《The Wonders of Fall; A Modern Zelink AU Story》Hearty Durian Soup (8)

"Good luck on your date big brother!" Aryl shouted just as Link shut the door. Link had asked Zelda to watch their siblings once again as he went on yet another date.
Both Aryll and Tetra look out the window to see Link drive away, then run to Zelda who was quietly reading her book.
"Hey Zelda, can you take us to Town Square?" Tetra asked.
"Um..." Zelda looked at her watch and looked back up at the girls cautiously, "why?"
"We just want to stroll around there," Aryll answered.
Zelda shrugged. If the two of them wanted to go there then why not? Zelda stood up and grabbed her keys, "let's go."
Zelda hopped in the front seat while Aryll and Tetra climbed in the back. She heard the two of them snickering.
Zelda glanced behind her but only saw extreme innocent faces. After studying them for a moment she turned back around and started the car.
Are those two planning something? The last thing she needed to be responsible for was a silly prank pulled by these two. Praying that they weren't up to anything she reversed out of the driveway and started the drive to Town Square.
I wonder if Link is enjoying his date...
_^_
"You know what to do," Aryll whispered to Tetra. Tetra nodded and smiled back.
As the car came to a stop in it's parking place, Tetra darted out the door and slightly cracked the trunk open. Before Link had left for his date, Aryll and Tetra had stored their precious items in the trunk: a water ballon launcher along with a decently sized bucket filled with water balloons.
They would come back for them later. Aryll gave out a girly yell and ran from the car, Tetra following closely behind.
"Hang on-Tetra!" Zelda called after her sister as she exited her car. She pressed the lock button on her car key as she ran after them, not paying attention to a beep that should have gone off once it was pressed: the trunk was not locked.
Tetra and Aryll slowed down for Zelda to catch up to them. When she did she scolded them a little for running off, then the three of them began their walk around the square.
Aryll leaned close to Tetra, "we can't let Zelda see Link. Once we spot him over by Beetle's we take a route as far as possible from there."
"And we know what to do from there," Tetra finished smirking. They casually walked behind the fountain peering at the restaurant.
Bingo. Link and his date were on an outside table. Absolutely perfect.
Tetra and Aryll suddenly veered away from the middle of the Square. Zelda who was trying to read her book while walking had to stop and find them before following their sudden change in direction.

Once they had made it to the other side of the square Aryll tapped Tetra's shoulder. The two of them ran as quickly as they could in different directions.
Hiding behind a bush Aryll watched Zelda finally notice their disappearance. She looked around frantically for a couple moments and then quickly followed the path forward to look for them.
Perfect. She was going in the opposite direction. Aryll ran back to the car where Tetra had already begun to unload the items from the trunk, "is she coming?"
"No," Aryll replied grabbing the water balloon launcher, "she's going the other direction. We better hurry if we're going to do it while they're still eating.
Tetra grinned, "that's perfect. Let's go."
The two of them shut the trunk and hurried over the the restaurant. They hid behind a big bush and prepared the first shot.
Tetra pulled back on the launcher and Aryll aimed the front of the launcher.
"Um...let's see," Tetra said shifting her head with one eye open, "four degrees to the left...a little higher...we don't want to hit Link."
"Let me know when you're firing."
"Now!"
Tetra released the balloon and it flew over the bush and straight into Illia's hearty durian soup. The soup exploded all over Illia's clothes but didn't touch Link at all.
"Missed!" Tetra said grabbing another balloon.
"Wow it didn't even pop," Aryll laughed, "let's go again."
Link had got up and walked over to the other side of the table to grab napkins and help her. When he wasn't in their way, Tetra let go again.
The balloon soared over the bush and hit Illia in the chest. The balloon popped, spraying both Illia and Link with cold water.
"UGH!" Tetra and Aryll heard Illia yell. The two of them dropped the launcher and doubled over with laughter behind the bush.
When they popped back up they saw that Link was cleaning up the mess by himself.
"She must have gone into the bathroom to clean up," Tetra observed.
"Aw, my brother cleaning up even though it isn't his mess," Aryll said happily, "see? This is why Link is admired by so many women.
"Hopefully the end result will be him and Zelda," Tetra said.
"Yeah hopefully." After a while Illia came back out. Her shirt was stained from the soup and her hair was a little messier but she still looked happy to be with Link.
"We're not finished yet," Aryll said with a clenched fist, "we've got to hit her again."
The two of them decided they were done eating and so they gave the waitress her tip and they walked into the center of Town Square. The two twelve year olds hid behind another bush and aimed the slingshot again.

"We've got to be careful: Link is walking next to her," Aryll reported.
"Got it," Tetra said with a determined smirk.
_^_
Oh! Just where did those two run off to? Zelda thought frustrated with herself. I just knew those two were up to something! What could they be doing?
She suddenly spotted them and gasped: they had a water balloon launcher behind a bush and were aiming it Link and a girl he was with.
She recognized her as Illia. They had knew each other in High School. Why was she with Link?
Link had said he was going on a date...
Hang on! Wait...THAT'S HIS DATE! She called out to them, "Tetra! Aryll stop!"
They didn't seem to hear her as she caught up to them and the water balloon flew. Zelda painfully watched the ballon soar right past Link's face and straight into Illia's.
Illia screamed. Both the explosion and the scream made Link jump from surprise. The water balloon exploded over the two of them.
"Right on!" Aryll yelled high-fiving Tetra.
Zelda angrily grabbed the two girls' hands and dragged them away from the scene that was gathering attention; Illia wouldn't be happy if she saw Zelda here. Once they were back to the car she turned on them.
"What was that? You only wanted to come here to deliberately ruin Link's night. How could you do that?"
"It was fun," Aryll said twirling around, "don't worry; he'll thank me later."
Zelda sighed, "just get back in the car please."
"C'mon Zelda, it wasn't that bad," Tetra said, "you've got to admit it was funny."
"You hit his date in the face!" Zelda exclaimed.
"Exactly!" Aryll said happily, "my aim couldn't be any better."
Zelda sighed again, "you guys are insane. Would you want Link to stalk you on your date and hit your date with water balloons?"
Aryll shrugged, "if he was doing what I did to him then yeah. I'm scaring all the unworthy girls away from Link."
Zelda rolled her eyes.
"And I'm helping her," Tetra added, "this is all for Link's own good."
"I'm sure Link doesn't need any help on choosing who he goes out with-"
"He didn't choose, Zelda," Aryll said, "she asked him out. Just like the redhead did."
Zelda didn't have a reply. Aryll's words had given her hope. If Link hadn't asked either of them out, the chances were good that he wasn't interested in them. But...that also meant that she was in the same boat as them. If she asked Link out it wouldn't be different at all.
Zelda shook her head; she would have to think about this later. "Can you two get in the car?"
"Yeah." They stored the items back in the trunk and the three of them drove back home.
I'm sure that Link will know that it was them, Zelda thought with grief. And of course, that would lead to him turning on him because she was supposed to supervising them.
The door opened and Zelda cringed.
Both Aryll and Tetra had been waiting by the window. They turned to Link as he walked in, grinning from ear to ear.
"How was your date Link?" Aryll asked brightly as if she were expecting it to be a sweet tale.
Link hesitated. He looked at the pre-teens, then at Zelda, and then down at himself. He didn't even smile as he said with a monotone voice, "I got wet."
After those single words he walked past all of them and out of the living room. Once they had heard the door to his room shut, the three of them burst into laughter.
"He didn't suspect a thing!" Aryll laughed.
"The way he said that was so funny!" Tetra said rolling around on the ground.
Zelda laughed the hardest, this was one of the things she liked about Link; he could be funny without even realizing it.
"Looks like you thought it was funny too Zelda," Aryll said winking at her.
Zelda sighed happily, "I guess so." She looked at the two girls looking up at her with mischievous glints in their eyes.
"But hey," she said sharply sitting up straighter, "just because it's funny...doesn't mean that you should interfere with your Link's business."
"But of course we do!" Aryll said pulling herself up onto the couch, "it's what little sisters are for."
"And their little sister's friend," Tetra added sitting up on the floor, "you should join us next time Zelda?"
"Well why didn't you ask me to?" Zelda asked joking along, "I would have helped you!"
Both Aryll and Tetra looked surprised, "you would?"
"I'm kidding," Zelda laughed, "but if you are going to do it again...warn me next time...and I might help you."
"Well...sure you can help us... but we have another plan for you. A specific plan," Aryll said glancing back at Tetra.
Tetra grinned back. The two looked at each other as if they knew what the other was thinking. Zelda looked uneasily at the two of them.
She was completely confused. If she wasn't going to help them, what plan did they have for her regarding Link?
