《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 28

It's December! It has been two months since I was in the hospital and saw Logan. I gave Heath and Logan their right full shares and everything's been going on perfectly.
I haven't had any flashbacks of Jack. Luke and I are also doing great. We had a couple of arguments here and there. Most of them were pretty stupid, but I loved the way he would got me flowers and chocolates that had cute messages attached to them.
The other couple's Jen and Ian, and Kylie and Dylan have also been great. I don't see Dylan or Heath as much as I see the others. I always wonder why, but they always brush it off by saying they had stuff to do off campus.
Honestly I just think it's because of Luke and I dating. I'm just happy that they aren't trying to force me out of this relationship.
Basketball practice has been going on. I got two weeks off of practice because of my injuries where Kat filled in as assistant captain.
Her parents filed the divorce in court and her mom moved out of the house. I invited her over and we had a 'Fast and Furious' marathon with a bunch of ice cream and chips.
Other then that, the last two months went flying past because winter break is starting in two days. Coach is leaving for break so we don't have to worry about practice. Which means I have two week to do anything I want!
"Hey?" Jen asks me.
"Mhm?" I ask stuffing my mouth with chips. Jen and I are currently having a homework session. Actually more like listening to music and texting every two minutes session.
"What are you doing for the break?"
"To be honest. Nothing. I thought I would just stay here and sleep."
"You're kidding right?" She sounds a little shocked.
"Do you even have to ask?" I laugh.
"You and your sleep. Haha, but on a serious note I wanted to ask if you wanted to spend it at our place with Heath and I?"
"Heath..." I honestly don't know where Heath and I stand. Like I said we've hardly seen each other. When we do it's mostly just an awkward smile.
"Oh come on I'll be there and Heath's not a bad guy. He's been a little off since you started dating Luke. That's it."
"I know, but I just miss our childish behaviour." I smile thinking about the pranks we did when I newly came. I really miss those days...
"Who said we can't start the pranking again?" Jen grins.
"Are you serious?" Excitement lacing my every word. She nods," Yes! I am so ready then." I smile.
*********
"Quadruple date?" I repeat Dylan's words.
"Yeah." He nods.
"What? Why? Is that even a thing?" I ask.
"Because we're probably not going to see each other over break and we should all do something together. Also if it's not a thing we'll make it one."
"That's a great idea baby." Kylie kisses Dylan. I roll my eyes.
"Fine, but Heath is currently single and I will not let him bring any of the walking STDs he fucks every other night." I state bluntly.
"Hey. They are very good in bed and they are definitely not STDs. I got tested." I put my fork down and don't feel hungry anymore.

"You got them in bed didn't you?" He nods," So they are STDs."
"Fine, if you have such a big problem then why don't you choose my date?" He challenges me.
"Fine, but you can't deny whoever I bring and you better not even try anything on her." I clearly state.
"You're saying it as if you already know who you're bringing." Heath raises his eyebrows.
"Who said I didn't? You'll meet her at dinner on Sunday."
"Fine, Princess." He grins.
"Soo, what does everyone have planned for break?" Kylie asks trying to make things less awkward. "Jen?"
"Ah, Mom's and Dad's place." She smiles. I notice Heath's grin drop into an angry expression.
"Ian?" Jen asks looking at him flirtatiously.
"Heading home, sorry I can't spend it with you babe." They both frown, but kiss each other to feel better.
"Dylan?" Ian asks.
"Staying at Campus." He states and Kylie looks sad, but tries to hide it by smiling again.
"Well, I'm spending it with Jen and Heath." I eagerly announce to get Kylie and Dylan's attention to avert to me. I smile once they do.
"Luckyyyyy!" Ian says like a little kid. We all burst out laughing and Ian scowls at everyone.
A pair of hands, from behind, covers my eyes and a small gasp escapes my lips. I calm down when I have an idea of who it could be. "Guess who?" His familiar voice asks.
I grin," Luke." He removes his hands and I turn around in my seat. He leans down to kiss me and I kiss him back.
"Where were you?" I ask.
"Coach held me up." He says.
"There's no practice." I state as he grabs a chair from another table and sits beside me.
"It was other things." I raise my eyebrows, but I don't push it further.
"Hey guys." Luke greets the others at the table. Everyone nods, Kylie and Ian were the only ones who actually said hi back.
"So there's a dinner Sunday night. You're coming." Kylie says.
"Oh, okay." Luke smiles. We all sit there awkwardly as no one decides to talk anymore. I know everybody's trying to be nice to Luke, but I would appreciate it more if they'd actually talk. On the other hand I'd rather not push my luck.
Luke leans in next to my ear," Can we talk somewhere private?"
"Ah, sure." I whisper back. We get up," I'll see you guys later." I smile before leaving with Luke.
Luke snakes his hand around my waist and we start walking outside. Once we get outside ," What's up with you?" I ask suspiciously.
"Nothing." He doesn't look at me.
"Really?" I ask him giving him a 'I don't believe you' look.
"Okay, fine I was talking to coach because I wanted out of practice over break." He says.
"Why?"
"Because I want to take you out on a trip with me."
"Where?"
"Greece." He smirks.
"Greece? Luke." I smile hugging him. How am I supposed to tell him I already planned out my break without hurting his feelings?
I sigh letting go of him,"What's wrong?"
"I..."
"You what?" He asks curiously.
"I already planned something to do over break and it doesn't involve staying here and sleeping." I sigh staring at my shoes.

"Riley." He lifts my head up. He looks at me like he's a lost puppy that wanted a home.
"Oh come on. Really that face?!" I frown," I'm sorry, okay? I thought that you were going to be busy with practice all break so I just made other plans." I sigh and he grins.
"What plans?" Before I could make up a bad excuse my phone rings. Yes! I take my phone out. Kat. I read off the caller ID. I love her, today.
"Sorry I have to take this."
"Okay, but I'm taking you out to the movies tonight just the two of us." He narrows his eye. I nod and he kisses me before running off.
"Hello?"
"Riley!" I hear Kat scream on the other end, and I move my phone away from my ear just a little.
"Yeah?..." I ask cautiously.
"Why were you not picking up your phone it's been like two minutes." She complains.
"Sorry, I was just saying bye to Luke. What's up?"
"Nothing much. I was just wondering weather you wanted to go shopping tomorrow. I literally have nothing to do all weekend."
"Nothing to do huh?..." I smirk devilishly.
"What are you thinking Riley? That voice always scares me and it's never good." She says.
"Will you do me a favour? Pleeeeaaasssse!"
"What is it?..."
"Ahh come to dinner with the gang and I Sunday night?"
"What's the catch?" She asks.
"Go as Heath's date." The words flow out really quietly.
"No!" She shrieks.
I throw my other hand up in the air," Oh come on! Please! I made sure he won't touch you or do anything inappropriate. I swear."
"No. No matter how cute, hot, or sexy he is. He is bipolar. You literally never know when you'll set him off and he's slept with so many girls I'm afraid I'll get some sort of disease sitting next to him."
"Oh, stop exaggerating." I sigh walking into my room.
"Am I Riley? Am I really exaggerating?"
"Okay, fine it's true. But I haven't gotten any diseases so you're in the clear. Just please come. Pweaseeee!"
"Oh my god Riley." She groans.
"Pwease?" I say in a sad and lonely voice.
"Fine. Ugh."
"Yaay! Thanks. Love you! And I'll give Heath your address he'll come pick you up." I sweetly say.
"No. I'll get there myself. Just send me the address of the restaurant."
"Okay." I laugh. "Thanks Kat." I kiss through the phone.
"You're crazy. I love you too. But you owe me. Big time."
"Don't worry I know." I smile.
"So shopping tomorrow?" Kat asks.
"Kk. I need to go shopping for new clothes. I swear it's not going to be Christmas without snow."
"You'll get use it. Eventually."
"Yeah." I frown a little at the thought of no snow during winter.
"Okay, I'll talk to you later. Bye."
"Bye." I say and we hang up.
I'll pick you up at 7

"That was a great movie." I tell Luke as we wait for our desert to arrive.
"Yeah." He looks at me smiling in deep thoughts.
I feel my face heat up at his stare and I unknowingly smile.
"Stop." I whisper shyly.
He laughs," I still can't believe you're mine. Riley, promise me that no matter what happens you will never doubt my love for you."
I scrunch my eyebrows as his request sent an uneasy feeling throughout my whole body," Why are you saying that? You know I would never doubt you or your love." I state.
"Just promise me, please?" The desert arrives.
"You know you're scaring me, but... I promise." I sigh.
"Thank you." He holds my hand from across the table.
I look down at the untouched desert. Why would he make me promise that? It's probably nothing. But this feeling. Ugh! "Ah, Luke I'm not hungry anymore."
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah, I'm just feeling a little off. I got my period today." I make up a random, yet believable excuse.
"Oh. Okay." He says," Waiter?" The waiter comes," Can we please get our bill?" The waiter nods and leaves disappearing behind the employees only door.
He returns with the bill and after a brief argument between Luke and I, he ends up paying. We drive back silently.
Luke walks me up to my dorm room. "Riley?"
"Yeah?" I face him.
"I'm sorry I brought you out I didn't know you were ah-"
"It doesn't matter, I had a great night. I usually have no problem when I'm on it, so tonight was pretty rare." I try to avoid eye contact.
"I also wanted to ask. What are you doing for break?" Crap. I can't tell him. I don't want him to think I'm spending my time with Heath over him. Riley, think!
"Um, ah- I-I-" The door creaks open.
"Get out. Before Riley comes." I hear Jen whisper yell. Luke and I's heads turn towards the door where Ian and Jen were currently making out. After I get over the shock, I awkwardly clear my throat. "Huh? Oh! Heyyy, Rileyyy." Jen greets awkwardly while Ian scratches the back of his neck.
"Hey guys." I smirk. "What's up?"
"I was just leaving." Ian says.
"Uh-huh." Ian leaves before I could say anything else. A smile tugs at the end of my lips.
"Jen?"
"I-I was about to sleep." She says with bright red cheeks. I start laughing as she closes the door.
"Hahaha," I face Luke. Break. I sober up," Ah, I'll see you on Sunday for the dinner, okay?"
"Yeah," he nods pulling me closer to him by wrapping his hands around my waist. "I love you." He warmly kisses me.
We lean our foreheads against each others and our breaths mingle. At this moment I feel like I just want to stay in his arms forever and feel his warmth wherever I go. "I love you too." I smile and let go of him walking inside my room. I stand inside of the door," Bye."
"Bye." He says and walks away. A cold wind rushes over me before I close the door.

Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder
I, Mick Chadwick, regret to inform my readers that this memoir contains nothing but the truth, which in the case of Tobias MacClain, most ridiculed as Pajama Boy, is far from pleasant. If you seek to relate to a hero more than to aspire to them and have the stomach for unpleasant things such as a hero left for dead, villainous scars, bomb threats, and murderous intent, then look no further. All of these gruesome things and more await from my research, and though I do not wish them on any man or woman, I cannot bear this burden on my own much longer. In the words of Tobias MacClain himself, "Sometimes, a villainous act can cause the greatest good." I hope that all my villainous acts of sneaking, blackmailing, diary-reading, and grave-digging, among others, will be redeemed as I present this complete and truthful memoir to the world, and with any luck, open eyes to the truth of what we call "villainy". Doctored Chance: The Unpleasant Preceding of "Pajama Boy" and What Drove Him to Murder ********* MATURE FILTER IS FOR:- violence- graphic imagery (blood, burns, fairly dark headspaces)- cartoon depiction of burn scars for visual aid Despite graphics, Mick Chadwick's writing keeps Mr. MacClain's terrible tale light somehow. This is foremostly a comedy.
