《The Silent Queen》Lover's Pond

"Goodness, that was a stupendous breakfast!"

Link and Zelda were on their horses again after spending the night in Lurelin Village, and had just departed from the seaside village for a day out. Zelda patted her stomach heartily as she licked her lips, smiling from ear to ear.

"It... Was alright..." Link replied.

"You could learn a thing or two from them." His wife remarked mischievously.

"What?!" He gawked.

"Oh your reaction was priceless!" The Queen laughed, "don't worry, you're still the best cook in all of Hyrule. Speaking of, why didn't you help with the cooking?"

"I didn't want them to feel like they're lacking in cooking skills." Link answered haughtily.

"How modest of you..."

The Prince Consort rolled his eyes and busied himself with brushing his hand over Epona's mane frantically.

"Epona has sand all over her mane!" He groaned with annoyance, "Her beautiful mane which I tirelessly try to keep clean and well-groomed."

"Yes, like that time when you disappeared for so long that I started to worry about you, just to find out that you spent the whole time braiding her mane." Zelda pointed out.

"Hey, she looked like she needed a nice grooming." He protested before patting his horse, "Isn't that right, Epona wona darling?"

"Ok Lover Boy, care to finally tell me where we're going?"

"Yup, just up there."

Link pointed to small mountain which had a winding track leading up to the peak.

"Uh, what's so interesting about it?"

"You'll see."

Link urged Epona on, guiding her up the steep track of the mountain, with Zelda and her steed in their wake.

"Ok, dismount here." He commanded once they reached the top.

"What is going-"

Once Zelda dismounted her horse, Link covered her eyed and nudged her forward, guiding her to a small pond. He grinned before removing his hand from her eyes.

"Oh- oh my! It's beautiful!" Zelda sighed dreamily.

The pond was in the shape of a heart, and around it were many flowers which bloomed in vibrant colours, sending wonderful aromas into the air, along with a few silent princesses, which released a few petals into the gentle breeze that whistled by.

"Really is something else, isn't it?" Link remarked proudly, placing an arm around his wife's shoulder.

His attention, however, was swiftly directed to something else. Standing on the other side of the pond was a man, a forlorn expression on his face as he gazed helplessly into the still waters of the pond.

"Hang on." Link pondered, taking a few paces toward the man, "Aren't you-"

"Oh... Hey." The man greeted, looking up at Link, "I remember you. You're that guy who came up to Ebon mountain. Turns out I was waiting at the wrong pond, but even as I wait here no one shows up..."

"Yeah I guessed as much." Link nodded, "that other pond was a heartbreak one, I don't think anyone would find love there."

"But hey, it seems you got lucky." The man chuckled slightly, gesturing toward Zelda, "that's great for ya."

"Yeah, I really got lucky." Link smiled.

"The name's Mimos by the way." The man held out his hand.

"Link." The Prince Consort shook Mimos' hand, "And that's my wife, Zelda."

"Queen Zelda?!" Mimos gawked, "Here you and I were waiting at a heartbreak pond and you go off and marry the Queen?!"

"As you said, I got lucky."

"Seriously, way to go, man." Mimos mustered a smile.

"Don't look so sad, maybe you'll find love." Link encouraged, "Who knows, love could show up at any second-"

He was cut off by the arrival of some more people. The Prince Consort squinted slightly before his eyes widened with realisation and excitement.

"Excuse me one second." He mumbled to Mimos before rushing over to the people.

"Oh, if it isn't our little Cupid."

A Gerudo greeted Link with a welcoming smile, and stood next to the Gerduo was a Hylian man, who seemed equally happy to see Link.

"Hey there little fella, remember us?" The man asked, "You helped me get with my dearest love, Perda."

"Of course I do!" Link chuckled before calling out to Zelda, "Hey, Zelds, come over here!"

As the Queen joined them, Perda and the man, Wabbin, hastily bowed.

"Zelda, do you remember that couple that I helped get together?" The Prince Consort asked.

"Yes?"

"Ah, so you have been fortunate enough to find love too?" Perda remarked.

"Yes, we're here on our honeymoon." Zelda blushed.

"Perda and I have been married for two years." Wabbin stated.

"Oh that's great!" Link exclaimed.

"It couldn't have been possible without you, little Cupid." Perda winked, "Oh, I almost forgot. We brought my sister here in hope that she would find love."

A younger Gerudo came up behind Perda and flashed a quick smile. Link stared at her, a plan forming in his head.

"Zelda, why don't you take Miss, uh..."

"Makota." The Gerudo introduced.

"Yeah... Why don't you take her to go look at those beautiful Silent Princesses, maybe pick a bunch, I know that's certainly one way to attract a man." He nudged Zelda and winked playfully.

"And I take your word for it." Makota nodded, "You are, after all, a man."

"Oh, come, I found a nice collection of Silent Princesses." Zelda said.

The two women moved away and inspected the flowers.

"Something tells me you have a trick up your sleeve." Perda said slowly.

Link grinned then went over to Mimos again.

"Sorry, they were people who I knew." Link explained.

"You know that beautiful woman?" Mimos asked, spellbound, pointing at Makota.

"Yeah... I do, why?" The Prince Consort questioned mischievously.

"N-no reason, just... Oh gosh... She's so pretty!"

"Why don't you go over to her?"

"What! No, I couldn't!" Mimos protested, "B-besides, Her Majesty is o-over there a-and-"

"Zelds, have a look at this real quick!" Link called out.

Zelda got up from where she was, leaving Makota behind.

"Now is your chance." He urged, shoving Mimos forward.

Zelda stood beside Link and watched the terrified man slowly make his way toward the Gerudo.

"You're cruel." Zelda chuckled, "The poor dear."

"Things have to be done." Link replied nonchalantly, "If I don't act he'll be by himself forever."

Mimos stood behind Makota and cleared his throat.

"H-h-hi..."

His hands and legs were shaking and Mikota stood up and faced him.

"Hello." The Gerudo responded.

"Y-you're v-v-very... Beautiful." He squeaked.

Mikota gave him a piercing look, before smiling and holding out a silent princess for him.

"The Queen told me that these were lovely flowers to give to someone special." She explained.

"T-thank you!" Mimos exclaimed gratefully.

"Why, you really do work wonders, Cupid." Perda said with amazement as she stood with Link and Zelda.

"I'm a natural charmer." Link replied smugly, "Anyway, we should be heading back now."

"Thank you, we really owe you one." Wabbin said.

"No need, really." The Prince Consort waved as he and Zelda made their way back to their horses.

The pair mounted their stress and commenced their descent down the mountain.

"Since when we're you an expert in love?" Zelda scoffed.

"Since always."

"Yeah right..." She mumbled.

"Isn't it obvious?" Link gasped comically.

"I'm not sure, it's hard to tell... Anyway, where are we going tomorrow?"

"I'm not sure." Link pondered, "Home?"

"I guess everything can't last forever." Zelda sighed happily.

"Chin up, there's plenty of time for other things." Her husband smiled, "We have a long, long time, and I intend to savour every second."
