《The Wonders of Fall; A Modern Zelink AU Story》Date Number Three (14)

Somehow, as Link was preparing for the day, he was nervous. Why was he nervous for a date?
It would make sense that nervousness would be a feeling that was commonly present before and during a date. But over the past few dates, Link hadn't felt nervous at all. So why was it different this time?
Probably has to do with something about how her parents are around, Link thought to himself.
Link wasn't sure what Zelda had planned for the date this evening, she hadn't told him anything except to meet him at the front door at six o' clock.
She seemed really excited, Link thought as he looked at his jacket folded on the dresser. Would he need to wear that?
Link turned on his phone and looked at the weather forecast. It was surprisingly forecasted to snow.
Snowing on the day after Thanksgiving, Link thought shaking his head, for some reason that seems insane.
Link looked once more in the mirror and rustled his hair randomly, looks okay I guess. He pulled on his gloves and walked out of the room.
Looking at his watch he saw he was a minute or so late for their six o' clock agreement so he hurried down the stairs to see Zelda patiently waiting by the door.
She smiled when he arrived at the door, "shall we go?"
"Sure," Link said automatically. He followed her out the door.
Zelda too was wearing a light jacket but with sleeves that were too big. She also wore a white beanie that covered her ears but didn't restrain her hair. Link couldn't help but think that Zelda looked quite cute in her outfit.
😢
They walked past the car and Link looked back at it, "are we not going to drive?"
Zelda smiled towards the ground, "no, I was thinking a walk would be nice. Is that alright?"
"Yeah that's fine," Link said keeping up with Zelda's quick pace, "where are we going?"
"You'll see," she said with a small giggle. Link smiled and followed next to her.
Soon, they began to walk through a meadow, near a quiet park. Link looked around in all directions, yellow grass leaping up everywhere up to his elbows.
Zelda looked up at him expectantly, "how is it?"
Link looked around again and smiled. It was so quiet, and so peaceful. And combined with Zelda's presence it made this area perfect. The setting and overall feeling of this was so much different than when he was with Malon or Illia.
He looked back at Zelda. He couldn't help but feel like the environment was just a little...romantic? He wasn't completely sure, he had never pursued it before. But he definitely was feeling something towards Zelda that he had never experienced before. He liked it.
"It's wonderful," he said smiling back at her.
"Good." They walked through the meadow a bit more, walking over the tall grass.
"Why did you take me here?" Link asked.
He noticed that red cheeks from the cold got even redder. "Well...I just really like this area. I used to run through this meadow when i was a little girl. I just thought it would be a nice place for the two of us to get to know each other better."

Link nodded to himself, it was a nice place indeed.
Soon it started to snow. Somehow the white particles complimented the already-beutiful meadow, making it even more stunning. Link never believed an area could be so amazing.
As he looked back at Zelda, who was happily looking up at the flurried filled sky, he saw something in her that he had never seen before.
The environment, her cute beanie, her smiling face, her fun, shy and excited personality, it all added up to something...beautiful. Zelda was beautiful.
Zelda was beautiful.
"Zelda."
"Yes?"
Link didn't hesitate. With a smile on his face he asked, "you're beautiful. Has anybody ever told you that before?"
It looked as though she were completely caught off guard. She turned away, probably to hide a blush. Stuttering she responded, "why...th-thank you Link. Um..."
She turned back to face him with rosy cheeks, "I mean...besides my parents...I don't think so."
That was a surprise. How could anyone look at Zelda and decide that she wasn't beautiful? It had taken a while for him to realize it yes, but it was completely obvious. How could he have seen her at his doorstep a couple weeks ago and not seen her as beautiful?
"You're...handsome yourself Link."
He looked back over at Zelda who was smiling at him warmly. When was the last time anybody had complimented him like that? Sure, Illia and Malon had done it countless times...but it sounded even more sincere hearing it from Zelda. Like as if she had been saving the compliment for a while, instead of dishing it out as if it were a flyer?.
"Thank you Zelda," he returned the smile.
After several long moments Zelda asked if it was a good time to go eat. Being male and and nearly always hungry, Link gladly agreed.
They walked to Town Square which was relatively near the meadow and Zelda lead him into a restaurant called Rito's.
"Rito's?" Link wondered out loud, "I've never been here before."
"Thank you," Zelda said as Link held the door open for her, "oh yes. I think its very good. Though they could hire better staff I suppose?"
"Hmm?" Link wondered. Was there a problem with some of the workers here. Once they were seated Zelda nervously looked around them.
"What's wrong?" Link asked.
"I hope...I really hope...uh oh..." she had spotted someone or something behind him and she sung deeper into her chair.
"What is is?"
Link turned around in his chair and looked behind him and also let out a groan.
Revali. Revali worked at Rito's. Of course he did.
Revali had been an annoying classmate in High School. He had gone out out of his way to make Link feel as though he wasn't needed or important. Link had never found out why Revali hated him so much, but he had most definitely never expected to see him again.
Revali came to their table, "what may I...oh Zelda! How lucky am I to be your server tonight!"
"Hello," Zelda complied, giving him a small wave.
"And who might you be dining w-" he looked over and saw Link sitting across Zelda.
"It's you."

"Hmm?"
Link pretended to notice Revali for the first time. He acted surprised.
"Oh! Hey um...what was your name again..." Link pretended to think holding his brow with his hand, "oh yeah! Its been a while hasn't it Ravioli?"
"DON'T CALL ME RAVIOLI," Revali yelled at his customer. Other diners looked uncomfortable of the situation as many glanced towards their table. Link desperately held in laugh.
Revali glared at him and said more quietly, "why do you still call me that?"
"Things just stick sometimes," Link said with a smile. Zelda looked completely confused.
Revali cotinued his duty by taking their orders and left quickly.
"What was that about?" Zelda asked curiously.
"Oh, we knew each other in High School," Link explained, "we didn't exactly get along."
"Oh I see."
"So are you annoyed with him too?"
Zelda hesitate. "I think he likes me. Somehow whenever I come here, he's the server. He likes to flirt a lot but I don't exactly find it..." she struggled for a word.
"Attractive?" Link suggested. A bit taken back with himself, Link was surprise such a suggestion had escaped his mouth.
"Yes I guess you could say that," Zelda said, "but I did enjoy hearing you call him Ravioli. I've always wanted to do that."
"You're welcome," Link laughed. Soon their meals came. Zelda had ordered oktorok soup and received it, and Link had ordered pumpkin stew, but received a quite dubious looking plate.
"Um...this isn't what I ordered," Link said looking at Revali.
Reveal looked surprised and said, "it isn't? Oh I'm sorry, the kitchen must have gotten it wrong. I'll go make sure you get the right dish." He picked the plate up from Link's hands and hurried off.
"He did that on purpose," Link said annoyed.
Zelda hesitated, glancing once at her food, "I'll wait for yours to come out."
"No it's okay," Link assured her, "you can start."
"No I won't," Zelda insisted putting down her spoon, "I'll wait. It would be rude of me to start eating without you." She a sweet smile that warmed Link's heart, making him forget how much he hated Revai.
He smiled back, "thanks."
Revali came back after a couple minutes, this time, presenting a vegan salad.
"Are you honestly doing this to me?" Link asked, completely annoyed.
"Oh I'm sorry! They must have done it wrong again. My bad...let me go-" Zelda suddenly stood up and walked straight to the counter, also looking annoyed.
Revali grabbed the plate back and left in the other direction. When she came back Link asked, "what was that all about?"
"I talked to their manager," Zelda said looking behind her for traces of Revali, "they said they'll bring it out as soon as they can. I also reported Revali."
Link was pleasantly surprised that Zelda would do something so bold. "Thanks."
"It's alright."
Finally his soup arrived, and he and Zelda started their meal. It was easy to appreciate anything when Revali wasn't around.
_^_
Coming out of Rito's, Link looked quite upset.
"I'm sorry about that," Zelda apologized. She hadn't planned to have to deal with Revali.
Oh why did Revali have to work today? She painfully thought, why?
It was a little awkward now, walking around the square. Zelda wondered how she could get his mind off of Revali.
"I've been wondering for a while Link," Zelda started nervously. She had been meaning to ask him for a while now, but had been too worried about his reaction.
"How come it's only you and Aryll living in your home?"
Link stiffened a little, but didn't hesitate to answer, "to put it simply, she's the only family I have left."
"Oh," Zelda said instinctively, regretting her sudden reaction. "I'm sorry."
It was extremely shocking. Zelda had always theorized that it had been some odd family matter, or they're parents were simple away. But...it was because they were the only ones left of their family?
Link shrugged, "as much as I'd like to say it's alright: it's not. But thank you though."
Zelda walked on, lowering her head a little. It was sad to think that both Aryll and Link had to endure such thing. Aryll was so young after all. They both were.
"Hey don't worry about me," Link said giving her a smile, "are we doing anything else?"
"Well, I have something else planned if you want to continue," Zelda said shyly.
"Yeah, sure I do," Link said happily,
"Well there's a community dance that's going to be taking place at the dance hall," Zelda started nervously, "does that sound like something you'd like to do?"
"Sure," Link said sounding a little exited. Zelda smiled back at him and they started to walk towards the dance hall.
Is he...walking closer to me? Zelda thought as they walked down the walkway. It seemed as he was. Zelda smiled to herself; the date so far seemed to have been a success.
When they arrived, the dance has already begun, and maybe couples were dancing livelily.
Zelda stayed close to Link, as there were many people and she didn't want to get separated from him.
Zelda and Link danced along to the popular music along with the other people.
After a couple songs a slow song started up and Zelda looked shyly at Link.
"Would you like to dance Link?"
"Sure."
Zelda took Link's hand and shoulder and they began to slow dance.
Zelda kept her eyes on Link as they danced, "thanks so much for going out with me."
"You're welcome," Link said with a crooked smile, "I've really enjoyed it. Thanks for asking me out."
"You're welcome," Zelda said blushing, "I've had a lot of fun too."
They danced for a while longer before the song ended. After Zelda thanked Link for the dance, it was announced that the dance had ended.
After a quick look at the time, they both decided it would be best if they headed home.
The walk to Zelda's house was rather short and quiet. When they walked inside it seemed that no one was about the house; everyone was in bed.
"Goodnight Link!" Zelda called as she stepped into her bedroom. Link gave her a little wave and went into his.
Zelda dressed into her pajamas and giddily got into her bed. After calming down and catching her breath she reflected over the date.
She hoped he had enjoyed this date more than his previous ones.
