《The poet and the bard》I'm not calling you a liar

Elizabeth sat on the sofa opposite where Egad was sat. Alison took a seat next to her. Thomas, Pat and The Captain stood at the opposite end of the room, waiting for whatever was about to come next.

Alison turned to Egad and smiled "She's here next to me. She asked what you want to know."

Egad straightened his posture and cleared his throat, looking awkwardly at the empty space next to Alison. "Well, let's start with...how she's been?"

Elizabeth sighed, "Tell him that I'm good, despite being dead."

Alison chuckled, "Is that it?"

"And ask him how he is." Elizabeth added.

Alison nodded, "She says that she's been doing fine, despite being dead. She wants to know how you are."

Egad looked skeptically at Alison, who gave him a reassuring smile. "I'm fine. I was feeling better before my dead sister tried to speak to me, but my heart rate is slowing going back down."

Elizabeth giggled softly. "Ask him if he got his PHD. That's all he went on about when we were teens."

"She asked if you got your PHD?"

Egad smiled, happy that his sister remembered. He was starting to get more comfortable. "Yes I did. Took me forever, but I'm finally Dr. Egad Van Vaughan."

Elizabeth grinned. How strange it was that she would have a decent conversation with her brother even though she was dead. Her smile darkened though, as she remembered the other members of the family. "What about Diana? How's she?"

Alison noticed the change in her friend's mood. "She asked how Diana is?"

It was that question that solidified that Alison wasn't lying, in Egad's mind that is. "Oh, she's...alright, I suppose. To be honest Elizabeth, no one's seen Diana in a year now. She completely cut herself off from the family."

"Why!?" Elizabeth and Alison said in unison.

"Well" Egad continued "Her popularity as a pianist declined rapidly after your death. The press was convinced that she played a part in the decline your mental health which lead to your suicide."

Elizabeth froze. Suicide? She didn't commit suicide. The Captain and Pat looked at each other, confused. Thomas walked over to Elizabeth and sat on the arm of the chair.

"Suicide?" Alison said, double checking that Egad hadn't made a mistake.

Egad nodded slowly, confused as to why it seemed like it was up for debate. "Yes? Elizabeth killed herself, strangled herself with a belt. Her manager Derick was interviewed by the papers, he said that for the whole recording break she had been depressed."

"THAT'S TOTAL BULLSHIT!" Elizabeth yelled, loud enough that Egad heard it. The emotion in her voice sent a shock through room, shaking the walls.

Egad gasped sharply at the sound, "Elizabeth?" He questioned. "What's wrong?"

"I was murdered! And it was that bastard Derick that did it! He killed me in cold blood, and that...that rat told the press I killed myself!" Elizabeth stressed. Thomas wrapped his hand around her's, smiling thinly.

"My sweet, please calm yourself, we can figure this out" he assured.

Alison let out a long sigh. "She just explained that she didn't kill herself. She was murdered by her manager. How did this guy not get charged? Surely his prints were all over the scene, and was he at least a suspect?"

Egad shook his head, struggling to process what the hell was happening. "No, the guy could afford great lawyers, and he told the press that you and him were good friends. But now that you mention it, that whole case didn't add up."

Elizabeth was absolutely brimming with rage. Thomas had never seen her like this.

"I've got to go" Elizabeth announced, before promptly standing up and leaving the room.

"Tell Egad it was good to see him again."

Thomas followed after her, "Lizzy wait!"

Pat and Captain were speechless. They'd definitely been caught in a very delicate situation. "This is outrageous" the Captain stated. "A pure fault of the law."

"I couldn't agree more Cap. Couldn't agree more."

Alison, who had literally been caught in the middle of everything, stood and placed a hand on Egad's shoulder. "You should take my number, in case you want to pop over for a chat. I...I think it's only right we appeal for the case to be re-opened."

Egad stood too, towering over Alison. "I agree. All this time I've been content with a lie. Diana's career was ruined, and the man who killed my sister is still free. It's time that justice gets served."
