IN REAL LIFE

she had forgotten to set her alarm before she slept last night and overslept. due to that, she had missed the first and second train. she impatiently waited for the next train to arrive, which was in three minutes. while waiting, y/n watched the miyagi prefecture's finals live on her smartphone.

"wah, daichi's playing so well." y/n said softly and blushed while watching the captain's every move.

after a while, the train had finally arrived and y/n rushed inside, sitting in the nearest seat. she had a few stops before she reached the gymnasium so she continued to spectate daichi's match. she was in awe. 'how can one be so perfect?' y/n thought. she had never expected herself to be in this situation now.

she had fallen hard for the third year. ever since she had dialled him for the first time, she had been feeling different whenever speaking to daichi. at first, y/n suspected that she was just feeling lonely after breaking up with terushima but over the next few days, she slowly realised what had happened. y/n was falling in love with sawamura daichi.

although she was too shy to admit it out loud, y/n knew how she felt about her former neighbour. she was so deep in her thoughts that she had completely stopped watching the match playing on her phone and was daydreaming about daichi.

y/n quickly snapped out of my thoughts when she had reached my destination. she kept her phone in her tiny backpack and made a beeline for the gymnasium. y/n ignored the weird stares from strangers as she only had one goal; find daichi. she knew that if she slowed down, she would miss their fourth set.

y/n finally stopped in front of the gymnasium and opened the door, placing a foot in the huge place. she could hear karasuno and shiratorizawa's cheers from the first gymnasium so she hesitantly entered, walking up to the stands. y/n let out a sigh of relief when her spot was almost empty and only had two teenage boys present nearby.

y/n rushed to the front so she could see daichi play in real life. i knew how much this meant to him and she was glad that she could witness it. y/n prayed softly that they would win, and noticed that karasuno was losing.

a timeout was called by karasuno and the game stopped temporarily. karasuno's team was coming my way and y/n had assumed that the coach and manager were sitting nearby. her eyes followed daichi as he listened carefully to his coach. she could see the beads of sweat forming on his forehead and noticed a huge bruise on his cheek.

y/n immediately felt worried and knew daichi was feeling unmotivated. she had wanted to surprise him after the match, but she didn't want him to lose and feel down when she faced him for the first time in years. y/n didn't want to bring any attention to herself, but she decided that what she should do next was necessary.

"daichi, you can do it!" y/n cheered, loud enough so that karasuno could hear but the entire crowd couldn't.

daichi's ears perked up when he heard y/n's voice. he looked up to see her, hands in the air and smiling widely. his teammates had turned their attention to her too and she finally noticed the teachers and manager. y/n became flustered when they all suddenly had their eyes on her. 'no need to worry, just imagine that it's only you and daichi.' she thought.

"don't mind! i believe in you, you're going to win this! impress the girl you love, chichi!" the h/c haired girl exclaimed.

upon hearing the nickname y/n had given the boy, some of his teammates began giggling. a silver-haired boy then hit them all on the back of their heads and she instantly recognised him as sugawara.

"goodluck, love ya!" y/n yelled, forming a finger hearts.

daichi turned red in embarrassment and gave y/n a thumbs up. she could tell he had a newfound determination in his eyes. she was thankful her words worked. the timeout ended and the boys continued to play, daichi playing better than usual.

...

a little orange haired boy spiked the volleyball onto one of shiratorizawa's members forearms, bouncing off and flying away. another member attempted to receive it but failed as the ball landed outside of the court. the referee blew a whistle and his hand pointed towards karasuno, signalling that they had gained a point. they won!

y/n looked at the scoreboard. . she watched as daichi, sugawara and one more person hugged each other while they had tears streaming down their face. the other members tackled the boy that scored the winning point and a raven haired boy, whom y/n assumed was the setter. she ran from the stands and to the exit of the gymnasium, waiting for daichi for appear in front of me.the doors burst open and she was met with a teary-eyed daichi.

"we won!" daichi announced, running in y/n's direction with open arms.

she too, ran towards him and jumped into his arms, just like she said she would. y/n buried her head in the crook of his neck, arms hugging his torso and legs around his waist. daichi's arms were wrapped around her waist and they stayed like that for while before sugawara barged in their moment. he told daichi that the award ceremony was starting soon and that he had to let go.

y/n's feet met the ground again and let go of daichi unwillingly. surprisingly, daichi didn't let her go. sugawara felt bad for barging in but he pulled daichi away, making y/n miss the warmth his body provided me with.

"you can continue after the ceremony, daichi." sugawara informed, placing a hand on daichi's shoulder as they walked away.

a small blush crept onto my face and y/n broke into a wide smile. he was so precious, yet so unprecious? she entered the gymnasium shortly after and witnessed the ceremony. karasuno's team were all so cheerful while shiratorizawa's members had a stoic expression. the ceremony ended quickly and y/n ran to the team.

"daichi!" she called, jumping into his arms once again.

"waaaah, daichi-san knows a cute girl! who is she?" a bald boy asked a way shorter boy beside him.

y/n let go of daichi and turned to them, "hello, boys. i'm l/n y/n!"

the boys gasped and fainted, leaving the whole team frustrated. y/n brought daichi outside of the gymnasium so she could talk to him privately.

"so, you came to surprise me, huh?"

"yeah, i thought i would see you after the match but i saw that you were losing and had to do something about it."

"thank you, y/n."

what daichi did next completely surprised y/n. he cupped my cheeks and placed his lips on hers, then moving one of his hands to her waist. she kissed back, placing her hands on his shoulders. they pulled away from each other, faces redder than nekoma's tracksuit.

daichi nervously scratched the back of his neck, his arm still around y/n's waist. she let out a soft giggle and rested her head on daichi's chest.

"i love you." y/n confessed, taking in the smell of his cologne and stinky sweat, not that she minded anyway.

"i love you too." daichi whispered into her ear.

y/n looked up to face him again and smashed her lips onto his. he was shocked at first but held her face in his hands once again, kissing her back. oh god, how y/n wish for it to be like this everyday.

"daichi-san!" a little orange-haired kid called, interrupting y/n and daichi's moment.

"what do you need, hinata?"

y/n tried to contain my laughter when she saw how mad daichi had become. instead of letting out a casual fake cough, she ended up making some weird noise that sounded like a dying pig. oh god.

daichi gave y/n a weird look and hinata burst out in giggles, which y/n admit was adorable. 'what a cute boy.' she thought. daichi rubbed her back and pecked the top of her head, concern on his handsome face.

"we're about to leave!" hinata finally announced.

"oh, thanks for telling me. i'll be there in a bit." daichi responded, shooing the underclassman away.

the pair had a moment of silence before y/n broke it, "you need to leave, and i'm going home now. love you."

"love you. call me."
