《Love & Football》Chapter 26

:: Emma's POV ::
"Look at this!" I shrieked pointing to my stomach as I looked at Tonya, "You can't tell me this is going to go unnoticed."
"Em, it's not obvious. There's nothing to notice." Tonya laughed at me, "You only feel like it's obvious because you know what's happening to your body, but trust me... it's not noticeable."
"Are you sure?" I looked myself over in the mirror, my burgundy red dress clinging to my body like a glove, "I feel so bloated lately. J's gonna notice. He probably knows my body better than I do."
"Has he noticed yet?" She raised an eyebrow at me, "You can't tell me that he hasn't seen you naked since you found out and if he hasn't noticed then, he won't now."
"No, he hasn't noticed." I shook my head, "But I just feel like it's so pronounced in this dress."
"The only thing pronounced in that dress is your boobs." Tonya teased, "But, they look amazing, I will admit. I'm hatin right now."
I dropped my head back as I laughed. For a small girl I was already naturally well endowed, now that I'm pregnant those puppies are only going to grow larger. As much as it drove me crazy, I knew JJ wouldn't complain. I mean, he's a guy right?
"Emma." JJ's voice quickly hushed Tonya and I as he knocked on the door to the master bedroom of the suite.
"You can come in." I called out to him as I slipped my nude heels onto my feet.
"You almost ready?" He asked as he pushed the door open slightly, "My family is waiting in the lobby."
"Yeah." I nodded as I gave myself a once over in the mirror before looking at him, "I'm ready."
"Damn." He looked me over as I walked across the room towards him, "You look so sexy."
"You look pretty sexy yourself." I smiled against his lips before giving him a quick kiss.
"You guys look hot." Tonya looked us over and nodded in approval.
"Thanks so much for coming." I thanked her again, "My mom ended up with the flu and I didn't want to force her to make this trip."
"No problem. That's what friends are for." She smiled at me as she walked JJ and me to the door, "Good luck tonight!"
"Thanks." JJ replied as I smiled up at him, I was beaming with pride. I was sure of it.
"Noah, come give us some love!" I called out to him and within seconds he came running out of the second bedroom.
"Win lots of awards!" Noah yelled as he wrapped his small arms around JJ's legs.
"I'll try buddy." JJ laughed, "Are you gonna watch?"
"Yeah." Noah giggled before wrapping his arms around me.

"Love you babe. We'll see you soon, okay?" I crouched to his level and smooched his little cheek, my red lipstick leaving its mark.
"Okay mommy." Noah skipped back towards Tonya as I returned to my standing position.
"Ready?" JJ looked at me holding the door open for me and I gave him a nod before exiting.
Tonight was going to be such a big night for him, in so many ways. I couldn't wait to celebrate him and his accomplishments. No one deserves it more than he does. More than anything, I can't wait to unleash this secret that I have been keeping for the past two weeks. I only hoped that the news would bring him even more happiness, but part of me feared how he would take it. Every time I see him with Noah it's so hard to imagine he could possibly be upset about being a father, I mean he already was. Maybe not biologically but I know he viewed himself as one. If we get married, or as JJ would say when we get married, he has talked about wanting to adopt Noah. Every time he's mentioned it it's brought me to tears, happy tears but tears none the less. He had no idea how much it meant to me to hear him say that, to know that he would think of Noah as his own, that he practically already does think of Noah as his own. He's incredible and I'm certain there's no better man in this world for me, for us than JJ Watt.
..........................
I squeezed JJ's hand as the clips of his season flashed across the large screen in the convention center. A smile on my face at so many of the memorable highlights Noah and I were so lucky to be a part of. I know I'm always saying how proud I am of him, but this moment is only proof of why. He works so hard and is so dedicated to the things he's passionate about in his life and it makes him a better man because of it. I couldn't ask for a better role model for Noah or for a better father for my children.
"For the first time, ever, this was a unanimous decision..." Chris Pratt began to address the audience as scattered cheers came from the crowd, "2014 AP Defensive player of the year is..."
"JJ Watt." Andrew Luck announced and the audience broke out into cheers of praise.
JJ stood up from his seat and I followed his lead, dabbing the tears from my eyes as I accepted the kiss he placed on my lips. My heart was so happy it was going to explode and I knew how excited Noah would be to know JJ won this award. I returned to my seat and prepared to hear his speech.
"Uh, that... I wasn't ready for that, that was special." He took a minute to compose himself as I looked on proudly and eagerly, "Um, just... it takes so many people to make what you see there. It's my coaches and teammates doing unbelievable things. It's trainers and equipment staff. It's people in the cafeteria making food. Lots of food." He teased and we all laughed as he paused briefly.

"It's uh... I mean it's everybody from my elementary school teachers to my high school coaches to my trainers. There's just so many people behind the scenes that really make what I'm able to do and I'm so so fortunate and so so thankful for all those people and I think every athlete here will tell you that it's really those people that make what we do so special. We get to go out there every single day and play a game and we get all the credit and the fame and the newspaper covers and everything but there's so many people behind the scenes that deserve all that credit and who deserve all that recognition. To all these people, thank you so much. We appreciate it."
He looked at me and I felt the water works getting ready to flow, I'm just going to blame it on the hormones, "Emma, this one is for you baby. You've been my biggest fan and my biggest supporter, there's no one in this world I'd rather have by my side on this journey. Thank you for showing me that I can have love and football." I could hear it in his voice that he was getting choked up, "To Noah who's watching at the hotel room right now, I'm so proud to be a part of your life. Here's to you buddy, I love you."
The crowd applauded as JJ turned to walk backstage. My eyes were flooding over with tears and I reached for a Kleenex out of my clutch. He knew how to make me feel like a million bucks, my heart was fluttering right now and I couldn't wait to get my arms around him. I know that he made Noah's night and just to hear him address Noah the way he did was unreal. He was incredible.
...............
We returned to the hotel room after the award show and a brief after party, Tonya was sound asleep on the couch and Noah sound asleep in the bedroom that had become his over the course of the week. He looked so peaceful and so sweet. We both walked into the room to kiss him goodnight before retreating to the bedroom we had made ours over this past week.
JJ shut the door behind us and tossed his plaid suit coat onto the arm chair that rested in the corner. I kicked off my heels and walked towards my suitcase digging for the small present I had for JJ. This was it, this was about to become the moment that was either going to make this relationship, I mean really make it or it was going to break it.
"I got you something." I walked towards JJ who was loosening his tie.
"Babe..." He looked at me, as I held out the small gift bag for him to grab, "You don't have to get me anything."
"Just open it." My voice was growing nervous and shaky and I knew he could tell.
"What's wrong?" He reached for my hand with his free one, pulling me into his chest.
I shook my head as I looked up into his eyes. I stood on my tip toes and managed to place a kiss on his lips before we parted.
"I just want you to open it." I answered softly, my heart pounding so loud I swore he could hear it.
I watched as he pulled the tissue paper out of the bag and slowly unwrapped it. My stomach was in knots as I saw the silky navy blue fabric start to become visible as he moved the white paper out of the way. He looked at me funny as he held up the tiny 99 jersey in his hands.
"What's this?" He smirked as he looked at me.
"Turn it over." I was beyond nervous as he flipped over to the back of the jersey, his eyes widening as his eyes fell on the word DADDY that replaced WATT.
"Are you...? Are we...?" He looked over at me as I slowly nodded my head and placed my hand on my stomach, "When?"
"I just found out the day before you left for the Pro Bowl." I answered; I could feel the lump starting to form in my throat as I fought to push it back.
There was silence between us and I tried to blink back the tears that threatened to fall but I couldn't. I closed my eyes as a few lone tears began to stream down my cheeks.
"I'm sorry." I whispered.
"No, no baby... don't cry." He walked towards me, tossing the gift on to the bed before pulling me into his chest, "There's nothing to be sorry about. I'm not mad. I'm just... shocked."
His hands rested on my cheeks as he kissed away my tears, I opened my eyes only to be met with his. His lips landed on mine and he kissed me gently, as if I was delicate to his touch right now. He rested his forehead against mine as he brushed our noses together. I loved when he did that, it was such a sweet gesture.
"Marry me."
I pulled back from him and looked up at him. Did he really just ask me to marry him? This wasn't exactly the response I was looking for. The last thing I wanted was for him to feel like he had to marry me just because I'm pregnant. I didn't know what to make of this. What was I supposed to say to that?
