《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 2

My music blares through my ears as my eyes follow word for word reading one of my favourite books The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
My day wasn't that productive. After everything happened, I went looking for the office. I got there approximately twenty minutes later. Mr. Jenkins, the principal, was pretty welcoming. He even took some time out of his busy schedule to introduce me to Mrs. Larsen, the girl's basketball coach. She conveyed the impression of being very nice, but I won't judge her by a brief meeting. I'll wait until practice to see how she actually is.
Next, I walked around campus trying to find my classes. I have computer science, history and English this semester. All the classes were pretty close to each other, so I should have no trouble getting around tomorrow.
Jen showed up a little while ago, apologizing for her brother, and also congratulated me on my confidence. She felt really sorry about not being able to show me around, because she had a party to go to tonight. She insisted on dragging me along, but I was being my stubborn self refusing to go, and so she eventually gave up trying to convince me. It's eleven thirty now, she told me she'll be back a little after midnight.
Apparently the cafeteria delivers food to your room, so I ordered two slices of pizza. I actually don't have money to pay for that, but Jen left me some. I told her I'll pay her back right after I get a job. Keeping that in mind, Jen mentioned that the school's book store is hiring so I'm going to go, and apply there tomorrow. Being honest, money isn't that big of a problem for me. I can afford pretty much anything I want and even more. I've decided to keep that on the downlow for now, just because if people knew that I have a lot saved they'd want to know where I've got it from. And that my friends is a whole different story I would not like to share just yet.
Even through my music I hear my door being knocked at. I insert my bookmark into my book, and close it. I then pull out my headphones on the way to grabbing Jen's money. Knock. Knock. Knock. "I'm coming!" I yell.
I walk over to the door. I twist open the door knob only to find out; no one's there. I swear I heard someone knocking. I think to myself, and close the door. I was walking back to my bed when the knocking on the door started again. I walk back and open the door. Again no one's there.
"Seriously? Pranking the new girl? How mature!" I walk down the deserted hallway. Good thing everyone is at the party. I glance back and forth to spot someone, but no one catches my eye. One step at a time I slowly walk to the end of the hallway. Without any warning everything falls dark. I'm still alive. Aren't I? I pinch myself and immediately yelp in pain. Why did I have to pinch myself so hard?! I rub the tender spot on my forearm.

"Great, just what I need; a power outage," I sigh deciding to go back into my room. Just as I was about to walk back inside the door slams shut in my face.
"Hey! Who's in there?! Open the door!" I yell pounding on the door, but there's no response.
"Ugh!" I huff in anger. My stomach decides to join in on the complaining my growling. All I wanted was food!
"This isn't over! I will find out who's behind this and rip your eyes out of their sockets and shove them up your fucking ass! Ugh!" I swear I'm not this easy to tick off. I stomp my feet like a two year old, and walk outside to get some air.
Stupid university students and their annoying pranks. To be honest I don't believe in the whole ghost thing, so if they want to scare me it'll take a lot more then knocking on a door, and turning off the lights.
I regretting coming outside the instance the chilling air makes contact with my bare skin. Los Angeles might be hot in the mornings, but nights can be really cold too. My pyjamas which consist of black adidas gym shorts and a loose t-shirt that I cut the sleeves off of weren't exactly the best thing to wear in the frigid cold of autumn.
I walk out barefooted, to a grass field which was surrounded by trees and had a couple of benches. The area was silently peaceful. Most of the campus was empty tonight for two main reasons. One it's a Sunday night, so they're probably snuggled into the warmth of their beds, or they're out partying like Jen and Kylie.
I stood in the middle of the forestry area examining nature. Everything seemed so much more calmer at night with the dull colours, silent howling of the wind.
"HOLY!" I gasp unfolding my arms. An impact of a water balloon makes me turn around trying to spot the culprit. I could feel my face pale from the sudden attack, and my increased heart beat also proved my tense stage. Finally, Heath walks out from behind a tree wearing grey sweats and a white t-shirt.
"Heath! What the f-" Before I could finish I was hit with another water balloon. Joining Heath into the fun, his two friends come out of nowhere and start spraying me using water guns. The substance coming out of the guns did not feel or smell anything like water, instead the liquids smelled like raw eggs combined with expired milk.
"Ah! HEATH! GUYS! AHH! Stop! Stop! Stop!" I beg frustrated. The humiliating attacks stop only to be followed by their loud laughing.
Oh. They are going to die tonight. I wipe off any unwanted content off of my face. I glare at them wanting to rip their heads off. My hands were fisted at my sides.
"Oh, come on princess, suck it up," Heath winks mocking me.
Breathe in.... and out. I close my eyes to focus and calm myself down. I open my fists as I become more calm, "I'm guessing you didn't take my advice as a warning: now did you? And you still probably don't know anything about me either? I'm just guessing, I mean you're pretty easy to read; stupid and a typical bad slash playboy."

I wipe my hands off on each other to get rid of anything stuck on them. I made my way closer to Heath. I could feel the increase of weight in my t-shirt because of everything soaked into it. The only thing I was relieved about was that I was still wearing a bra underneath. Don't want to be flashing the three bad boys at my school on the first day now.
"Oh really? Just judging a book by its cover now aren't we? And if we are doing that, I can easily tell that you're just another slut playing hard to get," he says with the equal amount of confidence.
"Nope," I say popping the 'p'. "Unlike some people I actually do my homework. I knew this wasn't going to end any time soon. So I know a lot more about you then you know about me, and please do not take this as stalking. Take it as 'shit what does she know about me?' kind of thing. And I did also warn you about not calling me a slut, the sooner you get that through your thick skull the better," with this, his smirk was wiped right off his face.
"Aw what happened? Is the bad boy feeling intimidated by a little girl like me?" I use my best impersonation voice of a baby. I also pout my lips at the end to keep with the act.
"Listen here you little piece of shit," he says grabbing my arm right above my elbow and pulling me closer to him. Since he's taller than me, I had to look up right into his eyes now dark brown eyes." I'm warning you. Don't mess with someone you have no chance against."
I dig my nails into my palm keeping myself from doing something I'll regret later. "I thought it was all fun and games here. You can't really be scared of me, are you? If I'm correct, you're probably just too scared of taking any chances, because you know you'll lose, or give up if you go up against me?" I wiggle my eyebrows playing against his limits.
"Scared of you? Please. I mean look at you, you're covered in raw eggs and expired milk; I'm not scared of you. You should be the one scared of me," he scoffs letting go of me.
"You were covered in gatorade this morning. Actually, I can see the faint dye of blue on your face which is very amusing if I may add. But, that has nothing to do with this," I point out like a detective. "And since I'm covered in raw eggs and expired milk now, you shouldn't mind if I try to make it even, now would you?" I start before he could respond. "What am I kidding? I would try even if you did. You messed with the wrong girl Levers." His friends make an 'Ohhhh' sound at my come back.
"Fine," he says. "If you want to play so bad. Let's make this even more fun. We prank each other whenever, wherever. First one to get enough, and admit it to the other person, loses. If you lose you have to do one thing that I tell you to do, and if you win I'll do one thing you want me to do," he says bringing his smirk back. "Deal?"
First day of university and this. I'm not scared of competition or anything, but I'm going to have a job, and school to care about I don't want to waste my time on this idiot. "Looks like someone's scared? Thinking of backing away already?" he says mocking me with his own baby voice.
"Deal," the words drip out without any thinking attached. Guess I have to stick with my voice. I walk past him, slightly brushing his shoulder. The bewildered look on his face was radiating all over the campus. I didn't even have to look at his face to know it.
"Oh, and Heath, if I were you, I might not want to sleep tonight, or any night for as long as the deal goes on," I nervously bite my lip, and walk away towards the girl's dorm room.
I open my room's door only to find my bed covered with silly string, toilet paper and raw eggs. "UGH! I'm literally going to murder that jerk one day!" I slam the door behind me. I grab my clothes and head to the shower.
This is one of the longest days I've ever had. After I shower, I dry my hair, and take the dirty sheets on my bed, off. The raw eggs had leaked through the sheets onto the mattress. Great. I roll my eyes.
I'll have to get my mattress washed after school tomorrow, so I decide to make myself a bed on the floor with Jen's extra sheets. My first class is English at eight so I set my alarm for six thirty.
Before I go to sleep, I read the time on my phone which displayed one oh five.
That kid will regret this deal. I smirk mischievously at that thought, and doze off thinking of all the ways I could possibly get revenge.
A/N:
How was it? Did you like it? Have you picked a team yet?! Team Riley or Heath?!

He's also heard of the many tragedies, as well as the many wonders humankind has created in its history, even if he has yet to see it in person. Following the philosophy of his teacher, Gin Kagan, Zeta intends to become a "Servant of Humanity," in an endeavor to protect mankind from its gravest threats, from power-hungry sigma-users, but most importantly, from itself. He's going to need a lot of allies to pull that off, even if he doesn't understand that just yet. This story is originally published at www.sigmacentral.wordpress.com.
