Delilah George had spent most of her life pretending to be someone she wasn't, mainly because she had no idea who she truly was. She never felt like she really belonged, so she did everything she could to be accepted.
But it wasn't until Delilah was told that the only treatment the doctors would give her, would be to soothe any pain, that she realised it was all for nothing.
No matter how popular, or pretty, or loved Delilah was, it wouldn't save her. She was past the point of saving. Mentally, physically and internally.
The extent of Delilah's condition wasn't very clear until she had a full body scan, and had a few more samples taken. It was only then she began to understand the severity of the situation.
And to put it into simple terms, Delilah George was dying.
The doctors didn't understand why, but Delilah did. She remembered a conversation that she had overhead when she was under the care of Carlisle. She could hear him telling Edward how amazed he was that the venom had no effect on her body, even though it was left inside her for so long. He had thought she would have started the process of changing. After all, no venom was taken from her until it was sucked out of Bella. And that was a whole twenty minutes or so later.
It took a while for it to all become clear to the brunette, mainly because she could hardly remember hearing the conversation. But one night while she was wallowing in self pity, it somehow came back to her, and the girl hadn't been the same ever since.
She had long ago entered the five stages of grief, or as Delilah liked to call it; ;
(1)
(2)
(3)
(4)
(5)
She had made the last one up as bargaining should have been number three but she didn't think she had anything to bargain for.
So she was now well into the section labelled , and was not throughly enjoying it.
All Delilah could think about was how she would die, would it be painful? Or maybe it would happen while she slept and she would never even know, or maybe she'd just collapse at school and she'd forever be remembered as the girl that died in the hallway.
However, first she had to accept that she was actually dying. Which was a rather difficult task. Especially when all the girl did was go to school, and then get home and stare at her bedrooms wall.
It however, wasn't very hard to convince her family members that she was dying. While Tommy and Nia were not the most nurturing parents, they still loved Delilah in their own special way. Delilah never thought they did until recently, because the two parents would now wait until they thought Delilah had gone to sleep, to cry. She would often open her door slightly and hear them praying to god to make sure that their daughter would be okay and that by some miracle she would be fixed.

They weren't as bad as Maya though. When Maya first found out she cried for weeks, she would sob her heart out to Delilah and then pass out from exhaustion while holding her. The two sometimes had a rocky relationship, but Maya was convinced that her and Delilah were two half's of the same person. Without Delilah, Maya couldn't exist properly.
But no matter what Maya said, or how her parents reacted, Delilah could not bring herself to accept the fact that sooner or later, she would no longer be around.
That was until one day when Delilah was sat with her friends in the cafeteria.
The morning has been hard for the brunette, she'd woken up with dead puffy eyes from all the crying the night before, and her skin had gotten so pale that it looked like she'd never seen the sun before. It physically pained Delilah to look at herself in the mirror, which is why a few tears ran down her face as she applied foundation with her bare hands. Something old Delilah would have hated to do.
But somehow, despite the hard morning, she had managed to make it into school and through her first two classes. Until break time, all she needed to do was survive a few more classes and she could go home and back to bed.
However, that was a lot easier said than done.
The brunette had been growing irritated recently, mainly because Bella Swan's life only seemed to be getting better, while hers got worse. Which Delilah didn't think was very fair. Sure, Bella was her best friend and Delilah wanted the best for her. But Bella wasn't the only one that had lost her love, Delilah had too, and Bella wasn't the one with vampire venom running through her veins and rotting her insides.
Delilah tried to be happy that Bella was finally talking and sitting with her friends again, she really did try, but it just got to the point where it was too hard.
"Hey Lilah, would you like to come out with me and Bella and this weekend?" Jessica Stanley had been working her arse off trying to get into Delilah's good books ever since their argument a few months ago.
However, it wasn't going very well. "Don't ever call me Lilah, ever again. And why the fuck would I ever wanna go anywhere with you?"
The whole table went quiet at the brunettes words, all prior conversation stopping as the shocked face of Isabella Swan stared at Delilah. "Delilah! Why would you talk to her like that? She's my friend."

The brunette just rolled her eyes as she stabbed the salad in front of her with her plastic fork, "Boo who, poor Jessica, how will she ever recover?"
Now, Isabella had been kept in the dark with Delilah's small condition that she had going on. Which was Delilah's choice as she wanted to look out for her best friend, but now, the girl didn't really care anymore.
"I don't know what's wrong with you lately, but you really seem to have a stick up your ass."
Delilah didn't lift her head up from the table in front of her, however she did lift her eyes to glare at the girl in front of her. "Because you'd know wouldn't you? You haven't spoke in months, you've treated everyone like they don't exist, you're father has been worried sick about you. And all because lover boy left? I might have a stick up my ass, but at least I aren't pathetic like you."
The whole table could hardly believe what they were hearing, it was no secret that Delilah George absolutely adored Isabella Swan, and now here she was. Absolutely ripping into her.
"Don't talk to me like that. I'm your best friend and-"
"-So? Is that supposed to make me apologise? Because I won't."
Tears started to fill Bella's eyes, she was never the most confident and argumentative person, and faced with her best friend, she couldn't really handle it. "Why are you being like this?"
It seemed that Delilah George couldn't really handle it either.
The girl stood up, slamming her palms down on the table as salad flew up in the air, "Why am I acting like this?" Her loud voice attracted the attention of all of the hall, "Why am I acting like this?" She repeated.
"Delilah." Bella's eyes moved around the canteen, the girl very aware of how many eyes were on her.
"I'm acting like this because of you! Poor fucking Bella, her boyfriend left her and now she's broken hearted and depressed. Poor fucking Bella, let's all give her our sympathy and send her chocolate. Poor fucking Bella, she hasn't spoken to anyone in months, but the second she decides she's not depressed anymore we all have to fall at your feet and do what you want. Fuck that!"
Maya George had just been a few minutes late to lunch on the one day she needed to be there to prevent her sisters explosion. But now she's arrived, she was going to try to stop it. Although it was kind of hard to stop Delilah once she got into the rhythm.
"Come on, Lilah. Now isn't the time." Maya rushed over, grabbing into her sisters shoulder and trying to pull her back.
"No no, if now isn't the time, when is?" The girl pulled her shoulder out of her sisters arm and intensified her glare on Bella.
"Delilah, what's made this all come on? I thought we were friends." Bella's voice was weak, she could hardly believe she could still manage to speak.
"Key word, Bella, were. We aren't anymore." Then a thought popped into the brunettes head that caused her to start laughing, "You know, my life was so perfect until you got here. I could not have wished for a more perfect life. I was happy, and healthy and pretty. I was everything these people wanted to be....then you showed up. And now I'm depressed, and getting uglier by the day and....." Delilah paused before finishing her sentence, "...fucking dying."
There it was. The first time Delilah had been able to admit out loud that she was dying. She had finally managed to move from to
.
And all of that anger was directed at Isabella Swan and Edward Cullen.
