《the human (r.h)》thirty nine; she wolf

"You know I'll have to go back at some point." Delilah George was staring up at Rosalie Hale's ceiling, her eyes focusing in on the tiniest cracks that were starting to form in the foundation.

"No you don't," Rosalie Hale meanwhile, was stood looking out of the window, however once Delilah spoke, she turned herself around to look at the brunette. "Why do you?"

The vampire could sense the accusing tone behind the blondes words, but she chose to ignore it. "Because they're my family."

"No they aren't." Her tone was getting a bit more aggressive now. "We are."

Even though Delilah was now on good ish terms with the Cullen family, it didn't mean that there were no hard feelings. Of course there were. Delilah would claim, time and time again that she was fine with all of the family members- minus Edward- but Delilah wasn't against a bit of lying.

A snort came from Delilah's nose, "Sure, you guys are."

"What does that mean?"

"What mean?" The brunette sat up, placing all of her weight on her elbows.

"That snort."

"I didn't snort."

The blonde rolled her eyes, "Then what was that nose?"

"I don't know," Delilah rolled her eyes back, "But it wasn't a snort." It was a snort.

"Whatever, I don't care." Rosalie moved to stand above near the bed, "How can you say we aren't your family? And how can you ever wanna go back there?"

To Delilah it was obvious. The Volturi may be bad people, but they were amazing to her. Sure, they'd made her do some bad things, but no matter how bad she did, they loved and accepted her. Even when Delilah told them how she quite fancied girls, they still accepted her, which was rather unexpected seen as it was unusual to their times.

So of course they were her family, and of course she wanted to go back. While Rosalie was her home, Rome was where she belonged. She could be her true self and they would never judge her.

Meanwhile Delilah's frowned upon for drinking human blood, or even just telling Bella she's having a devil child in the Cullen house- and that's something almost everyone agrees with.

"I dunno. I just like it there." But for some reason, Delilah didn't really want to tell Rosalie that. It was just that she wouldn't understand, to Rosalie the Cullen family was all she needed. They were everything to her. So, even though they'd wronged Delilah countless times, she couldn't bring herself to tell Rosalie that her family wasn't all she thought it to be.

"It's because we don't drink human blood, isn't it?"

"What?" Delilah almost laughed, "No it's not." It was one of the reasons, but still, Delilah was embarrassed to admit that.

Rosalie started pacing the room as she spoke, and while she was speaking to Delilah, it also felt like she was speaking to herself, "That's why, I know it! It's because we don't like it, and you hate that we hate it when you do it! I see your face when you get back, it's like.... it just like...I don't know the word."

"Rosalie, I-"

"You aren't happy here. And it's because we don't drink human blood. You're not happy and it's because of me."

For a brief second, Delilah threw her body back onto the bed, her arms bouncing around her as the mattress moved up and down, "What are you even talking about? Of course I'm happy with you. I literally resented your family for ruining it between us for all those months," And because they did treat Bella as superior, but that didn't matter right now, "I love you, Rose, but...but I don't even know anymore."

She did know, there was so much she wanted to say. There was so much on her mind. But while she looked at Rosalie's pained face, she just couldn't say it. This was the girl she loved, and while she hurt her in the past, Delilah couldn't bring herself to speak any more words to hurt Rosalie.

"What don't you know?" It was almost like Rosalie was scared to ask.

Brown eyes searched Rosalie's pale face, "Nothing, forget I said anything." The brunette moved quickly to place a quick kiss against Rosalie's lips before rushing out of the room, "I'll be back soon, I'm just hungry."

Delilah ignored Esme's warns about the wolves watching the house outside, she didn't care. There was only one person she needed to see right now. She's just lied to Rosalie's face, and she couldn't stand to be in that house now.

"Hey there." Delilah wasn't scared of the wolves, they weren't a danger to her because she knew she could take them on. And for some strange reason they never tried it on with her, they knew she wasn't there to hurt them either. But it wasn't any of the main pack that she was interested in speaking to, it was the disgraced members that she wanted to speak to right now, "Where's the she-wolf?"

The wolf form of Embry just looked at the vampire for a little while, she was completely different from the girl he once knew, but he could still see some elements of her in there. So once he was done observing he nodded his head back, knowing that they'd been lurking somewhere near him.

"Thanks, baby." Delilah patted the wolf on the head before running through the trees, really she didn't need to ask where Leah was, she could smell her for miles.

It was Jacob that spotted Delilah first, a scowl making its way into his face at the sight of her, he hadn't forgiven Delilah for all she'd put Bella through, he never would forgive her for it. So as he watched her making way out of the trees, he made his way into them, deciding her entrance meant that it was his time to sit with Bella.

"Is that the Seth Clearwater?" Delilah walked up, her finger pointing towards the chest of the teenager, "Rumour has it he's the new stud of Forks and La Push!"

Seth laughed before running over to throw his arms around Delilah, "Rumour has it that the Delilah George is back ruining the lives of the citizens of Forks!"

"Call the Pope, the rumours are true!" Delilah felt as though a weight had been lifted off her shoulders while she was laughing with Seth, it was the first time since she'd returned to Forks that she truly felt happy.

"Call the Pope? Are you even Catholic?" Seth pulled away, the same big smile on his face.

Delilah screwed her face up, "Of course I'm Catholic, do I not seem Catholic?" Then the vampire pouted her lip out.

"Lilah, you're a lesbian, you absolutely do not seem Catholic."

Leah, who had been watching the whole conversation closely, decided to jump in, "So lesbians can't be Catholic now?"

"No, they can-"

"-I mean, exhibit A." Delilah gestured along her whole body as she spoke.

Seth just looked between the two brunettes, his eyes lingering on each for a while, "I'm leaving before I'm bullied anymore."

"No one is bullying you." Sounded Delilah as Leah said, "Whatever you baby."

Now this was when the awkwardness kicked in. Delilah and Leah were alone. The pair hadn't seen each other for months, and to be honest even when they say each other before it was a little awkward. But now so much had changed, Delilah wasn't even sure Leah wanted to speak to her.

"I like your....." Delilah didn't know what to say, but she knew she needed to say something, and that something needed to be something nice. She'd been making a real effort to be sweet lately, and she couldn't let herself down just yet, "your...." but sometimes it was so hard to be nice, "....hair. I like your hair."

There, easy as pie.

"I've not had it cut since you left."

On second thoughts, maybe it wasn't as easy as pie, "Well....it suits you."

Leah turned her full body to look at Delilah now, her eyes intensely staring at the girl, often looking her up and down. At least Delilah wasn't the anxious type. "What do you want? You're being nice, and I got told that you aren't nice anymore."

The brunette rolled her eyes, there was only one person who could be telling Leah that she wasn't nice anymore, "Jacob been spreading more lies has he?"

"Were they lies?"

No they weren't, but Leah didn't need to know that, "Obviously. Jacob hates me just as much as Edward does apparently. The pair of them can't stop spreading hate about me. It's jealous I swear, maybe a bit of fear too, but-"

"-don't care, Delilah."

"Delilah? Ouch, thought it was Lilah to you."

"That was before you were a leach."

"Oh sue me! As if I could help being attacked against my will and turned into a vampire. I hardly signed up for this. But besides, I was dying anyway."

"Maybe you should have died. How many lives have you taken now? None of the people you killed would be dead if you had just let nature run it's course."

Now Delilah had come here because she wanted some support, but it seemed that Leah was in no mood to offer Delilah any support. Which meant Delilah was no longer in the mood to be nice. "Nature run its course? This is what nature wanted, Leah. Do you think this earth would really have survived without me? God, the world would crumble, or the apocalypse would start. This is nature's course, you're just sad you didn't play a bigger part."

"I could have played a bigger part though, couldn't I? If only I'd have kissed you back, then I'd be the one with you now, not Rosalie."

Delilah couldn't help as the laughs fell from her lips, "Thats what all this is about, isn't it? You're bitter because you wish you did kiss me back. Aw Lee, sorry that Rosalie just had more to offer than you did."

Leah scoffed before turning around and making her way into the woods, "You know," She briefly paused to speak, "Things had gotten a lot better while you were gone. The Cullens were happy. So were the wolves, and so was I. Even Rosalie was happier without you. But that's just what you do, isn't it, Delilah? Bring everyone else down, so you can bring yourself up?"

"It's not my fault that I'm better than everyone here, is it?"

Leah didn't speak another word as she turned and left the space the pair had been stood in.

Almost as soon as she had left Delilah felt regret start to grow in her chest. She didn't mean to be nasty to Leah, she came here with pure intentions, she was even trying to become a better person. However, it seemed impossible to do.

Of course Delilah didn't believe anything Leah said, just like she didn't truly mean anything that she had said. But that didn't mean that the final words of Leah hadn't stuck with her. While none of their little argument had made much sense, it was just harsh words being thrown back and forth to hurt the other, the aim had been achieved. And Delilah really was hurt.

So the vampire sat down in the same woods that she'd felt the same in so many times before, but without tears coming out this time, it just didn't feel the same. In fact, nothing had felt the same since Delilah returned to Forks.

Maybe Leah was right when she said that everyone was happier with out her. Sometimes it sure seemed it.
