《the human (r.h)》eighteen;lie to me

"Hey Bell, how you feeling this morning?"
Delilah had made a beeline for Bella as soon as she walked into school that morning, she hadn't spoken to anyone since Rosalie had dropped her off at home the previous night, and if truth be told, Delilah was feeling pretty anxious.
"I'm fine." The words were a lie, it didn't take a scientist to figure that one out, but Delilah didn't push her. She didn't want to make things worse than they already were. "Have you heard from Rosalie?"
Delilah turned her head to look at her friend as they walked along the corridors, a small smile on her face. "Not since she dropped me off last night." The girl then grabbed onto Bella's arm, her smile growing even more. "It was such a nice night, it was raining and we played songs from her car and just danced and sang in the rain. It was amazing Bell. I just....I love her, you know?"
Bella tried to smile, she wanted to be happy for her best friend. But it was hard after the night she'd had, "That's great Lilah, it really is."
As soon as Delilah realised what she'd said she turned to the brunette, a sad smile on her face, "I'm sorry Bell, how are you feeling? How's your arm?"
Bella looked at her arm when Delilah mentioned it, a small smile on her face too, "I'm okay, my arms okay too, Carlisle stitched me up pretty well."
Delilah winked, just trying to lift Bella's mood a little bit, "I bet he did."
The two girls didn't speak again, instead they wordlessly made their way to their next classes, which they happened to have without each other.
Delilah didn't see Isabella again until later that day at lunch, where it was significantly clear her mood had dropped even more.
Immediately she wrapped an arm around her friend and pulled her into her side, none of their other friends paid any attention to what the pair were doing, too engrossed in their own conversations.
"Hey Belly." Delilah whispered into the brown messy hair, pressing a kiss against her head as she did so.
"They aren't here." Somehow Delilah managed to pick up her friends weak voice. "They didn't come."
For some reason, Delilah hadn't paid much attention to the Cullen's not being at school today. Maybe it was because she was in her own bubble of happiness after her and Rosalie's time last night. But she'd just put their disappearance down to the weather, although now that she thought about it, it wasn't even sunny outside.
"Oh baby, I'm sure it's nothing. Don't get yourself upset about it." Even though the words were said to comfort Bella, Delilah couldn't help but feel she was comforting herself too. It made no sense why they weren't in today. "I'm sure there's an explanation."

"What if something bad has happened Lilah?"
The brunette pondered on Bella's words for a few seconds, before fixing a smile on her face. "Nothing bad will have happened, I'm sure Edward will see you later and everything will be fine."
But as Delilah rested her eyes on the empty Cullen table, she couldn't help but wonder if everything really would be fine.
As the day drew on, Delilah only got even more anxious, her stomach was in knots and her happy mood from early had almost fully disappeared. There had to be a reason why Rosalie wasn't in today and she had to find out why, whatever it was, it couldn't be good.
Delilah always trusted her gut, and right now it was telling her something was off.
Which is why when she saw Rosalie stood outside of her house after school, she knew it couldn't be good.
"Hey Rose." Maya greeted as she walked past the vampire and into her house, not too bothered about standing and talking to her today.
"Hi Maya." Rosalie replied, not turning her head to look at the girl as she walked past her, instead keeping her eyes focused on her Delilah. "Can we go somewhere?"
Delilah made no move to go towards Rosalie, her eyes skeptically looking her up and down. "Why?"
"To talk."
A part of the brunette wanted to question Rosalie right there and then, but she couldn't. Instead she just let Rosalie lead her through the woods and to the place that she loved so much; her waterfall.
"I missed you today at school. Bella missed Edward too."
"Really?" Delilah almost recoiled away from the blonde at the lack of emotion in her voice, she had never heard her speak to her like that before.
"Really." She just whispered back, she wasn't sure what else to say. She was weak when it came to Rosalie.
After a few minutes of both girls just staring at the waterfall, Rosalie turned her head to look at the brunette. "I'm sorry." Her voice isn't soft or gentle, or happy like it usually is with her, instead it's so cold and dead, like she's speaking to a stranger.
Delilah doesn't turn her head, she doesn't move her eyes away from the waterfall, she doesn't even let a frown take over her face as she realises that her gut was right. "For what?" She doesn't even care how weak she sounds.
"For telling you I loved you." It was as if the whole word froze in that moment, it was as if everything the human knew was all a lie.
Even though it pained her to speak, she had to. "Why are you sorry for that?"

Rosalie watched as Delilah spoke, she knew she shouldn't feel hurt, but she did, she wanted the girl to look at her just once. "Because you shouldn't say things you don't mean."
Delilah didn't want to care, she wanted to laugh and tell Rosalie that nothing that she said really mattered to her anyway. But no matter how much she wanted to, she couldn't. For she too couldn't say things she didn't mean.
"Then why did you say it?" Her voice was no longer a whisper, she'd found it in her somewhere to speak up.
"I thought I was in love with you, but it was just a lie that I willed to be true." Now Rosalie watched as Delilah clenched her eyes together, undoubtedly to stop the tears.
"Why are you doing this?" Delilah hated how her voice was now back to a whisper. "You don't mean it."
As much as she didn't want to, Rosalie knew she had to do it. "I do mean it, Ly, I can't keep hurting myself like this anymore." Part of her words were true, she was hurting herself now.
"Don't call me that." She finally opened her blue eyes, but couldn't move them to look at Rosalie. ", don't call me that."
In this moment Rosalie hated herself, and she hated her family for what they were making her do. She needed to hurt the love of her life as much as she could.
"I could never have loved you."
When Delilah replied her voice was so soft, it was too gentle to sound real. "I don't believe you."
"How can you not believe me? I'm standing in front of you right now telling you that I don't love you, that I have never loved you. I could never have loved you. How can I make it any clearer?"
"Rosalie, I-"
The vampire didn't even let the human finish before continuing. "You mean nothing to me Delilah."
As if to cause Rosalie even more pain, Delilah looked down, a smile somehow on her lips before she spoke. "I'm sorry Rosalie. I should never have opened up to you the way I did."
"I'm sorry too Delilah." The blonde went to walk a few steps towards the brunette, to hold her one last time. "I shouldn't have lied to you." Rosalie took a deep unneeded breath, preparing herself for what she was about to say. "Now that I'm being honest, it was always a he that I was in love with, never a she......it could never have been you."
Rosalie knew how to hurt Delilah, and she was doing a perfectly good job at it. She had targeted her biggest insecurity throughout their relationship, Delilah had always been convinced that Rosalie wanted to be with a man, but she was just with her because the vampire gods had put them together.
Rosalie's words had made the outspoken loud girl, speechless.
As soon as Delilah saw the girl move even an inch, she stumbled backwards, her face filled with hatred. "Get away from me, Rosalie. Get away from me!" Her voice was so loud, but so broken at the same time.
"I just want to hold you."
Now Delilah finally looked at her, as best she could through her tear filled eyes. "Don't touch me." Even though the venom was clear in her voice and Delilah had told her no, Rosalie still walked towards her. "Don't touch me! No, don't touch me." As she reached the end of her sentence, Delilah had started to sob. "I hate you, I hate you, I hate you........I hate you so much."
Finally Rosalie was able to pull the sobbing girl into her arms, pulling her close to her chest one last time. After a few minutes of sobbing, Rosalie decided to speak again. "I know you do."
Her words caused something to click inside of the human, it was like she finally realised who was hugging her, she pushed with as much strength as she could muster, she needed to get herself away from the girl she loved. "Get off of me, please get off of me Rosalie..........please."
As soon as Rosalie felt her struggle she had removed her arms and watched as the brunette fell to the soil beneath them.
After a few minutes of sobbing Delilah finally managed to speak again. "I fucking hate you so much....... you're so fucking evil."
Rosalie went to speak for one final time "Delil-"
"Leave me alone, Rosalie, please just leave." The sobs broke through her words again. "Please just leave me, please...... I never want to see you again."
So Rosalie did just that, she left the girl whose heart she broke laying on the floor of the woods, longing to hold her just one more time.
