《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 29

"Riley will you hurry up?" Jen asks getting annoyed.
"I'm coming." I say from the bathroom. I fix up my make up one last time and head to Jen.
"Finally." She groans and I smile walking past her to my car.
I get into my car and Jen sits on the passenger seat. "You're really going to drive a Ferrari in heels?" Jen raises her eyebrows.
"No." I laugh. I take my heels off and put them on the side under the seat.
"Why did I not go with Ian again?" Jen asks.
"Because Luke is at home meaning not his dorm, I didn't want him to go past the restaurant to pick me up and go back again. You're here because I also didn't want to go alone." I smile.
"Oh." She exaggerates. "What a nice girlfriend you are." I roll my eyes and start the car.
After a fast drive, we get to the restaurant in under ten minutes. On normal speed it takes about twenty five.
"Remind me never to get in a car with you again." Jen remarks. I chuckle. Jen exits the car as quickly as possible.
I wear my heels and exit as well. I hand my keys to one of the ushers," There better not be any scratches on my baby." I eye the guy who looked around his mid twenties. He nods and drives my car away.
"Reservation's under Denver." Jen notifies the girl sitting behind the counter.
"Oh yes, Heather can you please show them to their table?" The girl says to another waitress. The waitress nods.
"This way please." We follow the waitress to the back corner where a rectangular table was. I noticed that everyone was already there.
"Thank you." I say.
"No problem, please feel free to look through the menu. When you're ready to order just press that button and I'll be here as soon as possible." She smiles and leaves. Jen takes a seat beside Ian. I sit beside Luke in front of Jen. Dylan and Kylie were sitting across from each other. Heath sat on the other side of Ian. And Kat was nowhere in sight as I notice the seat on the other side of me is empty. I look at Luke and smile as we lean in to kiss.
"So where's my date Princess?"
"She is ah..." I look around and spot Kat coming in. "She's right there." I smirk. "Hey," I smile as she sits down beside. She wore a nice blouse and a pair of jeans.
"Hi." She greets back.
"Guys this is Kat, Kat this Luke, Jen, Ian, Dylan, Kylie, and Heath." I introduce everyone.
Heath smirks grabbing Kat's hand from off the table and kissing the back of it," Nice meeting you beautiful. You're on the basketball team, right?" Kat nods pulling her hand away.

"Oh my god I remember Heath ran around the house chasing me for that." Jen laughs.
Dinner's going great. Kat really mixed in with everyone even Heath, and it's not as awkward with Luke here as it is at lunch.
We've all been talking, so Luke hasn't had a chance to ask me about break. I'm planning on just lying about it if he doesn't find out some way.
"So Kat, what are you doing over winter break?" Jen asks.
"I'm going over to my mom's place." She says gulping a spoon full of her ice cream dessert.
"What about you?" Kat asks Jen.
"I'm going home for the break with Heath and- OW!" Jen screams. She drops her spoon and her hand hits flat down on the table causing it to shake. Jen glares at me for kicking her from under the table, but I give her a 'I'm a sorry' look.
"What happened?" Dylan asks suspiciously.
"Ah- I- I.." Jen looks at me for help.
"Her and Ian were playing footsie that's what happened. Right?" I ask Jen who starts blushing. Everyone at the table starts smiling, but Jen glares at me again. I am so dying tonight. I mouth 'sorry' to her. Good thing Ian is just smirking and not saying anything.
"So if everything's normal." Luke says," Who else is going with you?" My eyes widen as he brings up the question again. Before Jen could make the most unbelievable excuse there is, I spill the red wine, that I was about take a sip of, on my clothes. Everyone gasps.
"Riley." Luke sighs.
"My dress." I whine trying to make it seem a little more realistic. Luke passes me some napkins and I start wiping it off. Man this is sticky.
"Just so the question doesn't come up again it's Riley who's going with us." Before I could even make out who was talking they had finished and I just stared at Luke's surprised and hurt expression.
"Riley?" Luke asks me disappointed.
"Ah, I- I wa-w-"
"If you guys don't mind, I just need a little bit of fresh air." Luke gets up to leave.
"Lu-Luke I was going to tell you." I say, but he leaves and I end up sighing.
"What was that about?" Heath asks grinning. The waitress walks in with the dessert and I wait for her to put the dishes down and leave.
After she leaves," I hate you. You knew I didn't want him to find out. Why do you have to be such a dick all the time?" I say angrily as I make out that he was the one who said it. It honestly wasn't that hard to tell. He had this big smirk on his face and a glint of evil in his eyes, but as soon as I said what I had said his smirk had dropped. I scoff getting up from the table and head out to find Luke.

Dessert. Again. Why do I never get to eat my dessert?! I internally pout. Wait, there's something I was about to do... oh! Yeah... Luke.
I walk out in a panic and look around at the crowded streets. I look down to my left and there he is sitting on the bench outside of the restaurant. I quietly sit beside his poor posture.
I slowly scoot over until there's only an inch left between us.
"I'm sorry." I sigh looking down at my hands which were rested on my lap. I nervously wait for him to reply, but he doesn't. "Luke I'm not going to lie. I wasn't planning on telling you, only because I didn't want to hurt you. I swear if I knew that you wouldn't have had practice over break I totally wouldn't have planned anything. Just talk to me... please? You know I don't like silence." I wait for a couple of minutes, but he's just too focused on looking down at the ground like it's made out of diamond. I feel my heart drop when he doesn't respond at all. "Fine then be like that." I get up.
As I'm about to go back in a warm hand wraps around my left wrist. I turn around to see Luke standing up behind me," What?" I snap a little too harshly. Luke holds both my hands flat on his palms, so I fully face him. His head down so I can't see the emotions running through his eyes.
"I love you Riley. And I can't believe you weren't going to tell me. I thought you trusted me more than that?" He finally looks up at me with his gloomy blue eyes. "I'm mad, but not because you're spending break with Jen and Heath, but because you didn't trust me."
"I did and I do. I swear Luke. I. I just didn't want you to get mad or sad over who I was spending my time with."
"Yes at first I was disappointed that I wouldn't get to spend break with you, but I would've gotten over it if you had just told me yourself. You literally tried everything to avoid answering the question, you even ruined your outfit." I look down at my white skirt, now stained and I frown. I'm literally so stupid. I should've just told him. Riley, you're an idiot!
"I'm sorry. I promise that nothing like this will ever happen again and next time I'll tell you everything straight up." His hand creases my left cheek and he finally smiles.
"You better." He says as he leans in to kiss. He gently moulds his lips with mine and I kiss him back. The kiss was short and sweet which sent a warm feeling through my body.
"We should get back." I say remembering that I had left my friends stranded. Luke nods and I pull him inside behind me with our hands intertwined.
Once I take my seat, I notice that the spill had been cleaned up.
"Everything good?" Ian asks.
I smile and nod. I look down at my dessert and smirk. I grab a spoon and dig into my ice cream.
"Mmm." I savour the delicious taste of cookie dough ice cream. Everyone laughs at my reaction. Except for Heath who looked a mixture of angry and lost?
"You look like you haven't had ice cream since forever." Dylan states.
"Cookie dough is my favourite and don't ruin my moment." I scowl taking another spoonful.
*********
Luke and I are now standing outside of the restaurant waiting for our cars. All of us are standing away from each other talking with our other halves as we say goodbye to each other for the next two weeks. "I'm really going to miss you." Luke says.
I blush," Luke, I'm not dying I'll see you in two weeks and we can still FaceTime or text each other." I reassure him.
"I know." He pulls me in for a tight hug. The hug felt gracious, yet he was hugging me as if it were our last time. I couldn't help, but feel like my heart had dropped down to my stomach once again.
"Luke?" I pull away," What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He says stuffing his hands into his pant's pockets.
"Okay?..." I really hate pushing subjects and I really don't wanna push this one, only because I know what the answer might be and it's already terrifying me.
I gulp to try and push the feeling down. The usher pulls up with my car. I smile vaguely," I'll see you in two weeks, okay?"
He smiles and nods. He leaves a lingering kiss on my forehead before I get into my car. "Driving a Ferrari in heels? Sexy." I hear Dylan comment. I look at him and Kylie standing together. A smirk plastered on his face, but Kylie's expression gave me an uneasy feeling. I ignore her expression.
I've been feeling too uneasy lately and it's not good.
"It's called skills." I smirk. "You should try it one day." Jen sits down on the passenger seat.
"Nah, I'm good I don't think they have heels in my size." Dylan replies. We both laugh. After a few seconds, I turn the car's engine on and wait for it to heat up. I look at Luke who's still standing outside of my window.
"Bye." He says.
"Bye." I say before stepping onto the gas and driving off.
I'm not having a great feeling about break anymore. I pout unknowingly.
