《BLOODTHIRSTY》03. Witness

It was quiet in the forest, but the singing voices were to be heard. The green lights dancing around in the cold air were to be seen. The once sad girl looked up in surprise. Leaves dancing around and flowers looking beautiful even when they are supposed to be dead.
Maybe it was all in her imagination and she didn't really see anything, but when it started raining and she felt every single raindrop she realised that this wasn't a dream.
If Winter had the power to change this reality. If maybe she could bring her mom to her senses and somehow find her dad. Maybe life would have been easier, maybe life would have been more fun. She didn't want to go back home. She didn't have much to look forward to. When winter sat down on a bench making her pants more wet, she didn't care. When the rain just continued falling out of the sky making Winter shiver because she was cold, she didn't care. Winter saw a man walking up to her but she couldn't bring herself to care enough. She just sat there watching the man getting closer and closer. She wondered if she was supposed to be scared. She was supposed to run away but there wasn't enough energy left to do that.
"You shouldn't be here Winter, this is a dangerous place for humans." The pale man with long black hair told her with irritation obviously present in his voice.
She looked up to him and wondered if he was okay. Maybe he had gotten sick himself. "I'm completely fine." His black eyes watched her intensely, following her every move.
He wondered if he should just let her be and go back to what he was doing. Maybe he should protect her since wild animals tend to be around here. Her eyes looked up and she frowned. "How do you know my name?"
"You came here with some friends yesterday." He told her the half truth, making sure not to say too much.
The green lights started to surround the man completely, as if it was trying to protect him from any harm. The singing voices were singing louder. Winter stood up and looked around her. Searching for the person the voices came from.
"You won't find them." The man dressed in black told her while he took his jacket of and wrapped it around her.
"You can hear it too right? Where is it coming from?" She asked him with raised eyebrows.
"They are singing the words that you are unable to say out loud." The man looked around in admiration. "You should just close your eyes and listen carefully." He told her while a smile made its way on his face. Trusting a stranger isn't what you're supposed to do. Winter wasn't sure what it was, but the way his eye lit up when he spoke or the way he smiled made her want to believe him.

Winter did what he told her to do. She closed her eyes and tried to listen carefully. It started off with low notes and ended with high notes. She could feel her body shivering but she wasn't sure if it was the emotion trying to let themselves be known, or if it was the fact that she was freezing. The voices used to come from far away but when she opened her eyes she saw them. The green lights turned into small creatures. Flying around here and making themselves known. Trying to bring her back into this reality, but she didn't want to.
She always ran away from everything and everyone. Winter never wanted to fix her problems, she just ignore them and hoped they would fade away. It hit her hard because she finally understand that problems never fade away. She bottled them up until she can't take it anymore. It was like she was waiting for a storm, or perhaps the storm was already here and destroying everything in sight.
The green lights turned bigger in size, and turned into a darker color. She could feel small hands on her cheeks, trying to pull her back. She smiled and stuck her fingers out to see if they would touch it, and to her surprise they did. They sat on her palms and she pulled her closer to her to see them better.
"I'm pretty sure I'm losing my mind at this point." Winter said out loud with a wide smile.
"It looks like you don't mind losing it." He told her and looked at the dark green lights flying around.
The man was confused to why she isn't running away in fear. Isn't that what most humans do? Always running away and classifying everything as evil without knowing anything. She wasn't running away in fear in fact she was smiling like a little kid. It made him feel some type of way. It made him think of the future where everyone could live in peace, without being hunted.
"You're not scared?" He asked her with raised eyebrows.
Winter turned her head to face him and the smile was still present. "How can I? Look at how cute they are." She said and turned around again. "But what are they? I was always convinced that we are not the only ones on earth, and I was right. I was right."
The once sad girl that ran into the woods with tears in her eyes and blurry vision didn't look so sad anymore. He wanted to believe that she felt better and she did, but it won't last long. She can't stay here in the forest. It really is too dangerous for her.
"Spirits." He told her simply in his low voice.
"Spirits?" She wondered out loud.
"This forest belongs to them. They know however enters it and leaves it. They don't like having humans here, but I guess you're the exception." His voice low and he looked intimidating. Winter looked away from him and stared back at the spirits.

"Thank you for letting me stay here. I'm really thankful." She told the spirits that were flying around her.
Suddenly the quiet forest was filled with laughter. Winter turned around to look at the man with raised eyebrows. The man with dark hair and dark eyes looked at her with a sinister smile. His eyes glowing a bright red color here and than. The dark green spirits started to fade away, as if they where scared themselves. Winter tried look around but it was too dark for her to see anything.
She thought about running away, but wasn't sure which way to go. She thought about fighting the man but she wasn't that bold. In fact she was weak or at least that's what her mom told her. They say moms always know best and maybe that Is true. Maybe when her mom told her not to go out, she knew what she was talking about. Winter tried to keep her emotions under control and not let fear lead the way. Every time she thought about running away, she felt like she was glued on the ground. Her feet didn't want to move when she wanted it too. It was like she was being controlled.
With his red glowing eyes and the smile that makes winter want to run away he approached her. His hand that used to be pale transformed into a deep red color. He placed his sharp fingernails on her lips and smiled at the girl.
"Please." Winter asked him while breathing heavy. "Stay away from me." She asked him while tears started to form in her eyes.
"You're scared." He laughed and took a step closer towards her.
"They say if you pray hard enough an angel will come to your rescue." He liked his lips and winter didn't fail to realise his tongue was black and pointy. "Do you think an angel will come to your rescue?" He asked her with raised eyebrows.
Winter completely froze when his hand touched her cheeks. His touch made her want to stay put in her place. Obey him like a dog would obey his human master, but she wasn't a dog. His smiled her way and took her face in his hands. "I expected you to run human? Or hear you scream. Why aren't you running?" The smile got replaced with a frown. He looked disappointed. "Why aren't you screaming human?" His eyes turned black and he looked more terrifying than he did before.
"You won't hurt me." Winter spook out loudly stupidly. If she could slap herself in the face she would do it.
His laughter replaced the silence that was surrounding them. Winter felt her heart beat faster in her chest. She wasn't sure if she should take his advice and pray for an angel to save her.
"I won't hurt you?" He asked Winter and he placed his claws on her neck. Moved his face even closer to hers, she could feel him breathing.
He suddenly dropped to the floor and breathed heavily. The man placed his hands on his chest, trying to feel his own heart beat. His own brown eyes Winter was familiar with stared back at her.
"Didn't I tell you to go back home?" His voice was filled with anger directed towards the girl.
"Didn't I tell you this was a dangerous place?" His loud voice made the girl shake in fear even more.
"I just thought that-" He cut her off by a growl that escaped his lips.
"You need to run." He told the girl while his body shook uncontrollably.
"You need to run and not look back Winter." He told her with blood dripping down his cheeks.
"Are you okay? Should I-" His neck was covered with black spotes. Winter saw something forming behind him.
It could have been her eyes playing tricks on her. It also could have been her being tired. She wasn't so sure what it was what made her go crazy, but she knew deep down that her eyes were completely fine. She did see something behind him trying to snatch him away from her.
"You need to run away and don't look back. No matter how badly you want to. Can you do that Winter?" His once deep voice filled with anger and irritation turned softer. It felt like he was talking to a little kid.
She didn't want to leave the bleeding man behind, nor did she want to leave this forest just yet. His pleading eyes made her turn her back on him. Winter ran out of the forest without looking back, not even once. The rain had calmed down and the path towards her hometown looked easier to find.
Winter realised she had just witnessed something crazy. She had added an other story in her library. An other story she will have to keep to herself. An other story that she wouldn't tell a soul. Her thought of keeping them in her closet started to get harder everyday. It was eating her inside but winter didn't know better. She didn't want to hear her mom accuse her again. She didn't want her friends to look at her in disappointment. She didn't want her brother to worry about her too much.
The closet that had been opened slightly, started to close itself. Winter forgot that she wasn't the only one this time. The creatures that stayed hidden had seen everything too.

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
