《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 39: Curiosity killed the Cat

The whole day was slow and boring. The kids went home before I woke up, so I didn't get a chance to say goodbye. Since I woke up around one, I decided to go for a run instead.
The weather channel is warning us about a storm, and a very high chance of heavy rain which will be very new in this city. Jen has been in her room talking to Ian the whole day and Heath has also been in his room doing what not.
Nobody came down for dinner so I just cooked myself some pasta. It's around ten now and I'm currently working out in their gym.
I haven't strictly worked out in a while so I'm going all out tonight. I don't know what to expect at the meeting tonight, but all I know is; it's not going to be good.
I'm currently punching the lifeless punching bag hanging from the ceiling. "Whow, whats got you working so hard?" I hear Heath's voice behind me.
I steady the bag before I turn around to face him. He was wearing a black t-shirt under his black leather jacket and black pants to match it all. "Adrenaline." I reply.
Heath hands me a fresh towel along with my water bottle. I wipe my face with the towel before taking the water bottle from him. I drank the refreshing water all in one go. "So where are you heading out to?" I ask crossing my arms feeling a little self conscious, because I was only wearing a pair of Nike sport shorts and a sports bra. My scars were returning because the self tan was fading off.
"What makes you think I'm going out?" He asks smirking.
I was about to answer when my head starts spinning. I open my eyes wide, but I see two Heaths standing in front of me. I stumble forward and feel his arms slip around my waist. "What the.." I couldn't finish as my head started to feel heavy.
"I'm so sorry Princess." I hear Heath whisper into my ear before carrying me in his arms bridal style. I wanted to protest. I wanted to scream. I wanted to follow him. I wanted to help him. But all I did, was get pulled into a deep and dark sleep.
*********
I gasp as I wake up in a panic. What the fuck happened?! I look at the scattered bed sheets. I was in my room at Jen's house.
I was in the gym.. Heath gave me a towel and water... Fucking ass whole spiked my water?! I grab my phone and check the time. Eleven twenty five.
I put my phone down and run into the closet. I put on a pair of dark blue jeans, a white shirt, and a black leather jacket. I leave my hair in its messy waves.
I grab my phone and wait for it to track down Heath's. After a few seconds, it tracks his phone at UCLA. He's on campus?

I don't waist another second as I quietly run down the stairs and down to the parking. I decide not to take my car just incase anyone recognizes it. I grab a random key off the board of keys and press its button. Heath's motorcycles light flashes and I run up to it.
I immediately start it and start driving towards campus.
I stopped a few streets away from campus just so they don't hear me. I run the rest of the way. I walk onto campus and see Heath standing at the garden where we had made our bet. Why does everything wrong happened here?! I sneak behind one of the trees without getting noticed, but what I did notice scared me.
"What are you doing here?!" I whisper yell.
"Me?! What are you doing here?!" Jen whisper yells.
"I'm here for Heath."
"So am I." Jen states.
"So you knew?" I ask.
"Heath's bad at hiding things." Jen states. We both avert our eyes to the person walking up to Heath. He didn't look too old almost as old as us. He wore a jean jacket and baggy blue pants. The wind was much more stronger on this part of the state so I had to hold my hair out of my vision.
The two of them start talking and things got heated quick. I could tell Heath was pissed, his face was so red I could see it from twenty feet away. Heath grabs the guy from his collar and spits some words in his face.
The weird thing was the guy was calm as fuck. Something is not adding up. I look around the campus. The only thing visible were the trees dancing along with the wind and the abandoned dorm rooms.
But right then, my eye caught onto blue clothing in the dark. It was behind a green bush a few feet behind the other guy. I traced the clothing into a man. I soon traced him enough to see he was pointing a gun right in Heath's direction. I look at Jen who was busy looking at Heath and the guys one sided conversation. Fuck Riley, do something!
I see that the guy was ready to shoot. Before I knew it, my feet took me running towards Heath through the forceful wind. I push Heath down and I go down with him just in time before the sound of the a gun covers the area. We both groan in pain as we land on the pavement. "What the fuck?! Riley?! Wh-" before Heath could finish the guy he was talking to pulls out a gun and points it towards Heath. Heath looks stunned, but then his face turns cold. So cold it made the hair on my neck stand on their ends.
He kicks the guy's foot and the guy lands flat on his back. Heath and I both get up immediately, but we get jumped by the guy who shot the first shot. Rain starts to pour down as Heath continues fighting the guy.

The guy with the baggy pants gets up and points the gun at me. I take his arm and snap it back all in one move. His scream radiates in waves through the whole campus.
He falls down on his knees and I knee him in the head. He plops down unconscious. Breathing heavily I turn to where I hear grunting. I saw the other guy punching the life out of Heath. I went up to him and punched him in the face. He got up from on top of Heath and walked towards me. I tried to swing at him, but he grabs my arm and punches me square in the jaw with his free hand.
I shake my head to get my vision back, but I lose it again when he punches the air out of my lungs. I fall down on my knees and start breathing heavily. I start coughing out blood. I look up to see the guy smirking at my misery. He was about to swing again when Heath's voice stops him," S-stop! Sh-she has n-nothing to do with this." He says hardly holding himself up.
The guy looks down at me one last time before he goes back to Heath," No!" It came out more as a whisper than a yell.
Heath was too weak to fight him off and the rain wasn't helping my vision improve. I look around for help and my eyes stop on the gun in front of me.
I crawl up to the gun and wrap my fingers around it. I slowly get up on my weak trembling knees. I felt nothing, but adrenaline.
I point the gun towards the guy's direction. I could see Heath's blood mixing with the puddle next to him on the ground.
"Dad please, don't I'll do anything for you. Whatever I've done I've always done for you!" I cry pleading. For Heath Riley. I remind myself.
"This guy over here ruined you Riley! He made my efforts on you go weak! If he lives you'll never truly be mine." He says pointing the gun at Jack. Riley, he's going to kill Heath.
"P-please! Dad! Please! He was stupid just give him another chance! Please!"
"You need to learn that every mistake comes with a price Riley." He pulls the trigger. I pull the trigger with my trembling hands.
"NO!" I was crying with the rain. The bullet penetrated through the guy's skull and he plopped dead in an instant. I take a deep and shocked breath. I look at the gun held in my hand in disbelief.
"No. No, no, no, no!" I cry. I fall down on my knees, yet once again. I scrunch my hair in my hands. "No- I just- I-I'm just like him." I sob. My heart rapidly pounding against my chest. I had no idea what I was doing. My body was here, yet my mind was somewhere else.
I feel someone's hand on my shoulder. I look up to see Heath kneeled down in front of me. His face covered in bruises and blood. "Riley, you need to listen to me." He says like he's talking to a child. "We have to go."
I look behind him at the dead body. "No. I-I k-killed-"
"Riley stop." Heath growls angrily. He pulls me up to stand. I see Dylan and Jen run up to us. All of us soaking wet.
I just killed a living person. "What happened?!" Dylan asks.
"They tried to kill me." Heath growls his jaw clenched tight.
"They're not going to let you go for killing one of his men." Dylan states.
"He-Heath d-didn't-"
"I know. We have to lay low for a while." Heath cuts me off. I look at him in shock. Did he just take the blame for me? "And Jen I'll deal with you later."
"I'll take care of the bodies before someone sees anything." Dylan says.
"I'll take Riley with me and you take Jen with you, okay? Keep her safe." Dylan nods and Jen looks very pale. She must be terrified.
Heath turns around to face me. He puts his hands on my shoulders," You need to trust me, okay?" I weakly nod. Do I trust him? I just killed a person for him. I can't blame him for it, he didn't make me shoot the other guy. Heath peels my hands off of the gun, I had no idea I was still holding, and tucks it under his shirt. He takes my hand and drags me off campus. "Give me your keys." He says and I do as he says.
He follows the lock sound of the bike. I just killed a person. That gun was in my hand. The bullet went right in his skull. The blood. I feel my eyes burst out in tears. "Riley get on." Heath says.
"No, no no I-I killed-"
"You did nothing Riley. Listen to me you did nothing. It was self defence. All you did was snap a guy's arm and I shot a person dead. My fingerprints are on the gun now." He states.
"What?! No! You're not taking the blame for me!" I cry.
"It's too late Riley. Just get on. Please." He begs. He can't take the blame for me.
I get on the bike and curl my arms around his waist. Without another second wasted he drives off.

This is the tale of an earthling, who transmigrated as a dying third-rate god but somehow rose through the ranks, gaining followers and eventually causing the Fourth Great Apocalypse. ☆ "Have you ever heard of the God of Games?" "The God of Games..?" Eleena shook her head in puzzlement. "I have never heard of Him…" "What if the God of Games could give you the power to defeat your enemies?" Xi Wei coaxed patiently. Eleena remained silent for a while, before resolutely lifting her head and fixing her gaze on Xi Wei. "Then I am willing to become a believer of the God of Games!" "Belief isn't something to only be spoken by mouth. Close your eyes and envision His name in your mind, and feel His power with your heart," he said solemnly. "O Master of Games, grant us new life!"

8 109Bastard's Wrath
The Wyvern reared its humongous head, serpent neck coiling back, onyx scales of opulence shimmering in the dimness of the cloud smothered sky. It spoke, eye's ashen, like the surface of a star, "What is it you desire, boy?" The word's rolled from it's pointed maw, tongue flicking, it's deep and ferocious voice sending the ground below rumbling. Damien looked up, hair sodden with rain, his face battered beyond recognition, his lips curled into a snarl. He had gone past the point of being frightened; he was tired of his weakness. He spoke, voice wavering, mist floating from his mouth in the coldness: "I want them dead. I want everyone who stabbed me in the back; dead." The Wyvern smiled, rows of teeth exposed, "Then sacrifice it. Sacrifice your humanity." - The story of a bastard within a crippled family, who beyond all odds becomes known as the Greatest Swordsman to live: the one that, even the Gods, would someday fear.
