it was 11:00pm and your husband still wasn't home. you were not worried though, he often came home late from work. he was a businessman after all and 'business never ends!' as he liked to say. he sometimes came home from work only to lock himself in his office and work til the sunrise. he wasn't a bad husband and he never neglected you, he was just busy. at the end of the day his wife and his son were his top priorities.
you were reading a novel in your bed with the bedside lamp casting a glow around the room. your four year old son, lifan, was sleeping peacefully beside you. he had fallen asleep while waiting for his daddy...uwu. sicheng usually called you if he was going to come home later than 11:30pm, but again maybe he was simply too busy.
his company was growing rapidly and they were setting up branches in other countries. sicheng's paycheck increased drastically within only a few months, not that you were complaining. how else would you afford the three story mansion that you were living in? you, sicheng and your son were living it up. it showed in everything you did. honestly your life was a dream come true.
suddenly, your phone rang. finally, a call from sicheng. you picked it up immediately, without looking at the caller id. under the assumption that it was your husband on the line, you answered.
"sicheng baby, when are you coming home? lifan fell asleep waiting for you!" you scolded playfully. the line was silent. "hello?" you said. only then did you look at the caller id.
it wasn't sicheng.
"turn off your lamp...unless, you'd like me to do it for you..." a dark ominous voice spoke. the call abruptly ended and a loud screeching sound came through phone, causing you to drop it and cover your ear. the screech was not like a scream, but like the sound a microphone makes when it's dropped.
your heart raced and you glanced over at the lamp. it suddenly flicked off
"what the fuck is happening," you mumbled, scared out of your mind. you didn't usually cuss, normally you stopped yourself by placing a hand over your mouth, it was a habit you picked up after the birth of your son. you didn't want his first word to be a bad one.
you got up soundlessly and headed towards the light switch. you flicked the switch. nothing. you flicked it up and down a few times. absolutely nothing. no electricity.
you jumped when your phone vibrated. you approached it with caution. you received a text.
11:21pm
! you have one new message
i told you i'd turn it off. you're lucky, i'm a gentleman.
that's when you went nuts. your breathing picked up and your head began to ache. you paced the room, as you dialed sicheng's number. you pushed your hair out of your face and placed a hand over your beating heart while waiting for him to pick up.
"c'mon answer the phone.." you mumbled quietly, trying to slow your breathing down.
"hello, this is sicheng-"
you breathed a sigh of relief.
"-sorry i couldn't come to the phone right now, i'll call you back soon. feel free to send me an e-mail." it was only a voicemail.
tears formed in your eyes, and for the second time that loud screeching sound returned. you threw the phone to the floor and neared your bed. you raised the mattress and grabbed a key, that sicheng always kept tucked there. "emergencies only," he always told you. this was more than an emergency.

you went around the bed and scooped up your son, he stirred a bit but stayed asleep. after locking your bedroom door, you headed into your enormous closet filled with luxurious clothes and shoes. you went to one of the racks and pushed the clothes to one side revealing a door and a keypad. when you had bought the house you always thought that it was too extra to have a hidden room in the closet, but sicheng insisted on having one saying that it may come in handy one day.
you stuck the key in, and punched in the passcode, which was your wedding date. the keypad beeped and then you twisted the key. the door slid open and you stepped. you closed the door after rearranging the clothes so that the door was concealed.
sicheng kept important documents, money and other items of great importance in the room. it was furnished, but there wasn't much only a couch, a desk, and two cupboards. on the desk were two computers that received and recorded live footage from the surveillance cameras placed around the mansion. there was at least one in every room except your closet and the room in the closet
you laid your son down on the couch and took a seat and the desk. you turned on both monitors and the footage loaded. you held your breath when you noticed two figures moving around in the house. how long had they been inside. one of the little screens showed a black suv in front of the house. you watched the two figures move around soundlessly, not touching anything. the figures appeared to be talking so you turned up the computer volume.
you sighed when you realized that they were speaking in korean, a language in which you were hardly fluent, sicheng had tried teaching but you always told him it wasn't necessary. i mean, how often do you hear people speaking korean in china.
"mommy, what are you watching?" a voice spoke. you jumped when hearing your son. he walked over to you and you placed him on your lap.
"it's a tv show.." you lied not wanting to scare him.
"but, mommy it looks like our house.." lifan replied.
"ohh it does..that's weird." you said acting oblivious. then it hit you, lifan could speak korean. it was one of the four language that he learned at his private academy. come to think of it, his school was quite strange. instead of art they had martial arts and they even provided computer classes.
were they trying to create child spies? you wouldn't even be surprised if you son was smarter and more skilled than yourself.
"baby i need your help, these actors are speaking korean and i need help understanding what's happening." you spoke, "can you tell me what they are saying?" you asked. lifan nodded and trained his big brown eyes on the screen.
the intruders walked around the house as if trying to making their presence known, one of them slammed a door and you tensed up, hearing the sound not only from the computer but also in real life. lifan didn't seem to notice.
"be quiet...we're not supposed to make noise.." lifan said as he translated. "how else will she know that we're here?..." he continued, still watching intently. "leave some things out of place." he said.
suddenly a phone buzzed, you reached to where sicheng kept the emergency phones. there were three of them, a flip phone and two blackberry phones. they were useful because they couldn't be hacked or tracked. the flip phone continued buzzing until you opened it.

"hello?" you asked cautiously. keeping your eyes on the screen, the intruders were leaving.
"hello, its jaehyun. you weren't picking up your phone. so i used the number sicheng gave me in the event that neither of you answer your cellphones." a familiar voice said. you were relieved to hear him, he was one of sicheng's best friends and co-workers.
"you might be frightened to hear this but sicheng asked me to call you. someone at the office laced his coffee with sleeping pills in the form of a powder. he got quite the overdose, but he's okay now. he should've gotten home at 10:00pm." jaehyun spoke.
"where is he now?" you asked slightly panicked.
"he's at the hospital."
"jaehyun, please come pick me up. our driver has already gone home." you said with a bit of desperation.
"i'll be there asap." jaehyun said before hanging up.
-
the drive to the hospital was long and silent. you were still in your sleeping gown, which was a bit revealing. jaehyun handed you his jacket the moment he saw you and looked away, with a light blush covering his cheeks. wordlessly you put it on and zipped it up, not evening caring that your 'goods' had been on display.
jaehyun sensed that something was wrong, so he asked if you were okay. you explained everything that had happened in a hushed whisper so that lifan couldn't hear. fortunately he was too busy enjoying the fact that he wasn't in a carseat to listen anyways.
jaehyun urged you to tell sicheng everything, but you refused and told him not to say a word.
when you arrived at the hospital, you grabbed lifan, and rushed inside. once you found sicheng's room. you burst in.
you sat lifan down upon entry and rushed to the bedside. "sicheng!" you cried as you hugged your husband who was sitting up on the hospital bed. he smiled and pulled you close.
"hi, sweetheart." he whispered softly as he rubbed your back comfortingly.
"daddy! i want hugs too!" lifan whined, using a chair to climb onto the bed and onto his father's lap. sicheng smiled at his son's voice.
"mommy, move! i want daddy too! i waited all night!" lifan pouted. you smiled with tears in your eyes as you took a seat near the bed. seeing sicheng was such a relief.
lifan sat on sicheng's lap and kissed his father repeatedly. "i missed you daddy, mommy is really no fun. she watches the cooking channel for entertainment!"
"shhh..mommy looks angry!" sicheng whispered to lifan.
-
it was already 1:00 in the morning and you were drained. sicheng was admitted from the hospital and you were on the way home. you sat in the backseat of jaehyun's car with lifan asleep in your arms and jaehyun and sicheng up front. sicheng turned around and quietly asked, "you look a bit upset...did anything else happen today?" he knew you too well.
"i'm just tired, that's all." you lied. he stared at you for a few seconds and then nodded.
after a week everything had seemingly returned to normal, and you still hadn't told sicheng about the incident with the intruders. you felt safe again so you didn't bother telling him, plus he had been around a lot more and you guys had been going out with your son almost every day. it was a good distraction.
sicheng had hired an investigator to find out who had drugged him that one night, and why. the entire company staff was interrogated, including jaehyun. it turned out to be the female assistant that he had hired recently. she said in her confession that she drugged sicheng, in order to sleep with him. you could believe the nerve of that bitch.
suddenly and randomly, weird things began to happen. there were more anonymous texts, cryptic letters in the mail and sometimes the electricity cut off at random times. you were getting tired of it. but you never told your husband.
you thought that things couldn't get worse. boy were you wrong.
one day you were in the kitchen preparing breakfast for lifan and yourself. sicheng had already gone to work. lifan sat on the counter singing songs that he had heard on the radio while you cut up ingredients for omelettes.
"stop baby don't stop~" he sang. your phone buzzed on the counter beside him and he grabbed it immediately.
"who is it?" you asked asked you began to frying the omelettes. lifan was like your little helper, with his smarts he could do practically anything.
"it's daddy, he said 'hi' with little hearts." lifan replied with a smile. he looked up at the clock on the wall above kitchen sink and waved like a crazy person.
"hi daddy!" he shouted. you looked at him strangely. probably just his active imagination. you decided to ask him about it before laying him down for his nap.
nap time rolled around and you were laying next to lifan whose eyes were drooping and his breathing grew heavier.
"lifan, honey what were you waving at this morning in the kitchen." you asked softly.
"nothing mommy." he mumbled.
"hey, what did i say about lying?" you questioned him, flicking his nose playfully.
"lying is bad," he said.
"correct, so tell me what you were waving at." you said.
"i was waving at daddy," he replied, you were about to ask another question, but he continued. "daddy said that there's a camera in the clock, and the video goes to his computer at work. so i was waving to daddy."
you were stunned, you didn't know that.
"if lying is bad why did you lie to me that day mommy?" lifan asked, looking at you expectantly. "you told me that, you were watching tv. those were camera mommy, that was our house. those people were in our house." he finished.
how did he know all that?
"you're right, lying is bad. mommy's is sorry for lying to you. i didn't wanna scare you." you replied quietly.
"mommy, i'm not scared of anything. i'm your protector. i'm not afraid."
-
when he woke up from his nap you asked him to tell you everything he knew about the house. he proceeded to grab your hand as he walked around the house pointing out every surveillance camera. just when you thought he was done, he lead you to your bedroom, stuck his hand under the mattress and grab the key. you followed him wordlessly. he lead to the closet, and asked you to move the clothes. he stuck the key in the door and stood on his tip-toes as he punched the code into the keypad.
you were astonished. you took him to the living room and had a talk with him.
"who told you about the cameras and the room," you asked.
"it was daddy." he replied honestly.
then he told you everything. he told you about his school, and how it was an academy for kids labelled as 'endangered'. where student learned from a young age how to protect themselves in life or death situations. the school prepared students for professions such as, international spy and secret agent, as well as teaching them the academic curriculum. you were really gonna have a talk with your husband when he got home. what was going on? why was your son endangered?
-
by the time sicheng got home you were asleep on the couch with the cooking channel on in the background. lifan was also asleep on a smaller sofa covered in blankets, you refused to let him sleep in another room without you since the intruder incident.
sicheng smiled at the sight and ate his dinner, which was on the stove. afterwards he took a shower and brushed his teeth. he joined you on the couch, sliding under you and repositioning your body to lay on him. luckily you were a heavy sleeper.
he heard your phone ring as he was drifting off to sleep. he grabbed it, and sat up.
"who's this?" he asked groggily.
"it's been a while...hello sicheng." a voice said, a voice he recognized. his eyes widened.
"taeyong?! what the hell do you want? how did you get my wife's number?" he asked, whispering harshly.
"tsk, where have your manners gone? no hello? winwin you're better than that." taeyong replied condescendingly. "speaking of your wife..she's a tough nut to crack. she hasn't told you of my visit and my texts...and letters and-"
"what are you talking about?" sicheng questioned
"i sent a few of my men over to give her scare a while back. that night you were sent to the hospital." taeyong replied.
"how did you know i was in the hospital?"
"you seems a bit slow. your old assistant, lauren, worked for me. she drugged you so that you wouldn't be around when my men invaded your lovely home." taeyong spoke, "...and can i say, your wife is absolutely ravishing. just look at her now, in that silky black night gown with the low neckline ..."
sicheng glanced down at you on his chest. taeyong had described exactly what you were wearing at the moment. he sat up slowly.
"oh, and your son looks just like you, look at him wrapped in all those blankets." taeyong said carelessly. sicheng looked at his son covered in blankets of all colors. oh god.
"should i continue...y/n looked like an absolute goddess when she stepped out of the shower earlier...ah! and a word of advice, you guys should use protection unless you want another little one. regardless, i enjoyed the show yesterday. y/n's moans are quite heavenly." taeyong rambled.
sicheng was livid, he stared up at the camera in the living.
"i'm gonna kill you the next time we meet." he mumbled into the phone.
"winwin don't be naive.."
"don't call me that."
"i hope you haven't forgotten our deal, if you have, i'm sure you'll remember once i get my hand on your son and that beautiful wife of yours.." taeyong said menacingly.
sicheng reached under the couch and pulled out a handgun, out of pure rage he stood up, aimed for the camera and shot it.
"wrong one..." taeyong laughed creepily into the phone.
sicheng turned to a second camera and shot it as well.
"you've woken up little lili and y/n...i'll catch you later." taeyong said before ending the call.
sicheng threw the phone at the wall and shot it as it fell. you quickly awakened, after hearing a third gunshot, at first you thought that it was your imagination, but sicheng standing in front of you with a gun was one hundred percent real.
"what are you doing? is that a gun?" you asked frantically. sicheng, in his fury, ignored you and continued to shoot every camera in the house.
lifan covered his ears as he sat up, "mommy what is daddy doing?" he asked, yelling over the noise of gunfire. you ran over to him and held him close to your chest, with your hands over his ears. sicheng had disabled every camera in the house then returned to the living room.
"lifan, i need you to go to your room and pack your things, just like we practiced." sicheng spoke, throwing the gun onto the couch.
without a word, lifan removed himself from your grasp and ran upstairs.
"sicheng, what the fuck is going on! first the intruders then lifan tells me all of this crazy shit that you told him not to tell me, and now you're shooting up the house like a fucking lunatic!" you yelled having completely lost your mind.
"baby, listen to me-" sicheng began.
"no! shut up!" you yelled "who are you?!" you asked in tears. "you are not the man i married! seriously who are you?! i regret ever marrying yo-"
"y/n!" he shouted, causing you to become silent. he grabbed your wrist and pull you close. "don't even finish that sentence, don't lie to yourself like that." he whispered softly, his breath lightly tickling your neck.
"there is a lot i haven't told you, i admit. but you have to trust me. everything i do is for you and that little boy upstairs, for your safety. i promise you'll know everything soon, but right now..we've got to leave." sicheng spoke.
"do you love me?" he asked. you nodded. "i can't hear you sweetie..do you love me?"
you sighed, "i do.."
"do you trust me?" sicheng asked, looking into your eyes.
"i do sicheng." you replied.
"give me your wedding ring.." he said. you grabbed your ring, which you had placed on the table before you had fallen asleep and handed it to him. sicheng pulled a chain out from under his t-shirt, on it was his wedding ring. he carefully unclipped the necklace and slid your ring on next to his. he reached around your neck and clipped the necklace back together, letting it rest gently on your chest. he leaned down and placed a short kiss on your lips.

You were bought from your parents when you were only a small child at two years old. You don't really remember your old family at all. That's a good thing, since you would hate them on sight for selling you to her. All you've know for your whole life is pain. You are usually quickly healed and receive a lot of training and experience as her unofficial apprentice. It's unofficial because she would never pay to have you registered as an actual apprentice. To everyone else, you are just the boy she took pity on and brought into her home. What they don't know is that you are much more than that. So much more. You are her food. She uses you as her own personal buffet and she indulges herself quite often. You even have the permanent scars to prove it. You have learned many things from her, mostly without her knowing, since you have been helping more and more with her spell work the last few years and her potion making. The only parts you can't do are the magic condensing rituals that her potions require and the mana infusions that a lot of her other creations need. Do you wish to initiate the Main Storyline with these parameters? Please Note: I publish daily.Second Note: I changed this story to a fan fiction. It is based on Swamp Boy. The old story is about 4 years old and was dropped after 19 long chapters. The author hasn't been online since then, so I figured it was safe to do my own take on it.
