•••••••••••
I woke up to Mason's cold fingertips running up and down my bare thighs.
I turn over, smiling up at his peaceful looking face.
"Good morning babe" He kisses my forehead.
"Good morning Mr. White" I giggle as his fingers tickle my sides.
He smiles before checking his watch. "I need to go to practice and then see Ms. Price. Elle said she's not doing great. I'll come back over tonight when I'm done" He grabs his clothes and slips them on before tossing a baseball hat on his head and going into the bathroom.
Yesterday was awful. My mom wants my forgiveness but I don't know what to do. She seems better, but I can't trust them. My father is a lost cause. He's just as bad sober, as he was drunk.
I'm reminded of the awful night terror I probably woke the whole house up with last night.
When he comes back out he sits on the bed next to me, caressing my cheek. His shirt fits like a glove, showing every muscle and feature of his that I adore. I have to stop myself from drooling over him.
"Hey, I'm sorry about last night" I shake my head, placing my head in my hands.
"You have nothing to apologize for, okay?" He shakes his head, removing my hands. "You didn't do anything. I'm glad I was there to make sure you were alright"
"It was because I saw them. I should be okay tonight" Chills erupt over my body at the thought of it.
"It's all good. You're okay, right?" He asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine" I nod, giving him a small smile.
"Good. Don't wait up for me baby" He kisses me, deepening it.
My hands travel up his shirt, wanting to feel his skin on mine. He pulls away, kissing my temple. "Later, okay?" He smiles, grabbing his keys.
I fall back on his bed, feeling overwhelmed and tired.
A knock sounds at the door and Tara pokes her head in. "Hey, sweetie. Can I get you some coffee or tea?"
"Oh, no thank you, Tara. I have to go to work. Thank you so much" I smile at her.
"Okay, honey. Have a good day" She closes the door and her footsteps recede.
I gather my stuff and make my way home to get changed for work. It's my late day, so I have to close.
When I walk into work, I am met with a smiling Cody. "No way. Are you working with me today?" I smile.
"Yes, I am. The dream team is back in action" He smiles, high-fiving me.
"Let's kill this thing" I laugh, walking over to the register.
There are five minutes left until I can officially close. I clean up the area so that I can get home quickly.
The door opens and a familiar face walks in. I can't seem to remember where I've seen her through.
"Hi, how may I help you?" I ask. Her eyes linger on mine a little longer than I find comfortable before they rack my body.

"Um, excuse me?" I clear my throat.
"I'm sorry. Are you from around here?" She asks. I nod, dialing Mason's phone number in case I need it.
"I used to live here. I just moved back for college. Do you know where I can find Leah Williams?" She asks.
Finally a lightbulb clicks and tears spring to my eyes.
I could recognize those bright blue eyes anywhere. Her black hair is shiny and long, curled into beach waves. Her makeup perfectly complimented her face shape. Her porcelain complexion radiates happiness.
"Wait, Macy Weston?" My hands shake and she smiles, nodding.
"Oh my gosh. It's me. I'm Leah" I smile, tears pooling in her eyes.
I run out from behind the counter and embrace her in a hug, not being able to contain my excitement.
"How was Canada? My gosh. You're absolutely stunning" I breathe.
"It was incredible. You have to come one day. My parents miss you" She smiles.
"I miss them too. Gosh, it feels like just yesterday I would run to your house to escape my own" I laugh, the memories of my past and yesterday rushing in.
"How is everything with your parents?" She asks, worry filling her face.
"Boy do I have a story to tell you" I laugh, shaking my head.
"You seem happy, Le" She smiles.
"I am. I really am. Let me close up and we can chat. Where are you staying?" I clean up everything while talking to her.
"Just around the corner. My cousins just moved back so I'm staying with them until I can move into my dorm" She smiles.
"So, any boyfriends or girlfriends?" She asks, leaning on the counter.
I smile, nodding. "Yeah, actually. You might remember him" I laugh, sliding my phone over to her.
"No way. Mason White? How did that happen?" She laughs.
Back when we were all kids, Mason would always get jealous of Macy and me playing together. He would always try and sabotage whatever we were doing. I always thought it was because he had a crush on Macy.
"It's all in the story hun" I laugh.
I finish closing before getting us a cup of coffee and we sit down at the tables. I send Mason a quick text to let him know I'll be home a little later than usual.
I finally dug into the story, telling the girl who was once my out. It feels just like old times.
She stares at me, tears flowing from her eyes.
"Please, no sappy shįt. I'm thriving right now" I laugh.
"I don't know how you did it" She shakes her head, wiping her eyes.
"I don't know either. After I had the Whites help it got easier, believe it or not. It sounds stupid but the emotional support kept me from ending it all" I laugh.
"God, I'm so happy to have found you again. I hope we can become close again like we once were" She smiles.
"Macy, we never fell through. I just told you my updated life story. The only reason you didn't know sooner is because I didn't have a phone when you left" I smile.

She laughs, nodding. "Now it's my turn"
Macy's life is picture-perfect. Her parents are doctors, she travels the world for the summer and her family is actually happy. It's everything a kid could dream of. Luckily, the money didn't get to her head, and she's still the same girl I knew and loved.
"I have a boyfriend, his name is Carter. He's going to school in Canada so we're trying long distance. I think it'll work. We have been together for three years now" She smiles.
"Wow, that's great. I'm so happy for you" I smile.
"But, um. There's something I have to tell you" She looks down.
"What is it? Come on, it's me" I smile.
"I'm bi-sexual" Her eyes finally meet mine, and she visually relaxes.
I smile before getting up to hug her.
"I'm so happy for you. Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me" She smiles, nodding.
"That's such a relief" She laughs.
"I'm sorry to cut this short, but I need to get home to Mason. I haven't seen him much this week with him having practice every day. Do you need a ride?" I ask.
"No, I have the car. Can I text you tomorrow to do something?" She asks.
"Of course. Here's my number. I'll talk to you tomorrow" I hug her before locking the doors and walking to my car.
I dial Mason's number, pulling out of my spot.
"Hey babe, how was work?" He answers.
"Work sucked. After didn't. I have a story to tell you. Are you home?" I run my hand through my hair.
"I can't wait to hear it. Unfortunately, I'm not. I'll be home later. Just go to my place and I'll be home later. I'm catching a ride with Elle" He sighs into the phone.
"How is she?" I ask, stopping at the red light.
"Not great. I don't know what's going to happen" His voice cracks. "I'm sorry"
"She's strong Mas" I frowned, pulling into his driveway.
"I know she is. I gotta go. I'll see you later. Don't wait up, okay? Love you" He ends the call.
I sigh, heading into his room.
I twirl a pencil around my finger while I wait for the water to heat up.
I text Ellie to ask if I can borrow some clothes, getting a reply immediately.
Once I grab some clothes I take a quick shower before sitting on Mason's floor with Harry Potter.
A few hours pass and I find myself struggling to keep my eyes open. I get into Mason's bed, under the covers. I don't plan on going to sleep before he gets home but I might not be able to help it.
A few minutes later the front door opens and I smile knowing it's Mason. Within a few seconds, his bedroom door opens and a tired Mason walks through.
"What are you doing up?" He asks, hugging me.
"I wanted to wait for you" I smile, playing with the hem of his shirt.
"I should probably shower" He sighs, pulling away.
"Why? Didn't you shower after practice?" I lay back down.
"Yeah, why?" He looks through his drawers for clothes.
"Because then you don't need one. Now come here" I open my arms, smiling.
He laughs as he makes his way over to the bed.
He lays on his back, looking over to me.
His hair product is letting out, causing his hair to droop down further than normal. His eyes look tired, with a hint of lust. The smell of his cologne whisks me away to a place of love and no worries.
I smile before placing my lips on his. He responds immediately, grabbing my face with his cold hands.
I tug at his shirt, telling him to take it off. We both need this.
When he pulls away his eyes are large with excitement and love. He peels his shirt off quickly before taking off my tank top.
He hovers over me, leaving random kisses all over my body. "I love you so much" He whispers.
"I love you more" I whisper, pulling him down to kiss me.
Mason decided to shower before we went to bed. I still need to tell him about Macy's return, but I'm not sure when.
"Guess who's back" He walks into the room, smiling.
"What's on your mind, darling?" He asks, tossing me a shirt.
"I still have that story to tell you" I smile.
"Spill the tea, sis" He snaps his fingers, causing me to laugh.
"You did not just say that" I stare at him shocked.
"Oh, but I did" He smiles, laying down next to me.
He pulls me to lay on his chest. I quickly turn around so I'm looking up at him.
"So what happened today?" He brushes through my hair, smiling down at me.
"Do you remember Macy?" I draw circles on his bicep.
"Of course I do. She used to always steal you from me when we were younger. I had the biggest crush on you back then. It would get me so mad" He laughs, his eyes twinkle at the memory.
"Well, she's back"

The Ruined Monks of Rothfield Monastery
Erin is the youngest member of the dark monks; a supernatural brotherhood whose ultimate mission is to improve the dire circumstances of poor, war-torn villages using powers unique to each member. Or so he was led to believe. Erin, like his brothers, does not age, and that is, unfortunately, the only trait he shares with them. He cannot charm or compel like Woodrow, he cannot cast illusions like Knox, he was not swift like Swithin, not powerful like Blake. He was barely an assistant to his dear brother Wilbur, with his herbology and alchemy. He was told to lie low and make himself scarce. That is what he did. The dark monks temporarily reside in abandoned monasteries scattered around the country, feeding the poor and healing the sick, nurturing the monastic lands until it was fertile enough to raise crops and rear animals. As the years passed, they would leave these reformed, repopulated, self-sustaining monasteries and venture froth to help the next settlement. Yet, after years of toiling and quiet servitude, Erin notices that people and the country itself are declining. The villagers look gaunt, the once-lush soil now barren and cracked. He begins to feel disheartened, thinking that their mission is proving futile. Still, their leader Blake is steadfast and charges onward, and lately has his eyes set on a certain monastery in a thick, thorned forest that seems to diminish, even nullify their powers. A thick forest that Erin somehow has a connection to. A thorned glade where an ethereal voice calls his name with one simple request along with a promise:Heal the land, child. Heal the land and I promise to give you sanctuary so long as you stay. I promise to nurture you as you nurture me. As Erin cultivates the land, the land, in turn, gifts all its caretakers with new, enhanced skillsets on top of their unique powers -- skills of protection, healing, and magic. Magic. Erin had long wished to see the world fill with it again. The people, regardless of common or noble blood, still believe that magic will enter this world again. Magic to bless the king like it did the Saints. Magic to dispel the miasma befouling the world. Magic to bring back the fae folk and their many forms. It is up to Erin to forge the many paths leading to a bright future; to build a prosperous paradise that welcomes all races and bloodlines, by mastering the rewards gained through agriculture, horticulture, and animal husbandry, smithing, crafting, and fishing. Erin may also find a lifelong friendship and romance with his neighbor, Claude, if he decides to pursue him, and may even join him in the military campaign outside the monastery. The darkness still lurks outside, after all, and the mastery of his skills, along with a few good friends, may finally be enough to turn the tide in their favor. Most of all, Erin wants to keep the vow he set for himself: to protect everyone and everything he loves until his dying breath.
