"Can you please stop? We've been through this already. And stop bothering my friends."
Chairman Park sighed and pushed his plate away. He looked more tired than usual but Nari couldn't care less. She had her own problems to worry about and her dad was trying to have the same pointless conversation with her for what felt like the billionth time. She was tired of it and she was upset. Also, she'd been throwing up since this morning so the sight of food made her nervous.
She didn't have that problem before finding out she was pregnant, which made her wonder if the symptoms were psychologic.
"You are in constant danger, Nari. You're married now and you'll start having children soon. Do you want them to be orphans? Do you want your husband to be a widower so young? How about me? Serena is gone and if you die too... I only have you, Nari. Please, listen for once."
How touching. He wasn't there when she needed him the most and now he wanted to be a parent? He was even using her husband to get to her! How typical of him!
"These are all excuses to control my life. Again!"
"Stop being childish, Nari."
"You know I'm right, dad. You were never there for me. I was alone my whole life because your number one priority was your business!"
Her father who was always so calm, so composed now looked distraught. He kept silent for a moment, head down, hands forming fists on the table. Nari observed him without saying anything. She was rather surprised by his reaction and she wasn't sure how to react herself. Did she go too far? But it wasn't the first time they were having this kind of conversation, so why react this way now?
"I'm sorry, Nari. I really am. I know I made mistakes. I was just 26 when your mom died and my parents died a few weeks later. My brother and sister were never in the business so they couldn't help anyway. I was left alone to take care of a 3 billion worth conglomerate. I had no idea how to take care of a four years old because I relied too much on my Wife for that. I know I could've handled things better, but I was desperate. When the Kims offered their help, I didn't hesitate. I trusted them since we were childhood friends. Plus, Tae Hee(Namjoon's mom) and Serena were very close."
Nari was speechless this time. She did know about her grandparents, but not the rest. Her uncle was a journalist and her aunt was in the fashion industry. They even tried several times to scout her. They said something about making the industry more diverse or colorful or something. She mentally rolled her eyes at that. She wasn't interested anyway and she hated the way they treated her. They were so distant and cold, she wasn't sure if they were being racist or just keeping their distance from her father.
"Later on, I wanted to make it up to you but you became difficult and I gave up too easily. Your dad is a coward, unfortunately. I'm really sorry."
"Is that why you tried to control me?" she asked after a short silence.
He sighed in response and Nari realized that he looked exhausted. He seemed old all of a sudden, even though he was only 49.
"I thought that maybe if we worked together, it'd bring us closer. I wanted you to finish business school at least before going to the academy, but you wouldn't listen." He shook his head from left to right dramatically. "You never do."

"I didn't want anything to do with business! I still don't!"
"It doesn't really matter, I own 67% of the shares and they're now all under your name."
"What?"
"Do you remember the papers I made you sign? A year ago?"
"You mean the papers Namjoon made me sign?" She asked with a frown.
"I knew you would listen to him so I asked him to do me that favor."
"What about those papers?"
"It's an agreement. You accepted my shares and in case something happened to me, you have to take care of everything."
"WHAT THE HELL, DAD?"
He grimaced and pushed his chair back before getting up.
"Maybe you should start taking business classes online? It won't take too long, you're smart and you were always a good student even though you caused a lot of trouble..."
He smiled this time and patted her hair before leaving the room. Nari screamed in frustration. She knew coming home to visit her dad was a bad idea. But this conversation was long overdue. They needed this talk. However, she was confused as to why he hid all this from her. Also, did Namjoon know about the shares? He probably did. He wouldn't make her sign anything without asking questions.
Her father thought he won, didn't he? But she'd find a way around this. There had to be a way, right? But what if he had thought everything through? What if there was no getting out of this? What was her plan B? Take business classes as he suggested? Damn it, she had enough on her plate already. And now this?
She needed to talk to her husband or Jungkook... Ah, she was so frustrated. She left the house without saying goodbye to anyone. Though she felt bad about the head housekeeper and the gardener. They had always been nice to her. They were there when her father wasn't.
Maybe she should stop being bitter about now? Her father was human after all and he really seemed to regret everything. And if she was honest, she'd admit that he had been trying to reach out to her for a long time. She remembered that he never punished her when she got in trouble at school. He tried to talk it out, but of course, she always pushed him away. That's why he had given up.
And now she was feeling guilty. Not enough to let this one slide though. He didn't have the right to drive her into a corner like that.
As she was walking out of the house, she tried calling Namjoon, but he wasn't picking up. She tried Jungkook and he picked up right away.
"Noona, how was it?"
She sighed and started the car.
"What do you think? Of course, it went horrible."
"You had another fight?"
He didn't sound surprised.
"Well..."
"Noona, maybe you should listen to him for once."
Nari kept silent for a moment as she was getting of her father's driveway and driving through the gates. She knew Jungkook would react like that, but she could tell there was something else by his voice tone. As if he was expecting she said something, but he was scared of her saying it? It was just a feeling, she didn't know how to describe it better. Then it hit her. This sneaky bastard.
"You knew, didn't you?" She started slowly.
He had an awkward laugh.
"In my defense, I did tell him it was a bad idea. We all know how stubborn you are."

"You should've told me, Jungkook! What the hell! So you all conspired against me!?!"
"I'm sorry noona, but he is as stubborn as you and we weren't supposed to tell you."
She couldn't believe him. They were all the same! They betrayed her!
"I forgave you both about the tracking devices because it doesn't matter that much, really. And yes I knew that Namjoon was aware and even supported you in your actions... But this one is different. It's my life! He made a decision about my life and put it on paper. He made me sign it without me knowing what it was about. He took advantage of the trust I have in Namjoon! You all did!"
With that, she hung up the phone and drove a bit too fast inside the house as the doors were still opening. She then got out of the car and walked into the house, slamming the door behind her. She went to the living room and sat on a sofa before trying Namjoon's number again. And he didn't pick up! She threw her phone away and screamed in rage.
Her hormones were driving her crazy and everything she had heard today was making things worse. She didn't even know who she hated anymore! Her dad for plotting this heritage nonsense? Jungkook for not telling her? Namjoon for not telling her and making her sign the papers knowing damn well what it was? Herself for trusting everyone and pushing her father away? That freaking psycho killing innocent women? Her boss for making her stay at home and doing nothing? Soha for being right about the pregnancy?
Damn everyone!
She let out another scream and threw a pillow this time.
What a day!
Namjoon looked from his father to his mother, then his sister. His parents were anxious and his sister was confused. She was acting as if she hadn't seen the news. Well, maybe that was the case since she was preparing for her exams. When she started studying, nothing else mattered to her. Even when their father called her home, she was at her school's library studying.
"To be honest, we didn't know about his existence."
"Who?" Mimi asked, looking even more confused.
"The man who's been killing women with my face." Namjoon responded matter of factly.
"Huh? I thought you were released because you were proven innocent?"
"And that proof was...Him..."
Namjoon still hadn't recovered from the shock. Yoongi hyung had told him later on that they had received proof at the headquarters that he was innocent. After he was released, Yoongi went there to see for himself. It was a video of that psycho with one of the victims and it had the date and time stamped on the screen. On that day, Namjoon was at a fan sign. Also, there was a message at the end of the video. Yoongi refused to disclose that part and made Namjoon swear not to tell anyone about the video. The police had decided not to let anyone know for now.
The only thing he could tell his family and closed-ones about was the impromptu video call at the precinct. It was communicated to the press anyway. Only him and the police knew of the video for now. So Nari and Soha knew. They also knew about the message, but couldn't tell him. Though, he was starting to figure out what it said because his wife had been unusually nervous lately. Every time he went out without her, she would call or message him. If he was working, she would call his manager to check on him or she would contact Jungkook since she knew about the tracking devices.
He checked his phone at that moment and rolled his eyes. He had five missed calls from Nari and one from Jungkook. He sent them a message, assuring them that he was alright before bringing his attention back to his parents. They were all looking at him, but it was Mimi who asked "what do you mean?"
He frowned as he was trying to remember what they had been talking about... Oh, right. The proof.
"He video called the precinct, I told you that."
"There is more, isn't it?" Mimi insisted.
"Sorry, I can't tell. I do want to understand what's going on, though." He answered as he looked at his parents again.
When he'd asked his parents about it, they were shocked at first, then confused. But they soon admitted that maybe there was an answer to all this. A rather strange one.
"Well, we were trying to have a child and it was very hard for us. Then a friend recommended this researcher... we knew it was a bad idea, but we were desperate. He told us that the man was an expert in the field, but his methods were a bit different."
"A researcher?"
"An expert?"
Mimi and Namjoon talked at the same time.
Their dad nodded and answered, "yes, he was trying to create a 'better' human race, according to him."
"What the ...?"
They exchanged a look, then his mother started explaining.
"He would add some substance to the embryo. It was an in vitro process. When we asked him, he said that it was nothing harmful, it would just make our baby healthier than the other babies. But on the day of the intervention, we found out that I was already pregnant, so we didn't go through with the procedure. He wasn't very happy about it so we paid him, on the condition that he destroyed everything. It was our DNA, after all. He had promised that he would, but obviously, he didn't..."
"But it's really strange that he looks exactly like you," his father commented, "I mean what are the odds?"
"Also, are we even sure that he's that child you guys tried to conceive that long ago?" Mimi questioned with a frown.
Namjoon thought about it for a moment.
"He did call me brother," he commented.
"Still, it's pretty unbelievable... This would mean that he used your biological material to implant into another woman who gave birth to Namjoon's exact replica. Was he born that way? Did he have surgery? This is all so strange and I have so many questions!"
Their mother shook her head with an apologetic expression.
"I'm sorry we don't have the answers."
"How about that researcher? We could contact him and ask?" Namjoon suggested.
"Well, he died a few years ago in a fire."
Namjoon sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. He was getting frustrated by the minute. He wanted to know the truth and now that he did, he had more questions.
Mimi was right, they didn't know for certain that the psycho was actually the child his parents were trying to conceive. But if that was the case, why didn't the researcher destroy everything like he was asked? He was paid for it and he could've gone to prison if the Kims had found out what happened. What did he gain by going against his clients' wishes? Using someone else's biological property without permission was a great crime.
What if he did indeed destroy all the biological property the Kims provided? Then who the heck was this man and why did he look like him? Why did he call him brother? Why did he choose him? Why did his victims look like Nari? His Nari, his wife... Was everything calculated from the start? He did admit that he had been following him, so now he knew he wasn't paranoid.
But what did he mean by next phase? What game was he talking about? All this made Namjoon anxious. What did this heartless murderer want from him?
When Namjoon got home, he was still pondering on the conversation he just had with his family. He had also been debating whether or not he should tell his wife. He knew Nari was already worried and with their baby on the way, he didn't want to stressed her out. But he didn't want to hide anything from her either. If only she had listened from the beginning and stayed out of this life! But she was so stubborn.
"I can't believe you, Namjoon. You're a f**king snake, I live with a f**king snake!"
Ok, that was not the greeting he was expecting.
She was standing in the middle of the living room, arms crossed over her chest, and sending daggers at him through her beautiful green eyes. They were darker now, but she looked so hot right at that moment with her messy hair and her blushing face. Her full lips were pursed and she was wearing one of his shirts. He wanted to take it off of her body this instant.
Why was he so horny all of a sudden? Damn it! He had so much more to worry about, like why was she calling him a snake?
"Baby, what-"
"Don't baby me!" She snarled, stamping her feet on the carpet.
Okay, she was pissed. And he wasn't sure if he needed to run away or hug her.
"How dare you? How dare all of you?!?!!"
All of you?
It had probably something to do with the reason why Jungkook had called him earlier.
"Baby, what did I do?"
"I SAID DON'T CALL ME THAT!!!" She roared.
The last time he had heard her scream like that, they all got in trouble and she didn't talk to either him or Jungkook for almost a week. In his defense, he really thought he was doing the right thing back then.
"Okay, okay calm down. What did I do this time?"
She starred at him while breathing heavily. Her eyes were wet. She bit her lower lip, trying to hold back the tears, but they ended up falling down her face. Namjoon started feeling bad immediately. He hated himself already for whatever he did to put her in such a state.
"Nari... talk to me, sweetheart. What happened?" He muttered as he walked closer to her. He wanted to hug her, but she took a step back.
"You... you betrayed me. I loved you, I trusted you, I married you and- and you betrayed me. I should've known better. Ever since that time when- when you broke off my relationship. You went behind my back and told him all those horrible things about me just so he could break up with me."
"What? No, that was because Jungkook and I—"
"And also the tracking devices. It was your idea from the beginning, wasn't it? You put Jungkook up to it. And the wedding... you weren't doing it for me, but you were doing it for yourself."
"Nari—"
"And you even fooled me into signing some papers in connivance with my father! How could you?!"
"DAMN IT NARI JUST LISTEN TO ME!!" He exploded. He tried to hold her but she wouldn't let him. She struggled in his arms until she finally broke free from his hold. She turned around to walk away, but he held her still against his hard chest.
"What are you doing?!?! Let me go!" She cried out, but he didn't budge. He even tightened his grip on her.
"Nari, listen to me. It's not what you think. I'm not a manipulative psycho, I'm not an obsessed freak either. Okay, that part's partially true. I've been obsessed with you for quite many years now, but not in a bad way. I've been in love with you almost all my life. Doesn't that equal obsession?"
She had calmed down and was now listening to him. What choice did she have anyway? He wouldn't let go and he was stronger. When did he get this strong by the way? She shook her head.
Focus, Nari!
"That's BS, being in love doesn't equal obsession," she protested.
"Fine, whatever you want to believe. But my point is, I haven't plotted anything against you!"
"Let me go then."
"Just listen, baby. Please."
His voice had become smoother and it did things to her. She was mad just a few minutes ago and now she was horny? What the f***? it was those hormones again, wasn't it?
"That thing about your trash ex-boyfriend was not our fault. He was a jerk and when we found him out, we threatened him. He was to treat you well or face the consequences. He broke up with you because we caught him cheating and he had the nerve to blame that on us, saying that he cheated because we pressured him with our threats. What a lunatic. Everything he told you was a lie! We would never go this low even if it was to protect you and you know that. You know us, Nari."

8 171Raven: The Beginning
'What's the worst that could happen'? is what I thought to myself as I entered the World of the Veil with a new, experimental machine that the company created. I was originally excited to participate in their alpha test, and now, looking back, I was just a naive little girl that didn't know what it was like to truly suffer. Sarah was one of the world's best assassin players, but she wasn't prepared for getting stuck as a low-level player in a new game. Suddenly she has to struggle just to survive against the monsters of the world, while also keeping her secret from the authorities. What happens when the killing, and the consequences, are just too real? Author's Note (and a Warning): This book is about a normal person that is forced into a fantasy / medieval environment. What could possibly go wrong with our heroine? This novel is a sort of, legacy. I wanted to at least put it out there before I passed away due to a combination of financial difficulty, homelessness, job loss, and my last interview taking up the last of my savings (which I did not get the job). If by some miracle, and I get a job that can give me a pay advance by next week (4/8) and I survive this turbulent time, I will edit this - and the formating of the book). If you are so willing, please donate on my patreon page. Regards, Dave
8 123The Keys to the Blankspace
Ives was a normal college student who luckily found interdimensional keys that let him transport through time and space via interdimensional doors. Unluckily, he uses it one too many times and gets trapped in an alternate realm known as the blank space. This series does not contain much sci-fi, more psy-fi, and maybe a ko-fi ad. (Maybe not).

This is the second short story within the Incant universe. Recent work developments have made the release of my latest chapter a bit of an issue. WIll release as soon as possible.
