《Refining the Heavens》B3, Chapter 61: Vestimore Must Not Survive

An unholy rage seethed through Principal Gai’s body.
“The Third Prince?! He actually chose the Third Prince, that VILLIAN Regalius Vestimore!?”
The Emperor’s connection with Lord Yue was a secret not many are privy to, and the one behind the Dark Gods family was publically known to be the Third Prince. No matter how he connived, losing the Snowdrifts to the Regalius was impossible in his schemes.
The worst scenario he had estimated is the boy joining the Free Factions. But, in the near future, when his Lord, the Fifth Prince, takes over the Free Factions the Snowdrifts will still be theirs.
It is only a matter of time, an unnecessary detour.
By now, the Free Factions joining his prince is almost a certainty. The third largest group will combine with the second, and together they will overtake the Third Prince and his group. In time, they will become greater than even the Emperor’s forces, and make Galahad relinquish his throne.
But, never in his wildest imaginations that the boy would join their enemies. Hadn’t those under the Third Prince already offended the Snowdrifts?
Didn’t the Devilheart and Steel Rose families had openly attacked the boy and his business?
Was it all a plot?
No, it couldn’t be. They were ready to finish off the Snowdrifts’ shop when the boy was away, and the Devilheart’s heir apparent had tried to murder Kairos more than once.
The principal howled with anger in his private office, but the bellow quickly turned into pathetic sobs.
He cannot accept such a result. His heart is filled with denial. How can things turn out this way?
Whatever Kairos had said to him in the office today, he has no choice but to wholly convey it to Duncedord Vestimore, his master, the Fifth Prince.
Duncedord may look friendly with his round face, beady eyes and a constant smile on his face, but his character is no doubt in complete contrast with his looks.
Everything he had done is definitely according to his master. The deaths during the mock battlefield examination were by the hands of the Devilheart’s heir. At that time the Fifth Prince was not yet able to contest with the Third Prince, and so Gai had decided to hand the controlling power over to the Devilheart family.
At that time, Prince Duncedord even praised him for his wisdom.
Likewise, the Blue Blood faction that had been assaulting commoners are backed by several ancient, and powerful families. At this stage when they are preparing to take on the Third Prince, why would they create unnecessary trouble?

However, because of what Kairos said today, the Principal did not doubt that despite the prince knowingly allowed all these, he will be cast away like old clothes.
He will truly become a nobody. Everything he has will be gone.
Even his position as principal is a question now.
The threats that he had prepared, to destroy Kairos’ reputation by revealing the liberties the boy had received from him, and then take away their rights to skip class, it has become unusable now.
The boy had taken all the benefits from him and walked away leaving him with nothing.
All in a few sentences.
Because of his Soul Slip to the prince, he couldn’t even cover up the truth.
His sobbing did not end for the next few hours.
He was defeated so completely he could not even revenge himself.
Without Prince Duncedord as his backer, he is truly a small fry now. The words Kairos said echoed in his mind, “Before asking if I am above defeat, first considered if your own demise will come should you raise your weapons at us.”
While a certain someone was panicking, Kairos, on the other hand, had a good rest, a shower, and then went for his next class, Pill Creation.
Without even pulling out a blade, he managed to remove the immediate threat of Snowdrifts, and his focus returned to learn new skills earnestly.
…..
The same time at another place, a tremendous scheme is being plotted.
In a large, ancient cellar underneath the Sahara Desert, two groups were deep in discussion. Their topics were revolving around Kairos’ Star Runes weapons, Unknown Flame Sovereign, and most recently, his ability to sift through stone eggs. It is frightening how powerful their information acquisition ability is, considering the news was only a single day old.
A man with the emblem of the Phrixus family spoke with a steely voice, “The boy is far more dangerous than we expect. We must hasten our plans before the empire could restore their strength.”
For this person who wears the royal emblem of the Silent Lambs Empire to hold a meeting in such a place, the discussion they are having is doubtlessly something that could shake all of Gaia.
Opposite him is a person wearing the robes of the Devilheart family, Calculator Devilheart - the younger sister of Calculus. Her appearance was completely out of place in such a questionable venue. The twelve years old still sported rosy and chubby cheeks, but this child is a peerless tactical genius that would make those who underestimate her for her tender age to pay dearly.

Trusted even by the family head, her father, she was sent to this place instead of any other direct member of the Devilheart.
The little girl looked at the Phrixus delegate with a look full of unwillingness, then she shook her head in rejection, “The plans are far too soon to be carried out, and the foundation we are laying is barely complete.”
“No, we have no time to wait for your family to revolt and take over the throne. If we allow the factions of either prince to mature, it will be too late for us.”
“But, even so, if we act rashly, we will lose everything.”
The result of being caught as traitors is frightening.
The Devilheart family had planned for years to take over the empire and usurp Galahad Vestimore’s control. Even though they are stronger than any of the Three Great Noble Houses, they had willingly lowered their status and patiently worked under Lord Yue.
Now that their goal is near, they will be fools to lose it all by being hasty, but their partner appeared vehement.
“You forget the uncle of our Emperor is an elder in the immortal realm.”
“!!”
The young girl, Calculator, gave a hint of surprise on her face and asked, “Is… is that esteemed elder going to take action?”
Her expression made her look almost innocent and caused the Phrixus representative to shudder though he was nowhere near being cold.
If he had not known her better, he would have fallen for her façade, but he reminded himself that this girl is no different from a venomous viper.
“We will take care of your biggest problem,” he paused dramatically, then added, “by assassinating the Vestimore royal family.”
“Assassins? That’s ridiculous! Galahad is among the strongest of Gaia’s top ten practitioners, how can you assassinate him? Not only that, he is surrounded by powerful guards. Unless an immortal comes down, it is impossible.”
Everyone knows that immortals cannot take action in the mortal realms. Not only will they quickly lose their strength, but it is also rumoured that they are forbidden from interfering with the mortal-realm kingdoms.
They did not know the actual reason immortals and celestials had such restrains is due to the fear of accidentally setting free the devils sealed underground; after all, those wretched beings can take over bodies, and the stronger its host, the better.
If that happens, the celestials will have to deal with a calamity earlier than necessary, and there are too many devils sealed in countless mortal realms for them to waste efforts like this.
Of course, the Phrixus representative dismissed that notion with a wave of his hand before he said impatiently, “There’s no way immortals can come down and do the job for you. We will send a group Peak Triple S rankers.
Don’t forget, even immortals have to cultivate step by step to transcend their mortal shells, and there are plenty Triple S rankers up there. This time they will be sending an elite group of highborn. The result is guaranteed.”
“How many are there?” Calculator is obviously worried if those so-called ‘highborn Triple S rankers’ could pull it off. Emperor Galahad is indeed one of the most powerful individuals on Gaia, and besides his unmatched cultivation, there is a rumour going around that he is capable of using Great Magus Class magicks.
Of course, it is a ridiculous notion. The mage countries zealously hide their crafts. Besides, Cultivation requires one to act according to the heart, lest one develops heart demons and run the risk of letting one’s internal energy run rampant, whereas Magic requires one to operate according to pure logic to weave spells – often counteracting one’s feelings.
With how frequently the heart clashes with the mind, it will be a rare thing for someone to be able to progress as both cultivator and magus, and a complete miracle to master both. Still, she is not about to dismiss it, no matter how small the chance.
The delegate saw her concern and laughed with confidence, “Just cast your cares away. Would you really consider practitioners from the immortal realm to be at the same level as ours? The difference in our techniques are too far apart to be compared, the true strength of our cultivation methods are looked-down and ridiculed by them. Even one of their Double S ranker can defeat our Triple S ranker.
The task will be done without a doubt. Just go ahead and prepare to take over the empire.”
