《He Saved Me》Chapter seventy

Today was our last day in Italy. We went back to the island and out to get gelato. Tomorrow, we're boarding the jet around noon, since Jim has a business meeting he has to take care of.

"So, did you love it?" Mason snuggles against me, interrupting my thoughts. "I can't stress how much I loved it Mas. Thank you, really" I smile, kissing the top of his head.

"I'm so happy to hear that" He sighs, relieved. His cold hand rests against my bare stomach, causing me to flinch. "Sorry" He chuckles.

"Get some sleep. I want to do something before we leave tomorrow" Mason kisses my jaw. "Okay, goodnight Mas" I close my eyes and drift off.

I wake up in an empty bed, hearing shushed rustling around me.

"Good morning sunshine" Mason sings, quietly, throwing some of his clothes into his luggage. I smile.

"Good morning" I stretch, not noticing his lack of clothing until now.

"Put some clothes on" I laugh, getting up and walking into the bathroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

"You love it" He smiles, kissing my shoulder and placing the toiletries that I just finished using into the bag.

"You're almost all packed?" I look at him, curious.

"Yep, I wanted to do something so I got up a little earlier and packed everything up. I folded your stuff and put it in your bag, left clothes and your makeup out and the toiletries. I also took out my clothes. I'm just going to make the bed while you get dressed and we should be all set. You can take a look around and check that I didn't miss anything" He flashes me a confident smile.

"Wow Mas, I'm impressed. Good job" I nod, smiling.

He hands me the outfit and I close the door, thanking him and quickly change.

I nod, appreciating the comfort but style of it. Also thankful that its covering everything. It's a grey v-neck thats tied in the front and some loose pink shorts.

"Where are we going?" I step out of the bathroom, seeing Mason clothed and ready.

"Just into town. I want to say goodbye to Ms. Russo before we leave" He places a white baseball hat on his head, his sunglasses resting on the bridge of his nose. His outfit consists of some khaki shorts and a blue button-down shirt. His white basketball sneakers are pulled up over his white high socks. I struggle to hold back a laugh as images of frat boys shuffle through my mind.

"What?" He questions, confused.

"No, nothing" I clear my throat, grabbing my phone and sunglasses.

"What is it? Tell me" He urges, arms crossed.

"No, you just look like a frat boy" I chuckle. "You look good though, you do. I promise" I finish, not wanting him to think he looks bad.

"I do? Shįt" He quickly peels the shirt off and throws a t-shirt on, making it look less fratboy-ish.

"Better?" he asks, I nod, a smile etched onto my face.

"Okay, thanks" He stretches.

"Lets go" He winks, grabbing my hand and we walk downstairs, sneaking out of the door.

He straddles the bike, handing me a helmet and patting the spot behind him.

I take this hat off his head and fold it in my hands, letting him place the helmet on his head.

I sit behind him, placing the helmet on my head and the motorcycle roars to life.

The gate opens up and we go speeding off, the wind blowing through my hair.

We pull up to a spot right outside Mrs. Russo's store. I peel the helmet away from my face and smile over at Mason. He tucks his keys into his pocket and takes the helmet from my hands.

We walk into the store, a huge smile gracing her face.

"You're back" Her Italian accent rich on her tongue.

"We are" Mason smiles, brightly.

"Did you two come for jobs? You're hired" She jokes, hugging us.

"Unfortunately not. We're leaving today around noon" I frown, looping my arm through Masons.

"Oh dear, that's so soon. I wish you two were staying for longer. I'll miss seeing your faces on my television every day. I saw that stunt the other day. Way to get them talking" She grins, arms crossed.

"I know, right? I was so embarrassed" I laugh, shaking my head.

"They were making all of these theories, now its pretty obvious. They wanted something to talk about, they got it" He shrugs, obviously satisfied.

She nods, a smile on her face. "Well, I'm more than happy to see you happy Mason. And you, my dear Leah. I haven't known you long, but I have long enough to know you're finally happy as well. I'm so happy for you two. Don't give up on each other. The both of you have something special. Now, leave those helmets and run off. I'll see you before you leave" She kisses our cheeks, ushering us out.

How in the hęll did she do that? "She's like that, it's a little weird. Don't worry, I didn't tell her anything" Mason clarifies, as we step out of the door.

"Where are we going?" I ask, leaning into him.

"I'm taking you to brunch" He kisses my temple as we walk into a cute little café like restaurant.

Mason asks if we can sit inside and soon we are seated. The spot is decorated beautifully. There are flowers on each table and the ceiling is laced with flowers and vines. The small string of lightbulbs illuminate the room. It looks like something out of a fairytale movie.

"What are you getting?" Mason asks, scanning over the menu, placing it down.

"I'm thinking about the Nutella crepes, honestly" I laugh.

"Ellie gets those all the time, she says they're good. I'll probably get the cinnamon french toast" Mason smiles.

"Well, then its settled, I'll get the crepes" I nod, placing the menu down.

The waitress comes over and we order a coffee, water and our food. We make quiet conversation, careful not to disturb anyone.

"I can't believe we are leaving today" I frown, not wanting this trip to be over.

"We'll be back soon, I promise" He strokes my hand.

The food is placed down and we start eating.

Mason picks up the orange piece on his plate and pops it in his mouth, showing me an orange peel smile.

"You're actually five" I laugh as he makes faces, chuckling to himself.

"It's not so bad" He laughs, eating the orange and placing the peel back on his plate.

I shake my head and take a bite of a strawberry.

We finish our food, pay and head back out, walking into a cute little store.

We walk around, trying to waste time. I throw a hat on my head and make a weird pose, laughing as Mason snaps a quick picture of me.

He throws on a pair of princess glasses and a plaid hat, kissing my cheek. I take a picture and place the articles down.

We walk around and Mason picks something up, quickly.

"Can you go wait outside for me babe?" He kisses me.

"Yeah, sure" I nod, walking outside. Soon I am crowded with photographers, not being able to see the road. "Excuse me" I try to push through, blocking my face.

"Le" Mason yells, I hear a curse and soon he is pushing through photographers, reaching for my hand. I quickly grab it and hold on as he pushes through them, trying to get out from the middle.

"Back up, please" Mason shouts, agitated. I leave a kiss on his hand, hoping to calm him down. A small smile appears on his face and he keeps his head down, pushing through the crowd.

Once we get out we cut behind a couple buildings, trying to lose them.

"I'm so sorry" Mason stutters, guilt plastered on his face.

"What? Mason, theres nothing to be sorry for. Don't be ridiculous" I smile, shaking my head.

"No, that was my fault. I shouldn't of told you to go outside without me. What was I thinking?" He rambles.

I shake my head, grabbing his face and smashing my lips onto his. The kiss lasts longer than I had expected, but you don't see me complaining.

"It's okay. No ones hurt and we're fine, okay. Now drop it, I'm not mad or upset with you and nor would I with something like that. It is out of your hands. Now, let's get back to the house so that we don't miss the flight. Or maybe, we should miss it" I smile, a small smile appearing on his face.

"Okay, I'm sorry" He kisses my cheek. "I have a feeling you'll like our next vacation even better" He winks at me. I furrow my eyebrows, "Next vacation?"

"Yeah, we're going somewhere in August. Just the two of us" He smirks and my heart flutters.

A vacation with just us?

"Oh. Okay" I smile as we walk into Mrs. Russo's shop.

"You're leaving?" She frowns.

"Unfortunately, we are" Mason nods, a sad smile on his face.

"Aw" She gushes and comes out from behind the counter. She embraces Mason and hugs him, rocking back and forth. She pulls away after leaving a loving kiss on the top of his head.

"Leah, it was great to meet you. Come back soon hunny" She hugs me too, kissing my cheek.

"Of course I will. Thank you for everything" I smile, surprised at the gesture.

We throw our helmets on and get on Masons bike, speeding off before anyone catches sight of us.

The gate opens up and Masons beautiful house is revealed.

When we get into the house, everyone is standing in the kitchen, waiting for us.

"Sorry guys, we got a little held up" I pass Mason my helmet and he places it in the closet, hanging the keys up.

"You guys are fine. We're leaving in a half hour" Tara smiles, dismissing our apology.

We join them, sitting on the bar stools and talk for a while. A tired feeling overcomes me like a wave and I feel drained.

"Le, you okay?" Mason asks, concerned.

"Yeah, just tired" I yawn.

"Okay, well let's go. I'll grab our stuff and meet you outside" Mason kisses my cheek and I follow Ellie and Tara outside while the guys grab the bags.

An Uber is waiting for us and we get in, I wait for Mason and let him sit before I sit on his lap. Once again, there isn't enough seats.

The drive goes by past and soon we are through customs, walking to the gate.

"Are you sure you're okay?" Mason asks.

"Yeah, Mas. I'm good, seriously" I really am. I don't feel like anything is wrong, just drained almost.

"Okay, babe. I love you" He whispers, taking my bag from me as we walk onto the plane.

The plane takes off with no problem and I feel my eyes struggling to stay open.

"Here's to a successful, and fun filled trip" Ellie cheers, holding up a glass.

I grab my glass of water and clink it together with everyones, taking a sip.

"Can I rest my head on your shoulder? I'm going to try and take a nap" I yawn, looking up at Mason.

"Yeah, of course. Let's sit over here though" Mason stands up, grabbing my hand and leading me to a couch-like chair.

He sits down and pats his lap, instructing me to lay down and use it as a pillow.

I do as suggested and soon, within seconds of my eyes closing and Masons gentle hands untangling my hair, I'm out cold.

Soon I am shaken awake by Mason. "Le, we're landing now. We need to get to the seats" He kisses my forehead.

I nod, standing up and walking to the chair.

"How are you feeling?" Mason buckles my seatbelt and switches to his.

"Good. That nap was surprisingly refreshing" I smile, feeling energized.

"I'm happy to hear that" He smiles back as we land.

It's still early in Los Angeles, a result of the time difference.

"What are we going to do?" I ask, stepping down from the plane.

"Well, first thing we're doing is going over your place. I can imagine how bad you want to see Bella" He smirks.

"Well that's a given" I laugh as we walk through the airport. "What did you do while I was sleeping?"

"Just talked to my sides" He looks straight ahead with a straight face.

"What?" I pull at his shirt, confused.

"It's a joke" He smiles down at me. "I was coming up with plays" He opens his phone to show me his notes.

"Oh okay, I thought so but you kept a straight face" I laugh, feel relieved.

"That's because I wasn't looking at you. If I had, I would of cracked" He laughs.

When we get to my place, I open to door to be greeted by a very excited Cody.

"You're back" He engulfs the both of us in a hug, causing Mason to let out a chuckle.

"We are. Where's my puppy" I pull away as little feet come running towards me.

"Hi Belles" I pick her up, letting her lick my face, her tail wagging. "I missed you, angel" I laugh, turning my head away. She practically jumps out of my arms at the sight of Mason. I smile, placing her down so she can run over to him.

"Hey baby" He crouches down, petting her. Bella has warmed up really nice to Mason. He treats her amazing too. It's a great feeling.

"So, how was it?" Cody gushes.

"It was absolutely amazing. I'll tell you everything tonight. We'll have a self care night. Invite Andrew" I smile.

"I'll see you tomorrow, okay Le? I love you" Mason kisses my cheek.

"Okay, bye Mas. Thank you again, really. I love you" I smile.
