《The Silent Queen》A Break

"Ah, General Link..."
As he burst through the doors of the meeting room, all of the ambassadors stood up to welcome him.
"Please, forgive my tardiness, Your Majesty." Link said apologetically to Zelda.
He took a seat near the head of the table, close to Zelda, who was scowling at him. Once he sat down, the ambassadors did the same.
"Well, shall we continue?" One if the ambassadors suggested.
Zelda nodded and rifled through a wad of paper. Link couldn't help but notice how tired and weary her eyes were. It seemed that he wasn't the only one who had been working hard all day.
"Well, Jorulph, I think trade between Learia and Hyrule is going splendidly." Zelda said, "and I think I am right in saying that it benefits both of us."
Jorulph nodded in agreement.
"I think that is it, then?" Jorulph said whilst getting up, "unless you gentlemen have anything else?"
"I think the Queen has addressed all matters." One of the ambassadors said.
"Thank you, gentlemen." Zelda said graciously as she too got up.
The ambassadors filed out of the room, Jorulph being the last one out. Before he left the room, he shot a wink at Link, who smiled in return.
"He seems familiar." Link said.
"I wouldn't be surprised if you two ended up ruling a kingdom or something like that." Zelda scoffed.
"Is that something I would do?" Link asked curiously.
"Probably."
"Well, how has your day been?" Link asked as they walked out of the room.
"Tiring." She replied weakly, "I've had merchants come in for some stupid rock, then I go out into town to try some weird food-"
"Sounds fun!"
"Yes, well... Now we just had the meeting with the ambassadors, and nothing exciting happened!" Zelda cried, "It was useless."

"The meeting was awfully quick." Link noted.
"No, you were just late."
"Yeah, well try being General of the Hyrulean army." Link snapped.
"Try being Queen of Hyrule!" Zelda retorted.
"I think I'd be a great Queen." Link muttered.
He then strutted in front of Zelda and swayed his hips from side-to-side.
"How do you do?" He said in a posh accent, "How do you do? I'm feeling awfully down today. Why you ask? Well, I'm just tired of sitting on my backside for too long."
"I do not speak like that!" She snapped, "And what on earth is going on with your butt?!"
"I'm walking like a Queen." He replied in his royal accent.
"No, you're just walking like a- like a weird person..."
"Wow, great insult." Link said in his normal voice, "Are you going to get ready for the annual ball?"
"What?"
"Uh... The annual ball?" He said "Tonight?"
"Oh for the love of Hylia!" Zelda exclaimed, "How am I supposed to remember that!?"
Link stared at her with a puzzled expression.
"I suppose you don't have to go-"
"Me? Not go? You must be insane!" Zelda said hysterically, "I'm the Queen! Its my duty to attend."
"Not in this state you're not." Link said sternly.
"I'm... Fine."
They walked through the hallway and entered Link's room.
The room was orderly chaotic. Bits of armour and weaponry were scattered all over the place, but the room was not messy. Zelda admired that. She often thought that the room reflected the owner. Messed up and frantic, but appears in order and calm.
"You're too stressed." He said softly.
"No I'm not."
"Perhaps a break would do you some good." The General suggested.

"A Queen cannot take a break." Zelda said.
"Nothing major is going on." Link said, "Your people will be fine if we were to go on a trip.
They sat on his bed and stared at the woven tapestry on the wall.
"Maybe you're right..." Zelda sighed.
"I know I am."
"So, what are we going to do?" She asked.
"Maybe we could go on a trip around Hyrule. Do some sight-seeing and stuff." Link said
"What about the army?"
"They'll manage."
Zelda bit her lip and stared at the floor. She had not had any free time in years. If she went on this trip, she would feel like she is neglecting her duties as Queen.
"Zelda, even the Queen needs a break." Link said as though reading her mind, "We should leave tomorrow."
"Tomorrow it is, then." Zelda sighed, "What are you going to wear to the ball?"
"Wear?" He asked, "As in clothes?"
"Oh, you were not just thinking of showing up in nothing but your underwear..."
"No, of course not." Link cried indignantly ,"I was going to turn up in nothing at all."
"I rather my guests not be disappointed like I was." She smirked.
"Haha, real funny..."
"I don't want to go." Zelda muttered, "Its always so boring."
"Then don't." Link said, "Let's stay up here."
He reclined on his bed and put his hands behind his head.
"Someone is bound to notice." She said, "The Queen and the General both absent. Their minds will start to wonder."
"That's their problem."
He smirked and pulled her towards him. He could feel her breath against his face. It smelled fruity.
"Have you been eating fruitcake?" He asked.
Zelda blushed.
"And you didn't even save me any..." Link sighed.
He shrugged and pulled her closer so that their lips were touching.
"You're outrageous!" Zelda cried as she pushed him away, "The only times you ever kiss me is when I've eaten some sort of dessert!"
"Well, maybe you should eat more desserts." Link retaliated.
She growled and smacked him hard in the face with a pillow.
"Hey, don't use my pillows against me!" He cried.
"I'll use whatever I please against you, you foul, rotten, repulsive-"
Their lips were touching again, though this time, Zelda held onto Link. He could feel her smile, which then made him smile.
"Please, for the love of Hylia, shave!" She exclaimed.
"I want a beard." He whined.
"No you don't." Zelda said as she looked over at the clock in the room, "I should probably get going."
"So you're going to the ball?" Link asked, letting go of her.
"No, I'm just going to wear a gown and suffocate myself for the fun of it." She replied sarcastically before leaving the room.
"I should feed her more fruitcake." Link said to himself after she left as he gently touched his lips.
