The memories came rushing at me as pain shot through my body. I groaned in pain, my eyes slowly fluttering open as Kate's face came flashing through my mind. My eyes finally opened as I looked around carefully, blinking the blurry vision away from my eyes.
I gasped at the site of Derek beside me. "Derek?" I breathed out, his head quickly snapped up to look at me.
"Look whose awake." My head snapped over to the direction of her voice, to see Kate walking into the room with a smirk on her face. "Your lovely mate." She walked up to me as Derek's glare pierced through her skin. "Quiet beautiful, isn't she?" She touched my cheek.
"Don't touch her." Derek growled lowly.
She laughed, backing up away from me. I continued to stare at her not saying a word. "She's very well mannered, hasn't spoken a word." She scanned me. "Almost as if she doesn't have a tongue."
I sighed, looking at the chains that were holding my hands up. "She doesn't want to waste her breath on you." Derek shot back.
"Feisty Derek."
"Let's talk serious." She turned to me. "Who is the Alpha?" She walked towards me, Derek tensed from beside me.
"I don't know." I lied, as my voice came out raspy.
Derek gritted his teeth. "What are you gonna do? Huh? Torture us to death?" Derek spat in anger, catching her attention.
"Oh sweetie, I don't but he does." My eyes fell on the man who entered the room with a bat in his hand.
A smirk plastered on his lips, as he scanned me carefully, causing Derek to growl. Kate laughed walking out of the room, the giant man walked in with a devilish smirk on his face. "Ready for another round?" He asked Derek.
I stared at the man in front of us carefully. Derek remained quiet, as the man lifted his bat and started hitting him with it. I gasped.
"No!" I screamed, causing the man to stop and look at me. The man laughed as he walked up to me.
Derek growled once again. "Don't touch her." "Why not? She's beautiful." He touched the strand of my hair, pushing it away from my face causing Derek to yank at his chains.
"I won't hurt her. I'm sure you won't mind if I get a little tast-" Derek's loud growl cut him off.
The man ignored Derek, touching my cheek making me move my face away from him. "I'll be back." The man backed away leaving the room.
Derek yanked at his chains once again. "Filthy pig." He muttered. "Are you okay?" He asked, looking at me with concern.
I sucked in a breath. "Yeah, just have a burning pain on my neck."
He sighed, but soon his body froze catching my attention. I stared at him curiously as he slowly lifted his eyes up catching my eyes. "Scott's calling me." He breathed out.
***
There was silence between us, none of us said a word. The itching and burning pain of my neck was getting worse. I put my lips in a thin line, looking over at Derek who looked completely tortured. "You worried me." I broke the silence.
I looked ahead of me not bothering to look at him as I felt his eyes pierce against my skin. "I've been through worse. There is no point in worrying about me." He uttered, causing a stinging pain to my heart.
"How can I not be worried?" My head snapped to his direction. "You literally walked out in a battle field, you were basically on a suicide mission. They've tortured you. And you're telling me there is no point in being worried?" I snapped, staring at him in disappointment.
He opened his mouth to say something but my eyes landed on the man from earlier walking in. "Ready to have some more fun?" I scoffed at his words. "To be honest, my knuckles kind are kind of hurting." He stated, I tensed knowing where this was going. "So I brought some help." He revealed the bat, as he walked closer to Derek. "But let me warn you, I used to play in college." He raised his bat in the air and swings it at Derek but it was held by Derek's free hand, the man's eyes widens as the sound of cracking wood was heard, and the bat crumbles to pieces on the floor.
"I brought some help too." Derek revealed, as Scott stepped out of the shadow and knocked the man out by punching him in the face.
"Thank god." I breathed out.
"Layla." Scott rushed up to me, opening the chains to my hands causing me to instantly fall in his arms. I hissed when Scott touched my neck. "What the hell is this?" He asked, causing me to touch my neck feeling something that felt almost like a rash.
"Kate injected her." Derek revealed. "It's dangerous we gotta get the poison out of her before it's too late." He continued to inform.
Scott looked at me worriedly, Derek tried getting out of the chain. "Scott, help me with this."
I expected him to go help him but he remained still. "No." My head snapped to Scott's direction, with wide eyes I stared at him.
"What?" Derek forced out.
"Not until you tell me how to stop peter." Scott declared. Was it really time for this? They could come back any minute.
"You really wanna talk about this now?" Derek asked, in disbelief.
"He's going after Allison and her family." Scott revealed. "He's going to kill them." "So what?"
"So tell me how to stop him."
"You can't!" Derek responded, struggling to get out of the chain as he continued to pull on it. "Now I don't know when Kate's coming back, so just get me out of this right now! Get me out right now!" He shouted, angrily.
Scott remained still, not bothering to move an inch to help him. "Promise you'll help me."
"Scott, we're running out of time." I revealed, knowing we wasted way too much time.
All he did was glance at me and not respond.
"You want me to risk my life for your girlfriend?" Derek argued harshly."For your stupid little teenage crush that means absolutely nothing? You're not in love, Scott. You're 16 years old. You're a child." I froze at his words, is that what he thinks about us?
Scott lowers his head, nodding. "Maybe you're right. But I know something you don't." He pulled out a crinkle paper in his pocket. "Peter said he didn't know what he was doing when he killed your sister, right?" Scott unfolded the paper. "He lied." He held up a picture of a deer with a spiral on it. "Remember this?"
I watched Derek stare at the picture carefully, shivers ran down my spine when the look of his eyes went completely dark. "This is what brought your sister to Beacon hills, right?" Scott continued to interrogate.

"Where did you get that?" Derek answered with another question.
"My boss told me three months ago someone came into the clinic asking for a copy of this picture. Do you wanna know who it was?" Scott explained and questioned.
"Peter's nurse." I muttered the answer.
Scott nodded his head. "They brought your sister here so that Peter could kill her and become the Alpha, and that's why you're going to help me" Derek's body slumped as he came to realisation. "Just say you'll help me, and I'll help you unlock your other-" Scott got cut off as I jumped from the loud sound of the chain breaking off.
Derek held his wrist, standing straight. "I'll help you." He walked over to me, pushing my hair away from my neck. He slowly touched my neck. "We have to clean this up soon." He revealed, staring down at me with his hand slowly touching my cheek. "Let's go."
***
Scott helped Derek walk out as I remained behind them, Derek slowed down holding onto his side where the electrode pin was placed. "Hey. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on." He breathed out, causing all of us to stop. "Something doesn't feel right." He revealed.
"What do you mean?" I questioned, causing him to look over at me.
"I don't know. It's - it's kind of like it's-" I cut him off.
"Too easy?" I asked, but before Derek could answer Scott cut him off.
"No, don't let it be "too easy." People say "too easy" and bad things happen." Derek continued to look around the woods cautiously. "What, do you think finding you was easy? Getting away from Allison's dad? None of this has been easy. So if things are going right for, like, two seconds, can we just not question it? Can we just shut up and thank god we have finally have the tiniest bit of luck for once?" Scott continued to rant.
"Fine, your right." Derek sighed, but his tone was still not convincing.
"Thanks." Scott breathed out, but he spoke too soon when an arrow came flying, hitting him right at the collar bone.
I gasped, but soon felt a piercing pain against my shoulder. I groaned in pain, grabbing the arrow ripping it out of my shoulder. My eyes landed on Derek who groaned in pain as an arrow hit him in the leg. I turned my head to see the person with an arrow in her hand.
"Allison." I breathed out. "Cover your eyes!" Derek shouted, pushing himself towards me. "Scott, your eyes!" He shouted, wrapping his arms tightly around me.
I gasped when Scott remained still as the bright light came rushing in. "Scott!" I couldn't help but shout. Derek quickly forced me to stand up as he rushed over to Scott, grabbing both of us and rushing us to the house.
Derek instantly collapsed. I gasped rushing over to him, looking at the broken arrow jutting out of his leg. "Scott! Take Layla and go!" He ordered.
I shook my head at his order. "I'm not leaving you again." I said stubbornly.
He looked up at me with his forest green eyes."Go!" He shouted.
"No!" I argued back. "Not this time."
"Allison, I can explain." Scott's voice came flooding into my ear. I looked over to see Allison who had an angry look written all over her face.
"Stop lying, for once stop lying!" She uttured angrily.
I stared at her carefully, god knows what Kate brainwashed her with. "I was gonna tell you the truth at the formal. I was gonna tell you everything. Because everything that I said, everything that I did-" Scott was cut off by her.
"Was to protect me." She finished for him, as her face softened a bit.
"Yes."
Her face went back to the stone cold expression she had earlier. "I don't believe you." I looked over at Derek, pushing his hair out of his face as he continued to scrunch his face in pain.
"Thank god." Kate's voice was heard, causing my head to snap up and see the dirty blonde standing there. "Now, shoot him before I shoot myself." She demanded coldly, making me freeze.
Allison throws her aunt a surprised look. "You- You said we're just going to catch them." "We did that. Now we're gonna kill them." Before I knew it I was being pulled of the ground harshly and a cold metal was soon pressed against my temple.
"Kate!" Derek shouted. "Let go of her!" He demanded. "She's not harmful, if you want to kill anyone. Kill me." I tensed at his words.
"No!" I shouted.
"I'll make this easy, then." Kate revealed, suddenly shooting Derek without any hesitation. A scream escaped my throat. "Derek!" I shouted, trying to get out of her arms.
"Let her go!" Scott shouted.
Kate laughed, struggling to keep me still in her arms. "See? Not that hard." Allison looked at her completely shocked. "Oh, no - I know that look. That's the "you're gonna have to do it yourself look."" She continued to say, like a mad woman. She pushed me next to Scott causing Scott to quickly catch me.
Kate pointed her gun at me then Scott."Kate, Kate, what are you doing?" Allison chimed in. I breathed in and out heavily, as my eyes fell on Derek who didn't move a muscle. Worry instantly filled me.
"Aren't you tired of kill people?" I spoke up, causing her to look over at me.
"People? You creatures consider yourself people?" She asked, throwing her head back laughing.
I chuckled at the mentally ill woman in front of us. "You burnt down a house and killed a family. There were some humans in that house, Kate! You have the blood of innocent people on your hands. How do you live with that?" I spilled everything on my mind, as I stared at the woman carefully.
"You know what?" She aimed her gun at me. "Your next. Tell your mate I said hi." She went to pull the trigger.
"No!" Scott stood in front of me blocking me. "Don't you dare." Scott spat out.
"Isn't this a cute sibling moment." She aimed the gun at Scott. "I guess you want to go first."
"Don't!" I screamed, trying to push Scott out of my way, but he stood stubbornly.
She tilted her head staring into Scott's eyes. "I love those brown eyes." She went to pull the trigger then she was interrupted by the voice of Chris Argent.
"Kate! I know what you did. Put the gun down." Argent walked out, pointing his gun at Kate. Kate's eyes fell onto the house.
"I did what I was told to do." She uttered, aiming the gun at Scott. "No one asked you to murder innocent people. There were children in that house, ones who were human. Look what you're doing now. You're holding a gun at a 16 - year - old boy with no proof he spilled human blood." Argent continued to speak up. "We go by the code-"
"Nous chassons ceux qui nous chassent." I muttered, causing Chris to look at me and nodded with a smile on his face.
"We hunt those who hunt us." Allison translated, with a whisper.
"Put the gun down." I jumped when a gunshot when off, letting the bullet hit the tree beside her. "Before I put you down." Chis threatened, she lowered her gun. I ran past Scott, rushing towards Derek.
I softly touched his cheek. "Derek?" I slightly shook him. "Wake up." I uttered worriedly.
His eyes fluttered opened, as a smirk appeared on his face. "Happy?" I quickly pulled him into a hug causing him to wrap his arms around me, pressing a kiss to my forehead.
The wind whistles around us, Derek's eyes flashing up. My eyes fell on Scott whose eyes were flashing just like Derek's. "Allison get back!" Chris shouted, as he pointed his gun at the door.
"What is it?" Allison asked, backing up.
"The alpha." Scott and I revealed.

I hate being summoned. _________________________________ updates once a week until I get more time The idea for this story began in two places. One was the ridiculously rapid pace of gaining power in many novels. Both in games and in novels, I enjoy the struggle of the beginning character, why always the rush? The other was the way many monster or non-human MCs always seem to hurry to become human (again). It always felt like a cheap way to grant the character extra powers without the difficulty of writing a non-standard thought process. Thus I wanted to write the slow(ish) progression of a monster character gaining strength and intelligence, while remaining distinctly non-human. There are no stats, xp or systems, no reincarnated soul or completely formed being to start with - unless I want to make fun of those. While the MC 'evolves', the process takes months if not years to proceed step by little step. Sit down with me and imagine, what would it be like if...

These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts.
