As Thomas entered the house, he was greeted by Pat and Robin...arguing. However he was vexed as to what could've started it.

"Look Robin, your turn for film club was a week ago! Tonight is Elizabeth's turn!" Pat tried to maintain his calm nature as the caveman argued back.

"No! Tonight my turn! Last week was Julian turn!" Robin grunted.

Elizabeth was holding her hands between the two, trying to split up the petty squabble. "Guys! If it's that much trouble I can go next week, it's really not that big of a problem."

Thomas, sighed and walked up to intervene. "Well from what I can tell tonight is Elizabeth's turn. Robin, last week you had us watch that one with that woman in space or whatever? 'Alien' was it?"

Robin, slumped his shoulders, scratching his head. "Heh, me remember now. Memory not as good as used to be"

Elizabeth just smiled and nodded. "It's fine, happens to the best of us. Anyway should we get started? If I don't watch Cher sing ABBA in the next half hour I'm going to go mental" she laughed.

Before she turned to leave, she patted Thomas's shoulder, giving him an appreciative grin. "Thanks mate"

With that she began to make her way to the living room where everyone had congregated, Pat following behind.

Thomas felt his heart swell, her smiling face etched into his memory. Tonight he had to make his move, and tell her how he really felt.

He joined the others, securing a place next to Elizabeth on the sofa. She'd taken of her Jean jacket and tied it around her waist, revealing her arms, which Fanny found absolutely scandalous.

Soon enough, Alison walks in to put the film on. "So what is it tonight guys?" She asked, opening the dvd cabinet.

Elizabeth piped up, excitement in her eyes. "Mamma Mia please Alison! I'm in the mood for some ABBA"

Alison smiles, giggling slightly. She pulls out the dvd and slides into the player. She then stands to leave.

"Aren't you staying tonight? Thought we could sing the songs together" Elizabeth said, disappointment lacing her tone.

Alison sighed, "Sorry Liz, me and Mike are going out for dinner. So I'm afraid you'll be giving a solo performance tonight."

Elizabeth let out a huff. "Oh well, have a nice night!"

"Will do!" Alison replied.

Elizabeth leaned back into the sofa, watching the opening of the her favourite film, still smiling softly.

Little did she know Thomas was paying more attention to her and that gentle smile than her was to the film. He was trying to find the right moment to ask her if they could talk alone.

The film went on, and Elizabeth had quietly sung almost every song in it. The ghosts started to get up to leave and go about their nightly business, all commenting on how they either enjoyed or disliked the film.

Once again, Thomas was left with Elizabeth.

He cleared his throat, turning to look at her. "Uh, Elizabeth, there's something I need to-"

"Why do you insist on calling my Elizabeth Tom? Everyone else shortens it, even Fanny calls me Liz."

Thomas hadn't expected the sudden question. He thought it over for a moment before giving a nervous answer. "W-well, when you first arrived in the house, that awful man Derick called you Liz. I remember you told him not to call you that but he didn't listen. I always thought you reserved that nickname for special people to use. I just assumed I was excluded from that."

Elizabeth jolted up, surprise filling her eyes. "Why would you ever think you were excluded from that? Thomas your a really good friend! I can always count on you to help me out! And besides, I only told Derick not use it because he was an ass who said it to patronise me! Please Tom, you're important to me, if that nickname was reserved for close friends then you'd be one of the first I'd allow to use it"

Thomas's eyes grew wide as he realised his worth to Elizabeth. She cared about him, he was important to her. It make his stomach erupt with butterflies.

"Well in that case, may I call you...Lizzy?" He asked shyly.

She smiled back at him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Of course, Tommy." She blushed lightly as she used the nickname for the first time.

Thomas felt his face heat up at the new name. No one had ever called him that before. It was playful and happy, just like Elizabeth.

"Well, I think I'm gunna turn in for the night. Tomorrow's music club! If you lucky you'll get a performance from yours truly" Elizabeth smirked, getting up to leave.

"I'd like that very much, Lizzy" Thomas grinned, watching as she left the room. "Goodnight."

Thomas was left by himself, again. He let out a groan of frustration, realising he'd missed his chance. But, like Julian said, it's not like he had much competition.

He too got up, making his way to his room for the night. Informing Elizabeth of his feelings was going to be harder than he'd thought.
