remain private at all times. As far as her birthday I know lots of pictures will be taken, so I'll ask my supervisor and the judge to give a one-time pass. If that pass is granted you're the only one who can post her and your page has to go on private mode. Solai's safety is first priority." Ms. Georgia explained.

"I'll post the pictures and then delete them the same day." Solana nodded.

"Now we'll get into the other boundaries a little later, but for right now the doctor has some news for us." Ms. Georgia stated. Solana's smile dimmed once she caught a glimpse of the doctor's facial expression.

"First and foremost, congratulations to the both of you. I understand that Solai has a birthday coming up in the next week. Unfortunately if she doesn't gain at least five pounds by the end of this week, I won't be able to discharge her. She's still failing to thrive."

Solana sighed, looking down at Solai. "Can I bring her food as well? I know that she's on the nasogastric feeding tube but can she also start a solid food diet?" Solana asked.

"Well the feeding tube has been giving her the nutrients that she lacked, but we can start her on a solid food diet. It won't necessarily interfere with the feeding tube." The doctor nodding, writing down notes in Solai's chart.

"So if she does gain the five pounds she'll be able to be discharged?" Solana asked for clarity.

"Yes."

Solai opened her eyes from the constant talking and clutched Solana's shirt with one of her hands. She leaned over just a little to point to her coloring books.

"You want your coloring books?" Solana asked, noticing Solai's gestures. Solai nodded her head, doing the grabbing motions with her hands.

"Can you say yes?" Solana asked, watching Solai's mouth. Solai still hadn't said anything, no matter how many times anyone tried to get her to talk.

Solai nodded her head, parting her lips. Solana's eyes widened when she saw Solai's mouth move. She watched as Solai nodded her head and mouthed the word 'yes'.

"Ms. Georgia she just tried to talk." Solana cheesed. "I asked her to say yes, and she did. Well she mouthed it, so no sound came out. That's progress right?"

Ms. Georgia smiled, nodding her head. "I told you that you would be the first one to get her to talk. I bet she'll say her first word at her birthday party." She nodded.

"You think so?" Solana chuckled, leaning over to grab Solai's coloring book. "Well first we have to get some food in her little body. Is it okay if I run to make a quick meal for her? It won't be long."

"No, not at all. I have to stay and finish up some paperwork anyway. I should have all of the documents legalized in a couple hours so that tomorrow you can pick up your certificate and everything." Ms. Georgia replied.

"Yes ma'am." Solana grinned. She was so excited that she was close to completing one of her long-term goals. Even though she was very nervous, she had all the faith in the world that she would be a great mom.

"Okay Lai, I'll be back later." She said, using one of the many nicknames that she had given Solai.

Solai shook her head, mouthing the words 'no.' As Solana tried to get up, Solai wrapped her legs around Solana's torso tightly.

"It's okay I promise that I'll be back." Solana pouted, now standing up fully, while holding Solai. Solana knew that the only time that Solai would allow her to leave was when she was sleep, and right now she was wide awake.

Solai shook her head, laying it in the crook of Solana's neck."You want Mr. Bear to lay with you until I get back?" Solana asked, pointing to the human-sized bear. Solai nodded her head, now pointing to the bear as well.

Solana went to get Mr. Bear and then finally convinced Solai to lay back down in the hospital bed. Solai started to snuggle into the bear, showing her bestfriend the love that she always wanted.

Once Solana noticed that Solai was distracted enough, she slipped out of the door. She pressed the elevator door beaming with the excitement of being an official Foster Mom. "God you really are working in my favor." She said to herself.

"I'm so freaking nervous." Solana stressed for the tenth time. The whole entire family was at her apartment for dinner. Heaven and Zylin brought all of their kids, while Jayda and Cane brung their two.

"They will be ok." Heaven nodded.

Solana had told Heaven and Jayda the good news and they were so excited, but it was now time to tell the kids. She didn't know how they would react, which scared her.

"Nanny can we eat now?" Zaloni groaned. Solana was cooking a big pot of seafood alfredo with salmon bites. It was a meal that she mastered, and the whole family loved it.

"Almost ready babe." Solana chuckled.

"So I have an announcement for the guys and for the kids." Solana stated, getting everyone's attention. "I don't know how you guys will feel, but I hope you guys will continue to accept me." She said, feeling the tears brim her eyes.

"Is you pregnant man?" Zylin asked, standing to his feet. "I'll beat his ass. Who did it?"

"Nigga sit your ass down and let her talk." Heaven mugged. Zylin smacked his lips and sat back down in his spot, making the kids chuckle.

"I'm not pregnant." Solana sniffled. "I have been blessed to become a little girl's foster mommy. I've been taking parenting classes and spending majority of my time with her. Today I was officially named her temporary mommy. Once I pass a couple more checkpoints, I'll be her forever mommy." She explained.

"I hope she don't act like dooda ugly self." Daloni smirked. Zaloni burst out laughing, egging Daloni to keep going.

"So you're basically saying that you have a child now?" Nevaeh asked, crossing her arms over her chest. "That's what you're saying?"

"Congratulations nanny. I want to meet her." Angel smiled.

"Me too." Zuri cheesed.

"Hello! So is that why you barely hang out with me now, and never answer your phone?" Nevaeh asked, walking closer to the kitchen island.

Heaven sighed, shaking her head. "Nevaeh." She said in a warning tone.

"Well Vaeh, I've just been so busy with taking all of the classes and still trying to manage the shop. I promise it's not on purpose that I don't spend time with you guys anymore." Solana replied, feeling her heart beat against her chest harder and harder. The last thing she wanted was for her nieces and nephews to feel neglected by her.

"Whatever. Can we go home now?" Nevaeh asked, rolling her eyes. She was not only hurt, but angry. Solana had been like her best friend since she was in elementary school, and she was angry that she was having to share.

"Nevaeh don't be disrespectful." Heaven stated. "We're eating dinner here."

"Well I'm not hungry." Nevaeh shrugged, with an attitude.

"Yeah take that attitude out of your body before I take it out for you." Heaven scoffed.

"And you're a liar because you said that nobody would ever come between us." Nevaeh said, turning her attention back to Solana. "Liar."

The tears that Solana was trying to hold in slipped down her face. "I-I never meant to—I'm sorry." She shook her head, rushing to her room closing the door behind her.

Heaven wasted no time grabbing Nevaeh by her shirt. "Do you want me to beat your ass or something? You have a right to be sad, but you will not talk to her that way I don't care how mad you are. Solana is grown and she don't have to answer to your ass at all!"

"She's starting her own family and you better learn to like it, do you understand me?" Heaven gritted, tightening her grip on Nevaeh's shirt.

Nevaeh cleared her throat, nodding her head. "Yes ma'am."

"You will apologize to her." Heaven added, letting Nevaeh go. "Talking about liar, girl I should wear your ass out right now."

"Dooda got in trouble!" KJ taunted.

"You want your next?" Jayda mugged, taking her sandal off. KJ shook his head, running to his dad.

"Let me go check on her." Heaven sighed. Jayda wasted no time following behind. They entered Solana's room to see her sitting in her prayer corner with her knees pulled into her chest.

"She will get over it, don't you let anyone steal your joy. This is supposed to be a proud moment for you Solana." Heaven said softly, sitting down next to her.

"I just don't want them to be mad at me. I don't want anyone to be mad at me. I don't want them to feel like that I'll forget about them, because I won't." Solana sniffled.

"Babe sometimes you just have to continue to do you. Are you happy? Are you excited to be Solai's mom?" Jayda asked, taking a seat on the other side of Solana.

"Yes. I really am growing to love her so fast." Solana nodded.

"So that's all that matters." Jayda stated. "Nevaeh is just hurt right now. We all know that you guys used to be together like white on rice." She added. "It'll just take time for her to adjust, but you don't let that stop your joy."

"Jayda is right. Your happiness is all that matters. You providing the best life that you can for baby girl is all that matters. We're all here to support you, so just continue to do what you do best." Heaven chimed in.

Solana listened to every word that her big sisters were saying, knowing that they were right. She was happy with the decision that she made of becoming Solai's mom, and that's all that mattered right now. "I love you guys."

"I love you too." Heaven smiled.

"I love you too boo. Now wipe your eyes." Jayda nodded. They all went in for a group hug before they stood to their feet. They then exited the room allowing for Solana to get herself together.

"I bet I'll beat you to the kitchen." Heaven challenged Jayda.

Jayda scoffed. They both ran down the hall tripping over Zuri's shoes making them fall to the ground. "I won!" Jayda giggled.

hello!

So Solai is officially Solai's foster mommy!! How y'all feeling? Y'all think this will be a good challenge for Solana?

While we received good news, we also received some bad. Unfortunately Solai still isn't gaining weight, and if she doesn't she won't be released for her birthday party. How y'all feel about that?

Y'all think that Solai will suprise everyone and gain that weight by eating real food, or will she be in the hospital for her birthday?

On the other hand Solai is making some progress with her speech!!! Y'all think this is just a step closer to her finally saying her first words?? Why y'all think Solai even mouthed the words today?

So Solana finally broke the news to the kids, and while everyone accepted it Nevaeh didn't..

Do y'all understand why Nevaeh is upset? Was she being disrespectful or just expressing how she felt?

Y'all think Solana was just overwhelmed? Or was she hurt that Nevaeh didn't accept the good news?

Y'all think Heaven's discipline is pretty solid? Or too harsh?

And last but not least!! Y'all think this will put a huge blob in Solana and Nevaeh's bond/relationship?
