Indigo skipped ahead of Sev with a bright smile on her face. She recently got paid for one of her paintings so of course she was going to the mall to spill a bag. "Why you so happy"Sev asked as he wrapped an arm around her. Indigo shrugged her shoulders.

Her depression always had her in weird moods. One day she will be happy one day she won't. Depression is not just being sad and dying your hair. That misconception is so irritating. Depression is being disconnected from the world.

It can be different for everybody and her's is so tough on her. It makes her overthink, doubt herself, even starve herself at times. Her depression makes her hate herself, she just can't look at herself and be happy.

She honestly didn't even know why she was happy. This time of the year was normally a bad time for her seeing that her dad's birthday was right around the corner. Maybe it's because she just earned 9,000 dollars for a painting. Hopefully she stays happy.

"Ooo let's get cinnamon balls", Indigo said, pulling Sev with her towards Auntie Annie's. "The fuck is a cinnamon ball", Sev asked looking at her. "Umm the bread things with cinnamons", Indigo described as she played with her fingers. Looking at her Sev held his laugh in, "Pretzels".

"Same difference", Indigo muttered.

Ordering her pretzels Indigo sat in one of the high chairs. "Lemme get one", Sev said. Taking one out Indigo held it close to his mouth. Opening his mouth he bit into the pretzel then licked the sugar off Indigo's fingers. Blushing Indigo cleaned her fingers on the napkin.

Looking up she saw Sev staring at her, "What", she asked raising an eyebrow. Licking his lips he said, "Nothing".

After eating and cleaning up the table they walked to the Foot Locker. "I want some crocs", Indigo said looking through the shelves. "Ugly ass shoes", Sev said to her. Ignoring him she picked out a sky blue pair. "You like these", she asked him.

"They aight", Sev said as he texted someone. Going to one of the workers she tapped his shoulders asking, "Do you have these in a size six". When the person turns around she can her heart speed up.

He was not only the boy she saw in Popeyes, but she was also the one she saw in her dream. Looking at his nametag she saw that his name was Violet. Scoffing Violet walked away from her. He clearly knew who she was from his picture.

He started walking away before Indigo grabbed his arm, "Wait, I hope I don't sound weird but I think we're related". Snatching his arm from her he replied, "We are. But I don't want nothing to do with your ass".

Indigo sat in her room singing to Blame on Myself. It's been a week since she saw Violet in the mall. Since then she has been isolated herself in her room. On top of that her dad's birthday was this weekend.

"You're going to school cause I'm sick of them people calling me", Kenji told her as he entered her room. Smacking her teeth Indigo turned to the other side. It has been a week since she has attended school.

Suddenly she felt her eyes hurt as the light was turned on. Looking towards the door she saw Black standing at the door, "Respectfully you look a hot ass mess". Hissing Indigo got out of her bed. She honestly was not in the mood for anything.

"Come sit so I can fix your hair", Kenji said tapping the floor. Grabbing a comb she sat on the floor. Brushing her hair, Kenji parted it before putting it into two buns. Laying her edges he put some clips to add a little color.

"Go get dressed", he said to her. Going into the bathroom she did her normal routine before throwing on one of Kenji's old shirts and a pair of sweats.

Thirty minutes later she was walking into the cafeteria. The day was already halfway over, there really was not a point of her really going to school anyway. "I thought you died", Sin said as she sat down.

Ignoring him she sat down putting her head on the table. "You okay mama", Ria asked her. Shrugging her shoulders she didn't say anything before laying her head on Ria's shoulder. Lately she has gotten really close to both Ria and Dess. Close enough to tell them her backstory. Before she even knew it she eventually fell asleep.

"Stay still", Sev said as he tried to concentrate. He was currently painting Indigo's toes white as she laid back on his bed. As he finished up on the last one he blew over her feet trying to make the paint dry.

Satisfied with his work he laid back next to her, "You gonna tell me whats wrong". Indigo turned to the other side trying to ignore him. After getting tired of him bothering her she turned back saying, "Remember the boy we say at the mall? I think he's my brother, like my twin brother".

Before he can even say anything she kept on talking saying, "And it's fucking with me cause does that mean my parents gave him up".

"Imma lil confused start from the beginning", Sev told her. For the next thirty minutes she explained her parents passing, foster care, her ain't shit ass grandma, and her mental health conditions.

"Try to sit him down and actually talk to him. Ion think your parents gave him up for real", Sev told her. "He said he doesn't wanna talk to me", Indigo said pouting. Shrugging his shoulders Sev said, "He's prolly just upset, he's going to eventually talk to you".

"Yea your right", Indigo said as she played in his hair. Leaning back on the bed she can feel herself start fall asleep before Sev tapped her leg.

"Lemme eat it", Sev said, glancing at her. Indigo choked on her saliva before saying, "Hmm". Looking her directly in her eyes he repeated, "Lemme eat it" as he tugged on her shorts.

Ameena walked around the Foot Locker looking for her intended target. Her niece, Indigo, told her about meeting her so-called brother. Ameena knows that her brother and his wife did not give their child up.

This situation doesn't even make any sense. This past week feels like she's living in a lifetime movie. She was in the hospital when her brother was told that one of the kids was dead. It makes no sense at all.

Looking to the left she saw him, the minute she saw him her eyes widened. He looked just like her brother there is no denying. Walking up to him she tapped his shoulder before he turned around raising his eyebrow asking, "How can I help you".

Clearing her throat she responds, "My niece came in here the other day. I just want to ask you some questions". Laughing in her face Violet responded, "If its about what I think it is respectfully get the fuck out my face".

As Violet starts to walk she calls him one more time saying, "Give me five minutes, that's all I ask". His attitude made her want to say fuck him but she just could not bring herself too. Nodding his head he said, "Give me ten minutes".

Ten minutes later they were sitting in the food court staring at each other. Ameena was in shock over his resemblance to both her brother and Indigo. "You gonna talk or not". Quickly tearing her eyes away from him she asked, "Who did you live with".

Scoffing he responded, "This bitch named Jay and his girl Diamond". Ameena's jaw instantly dropped and the dots were starting to connect in her head. "Jay killed my brother and his wife", she gently told him as she watched his jaw clench. He was clearly trying to put this together in his head.

"How did you get over here last time I checked they lived in Nola", she questioned. Violet explained to her his story, of course leaving some parts out. Nodding her head she says, "I know your upset, you have every right to be. But on Saturday we are having a small dinner. I want you to come".

Thinking for a second he said, "I'll think about it".

Thoughts on this chapter?

Aight imma rant to y'all real quick. The main thing I hate about Wattpad is the colorism. You barely ever see darkskin girls in a book and when they do it's a bad role. It's either the side chick, the angry girl, or the jealous baby mama. Meanwhile the main character is an unproblematic light skin.

You see the problem? Yea I most definitely do.

On top of that it's the same people that y'all use are seen everywhere. I told someone this and they got ode mad. They were like ohh it's hard to find fc.

No tf it's not I have over 100 fc in my folder. Pm if you need one. We need more diversity in these books. Sick of seeing the same light skin and mixed girls. Like in this book my main character is dark skin. One of the other characters is part of the LGBTQ community. Diversity. Don't be scared to mix it up

Thanks for coming to my Ted talk ❤️ imma do these after each chapter
