《Bad is an Understatement | ✓》Chapter 1

After the whole fiasco, I could feel that my face had turned beet red as I walked away from the scene. What a fucking jerk. How could he?! He can't just turn this whole thing on me?! I don't need his attention, and especially not by almost getting myself killed. What an arrogant jerk.

I take another right while walking down a hallway, and to my luck I had walked into the cafeteria. I look around the huge crowded area. I try to remember how Jen looks. She has straight dark brown hair, an exceptionally pale skin tone, and she was as tall as me probably around 5'7.

Between all the tired looking university students, I finally spot Jen in the lineup getting food. I walked over to her. I walk up behind her, "Jen!"

Her whole body jolts in surprise,"Oh, shit!" Jen turns around putting her free hand on her chest while her other hand almost drops the empty tray," You scared me!"

"Sorry," I sheepishly apologize.

"It's okay," she laughs. "You're so cute. What took you so long?" She asks as I grab myself a tray, and budge into the line standing next to her.

"I'm new, I got lost, and even worse I met this fucking air headed man whore," I say trying not to think about what happened.

"Ewh," she says making a disgusted face. "I'm sorry, it's my fault. I should've waited for you. It's just that my friend messaged me to meet her as soon as possible."

"Don't worry about it.Hope it wasn't anything serious," I say genuinely smiling. We make our way down the line. I grab a green apple, bottled water, and sandwich for myself placing them all on my tray.

I follow Jen to a table where a blonde girl was sitting. "Hi! You must be Riley! My name's Kylie," she says, her words full of excitement.

"Haha, yeah," I say as I sit down in front of her, and Jen sits beside her.

"So? Riley, what made you choose this humble university also known as UCLA?" I laugh at her sarcasm. Kylie's very pretty just like Jen. Though Kylie had blonde hair, and a more tanned skin tone like me. Except I have really dark brown hair. I felt like a mixture of both of them.

"Um, well," I think. "I actually got a full paid scholarship for basketball. And I wanted to move somewhere far from home. To explore the world. You know?"

"I get you a hundred percent," she says. I like her, Jen, and UCLA. Except for one guy so far my day was going great, and I hope it stays that way.

"So Riley, you were saying something about, and may I quote a fucking air headed man whore," both Jen and Kylie burst out into a fit of laughter.

"No, I'm serious," I say with a dull tone. Soon they stopped laughing, but it was obvious they were forcibly compressing their laughter.

"It couldn't have been that bad," Kylie says.

"Well let me tell you, it was so bad that I could've died because of that air head," and their eyes widen in horror. Point proved. I smile at my victory. I like winning even if it's in little things.

"Okay whatever. By your reaction I don't think you want to go into too many details, so just forget about it. It's a big school there's hardly any chance that you will ever even see him again," Jen says reassuring me. I nod taking a bite out of my sandwich.

"So Jen, I told my whole life story to you, but I still don't know anything about you. What are you trying to hide?" I say wiggling my eyebrows. I can't believe I'm already so comfortable with them.

"Well lets see. Where should I start?" She asks mostly talking to herself. "Hmm, well. My full name's Jennifer Levers. I grew up here in LA. I haven't traveled much; really want to. Umm, I'm twenty two currently single. Oh! And the best part of my existence," sarcasm lingering her every word in the last sentence. "- I have a twin brother."

"Seriously? That's so cool, I've always wanted a brother or a sister."

"Trust me you do not," Jen argues.

"You're an only child?" Kylie asks sounding a little excited.

"Yup," I say popping the 'p'.

"Yes!" She says putting her hand up signalling a high five. I slap my hand with hers. "Finally someone like me," she says happily. Jen laughs, because of our childish behaviour.

"Does your brother go here?" I ask Jen.

"Yeah he was suppose to meet up with us today. I don't know what's taking him so long. He was so excited to find out that a new girl was coming onto campus," she says. Suddenly, her eyes avert to something behind me as the whole cafeteria goes silent except for some girls look like their eyes are going to pop out of their sockets soon," There they are."

I don't turn around.

"Riley that's my brother Heath," Jen continues. I was in the middle of drinking water from my water bottle when I stood up, and turned around.

In a split second, all the water in mouth comes blurting out onto Heath's face," You?!" I say in shock.

Heath wipes his face out of resentment, and in that moment he sees me. His face priceless." You?! You're the new girl?!" I narrow my gaze at him.

"You two know each other?" Jen asks.

"Yeah. He's the fucking air headed man whore."

"Ohhh, makes sense. I should've known by the description," I couldn't help, but let out a laugh at her response. That only lasted short due to Heath's angry glare.

"That's twice princess. You're so going to pay for this," he says with his deep voice.

"What?" I reply dumbfounded,"Oh," I say as I remember what he was referring to. "I'm actually sorry about this. The other thing was your fault, so it's only been once. And now I guess we're even."

"Oh no. I'm not letting you off the hook for this," he says. He takes me off guard by stepping forward, and snaking his his right arm around my waist. He pulls me up against his front. All the eyes were hooked onto us, and some girls even gasped at Heaths sudden move.

He leaned in closer, closer and closer right when his lips were about to meet mine he turned his face. His warm breath circulating my earlobe.

"You know you need to control what comes out of that pretty little mouth of yours. It'll get you in a lot more trouble than you're already in," he whispers in the most dominating, yet sexy voice ever.

But he should know I'm not the kind of girl that falls for guys like him. I felt his right hand lift off my back, reaching for something lying on the table. I smirked having an idea of what he could be reaching for. Before he could bring his hand back, I stopped it behind my back.

"You know Mr. Levers," I say with utmost confidence. "You should know who you're messing with before you try to make the scale uneven," as I back away from him, I seductively bite my lip.

Guys are so stupid. I bit my lip, and he looks like he's already getting turned on.

His eyes were full of shock and confusion. I mean, he's probably thinking how could a girl not fall for his tricks? This thought just made me smirk. And yes. Girls do smirk.

I guess after I got back to school being the oldest girl there; I got hit on a lot. And I might've learned how to use that to my advantage.

As I was feeling proud of my skills, I noticed this is his weak spot. I trailed my hand down his arm behind my back all the way down to his hand where I felt something like a water bottle in his hand. Without a second thought, I lifted his hand up from behind me, I turned around under his arm, and out of his trap in one swift move.

When I was turning around, I noticed that there's no lid on the bottle. Since, I had his wrist in my hand I twisted it right above his head; causing the blue liquid to pour all over his head. Both the blue gatorade trailing down his face, and his expression contributed in causing Jen, Kylie, two other guys (I had no idea who they were) and I to burst out into a endless fit of laughter. Ah... gatorade. You just gotta love it sometimes. That is so going to stain. I laugh even harder at my thoughts. "

"Where... have.... you been... all my life?!" Jen says literally tearing up with laughter.

Most of the girls in the cafeteria gasped, and gave me stares that clearly screamed 'how could you?!'

Eventually everyone stopped laughing, and I was the only one. I look at Heath who was glaring at me so hard I might as well have died. A thousand times over. But I won't let him know that he actually kind of scares me. I mean who is he, thinking that he can control me. "Come on pretty boy suck it up." I say carelessly pushing his buttons.

Soon Heath's silence, and deepening glare was getting to me. "If I was you, I would run," one of the guys says teasingly.

"Well, it's a good thing I'm not you. Now isn't it?" Heaths change of expression was actually very amusing. From glaring, to a smirk and now glaring again.

After a while. "Okay. Seriously speaking," Kylie says while one of the guys' hand rested around her waist. "If you guys keep staring at each other like that people are going to start wondering things."

Soon, the glaring also known as "staring" was averted towards Kylie. But I understand where she's coming from. The last thing I want is to be known by the bad boy. I give up, and scoff at his behaviour right before I walk away.

Right when I was about to past the exit, I get yanked back by my arm, and slammed into a wall. "Shit." I mumble as the impact of the wall on the back of my head was a little too overwhelming. I try to loosen his grip on my wrist, but he pins them to my sides.

"Ugh! Heath get off me!"

"No," Anger evident in his tone. "I don't know who you think you are coming here, and acting like you don't care about anything. Now listen here Princess, because I'm not going to repeat myself. Here's a couple of rules that I'd like to enlighten upon you. Number one, you do not talk back to me. Number two. you don't mess with me or the rules," he says up close onto my face. "I've dealt with many bitches like you, so I suggest that you follow those rules. Unless you want to end up like them," he leans in. His mouth lingers near my ear just like before," Used."

He's fucking sick. How could he say that he'd use me, or any girl at that. We are not things that can be used for pleasure, and when they get bored thrown out like trash. His words made my blood boil.

My heartbeat was faster than ever. I have to control this situation. I will not show him any weaknesses. Coming back to my senses, my breathing, and heart beat become rhythmically slow and calm which wasn't hard to do for a basketball player. He looks very amused to see me struggling, because his smirk was back. But soon enough so is mine. "Damn you might seriously have some sort of mental problem," he says stunned by my confidence.

"Fuck!" He says right when I knee him in the balls. He's literally crouched down holding his prized possession.

It was pretty funny, but I had to be just as serious as he was. I lift his head up by putting my index finger under his chin, and get just as close as he was; teasing him like he was trying to do to me. "I'm not a kid so you really didn't have to number off the rules," I explain. "But since it's hard for you to get my words through your thick head I'll make sure to be extra loud and clear this time. You might think that you run this place, but you do not run me. Understand? And the sooner you understand that, the better it is. For the both of us," I warn staring right into his eyes before walking away. I was more than amused by his dumbfounded expression.

I stop, and turn back around facing him. "And one piece of advice. Please do some research on the person before you start messing with them."

"Same goes for you too, princess." Looks like he's recovered from his trauma as he is standing taller, and more proud than ever. I roll my eyes at him as I make my way out of this absurd scene.
