《He Saved Me》Chapter sixty seven

I woke up, legs tangled and chest feeling heavy.

I look down to see Masons head resting against my chest. He looks so peaceful, I don't want to wake him.

"Good morning my love" He smiles, his eyes still closed.

"I'm sorry, did I wake you?" I whisper, guilt consuming me.

"No, I've been up for around a half hour already" He laughs, kissing my cheek.

"Just wanted an excuse to lay on your boobs" He winks, stretching.

I haven't even been up for five minutes and he's already thrown out an inappropriate comment.

"What are we doing today?" I yawn, getting out of bed and straightening my clothes out.

"Not sure if anything is planned, honestly" He ruffles his hair, joining me to brush my teeth.

I quickly brush them, also washing my face in the process, moving so Mason can do the same.

"Oh, okay. Maybe if nothing is planned we can go explore the city a little? I know you probably know it front and back but I'm obviously clueless and very intrigued" I laugh, picking out some clothes to wear for the day.

I decide on a pair of white jean shorts and a blue floral top that ties in the front. I pair it with a black belt and side bag along with some white converse and round sunglasses.

"Yeah, that sounds like fun. I love the city, it's so nice and vintage looking" Mason fixes his hair in the mirror. I might as well get changed, he takes forever in the bathroom when he's getting ready.

"Damn Le, are you purposely changing right in my line of view?" He raises his eyebrows at me.

"Well maybe if you didn't take ten years in the bathroom I wouldn't have to" I roll my eyes, shimmying my shorts up my legs and sliding the belt through the loops.

"Well hurry up, you're really turning me on here babe" He groans, signaling me to finish.

I roll my eyes and turn around, dropping my bra to the floor and putting my top on, quickly tying it and folding my clothes up, placing them on the dresser.

"Woah, hold up. You're wearing a bra with this, right?" He adjusts the top.

"No, that ruins the whole look" I laugh, making the bed.

"Babe, stop. Put a bra on" He crosses his arms.

I might as well mess with him. I like this outfit and there's no way in hęll I'm ruining it with a stupid bra.

"Why? It makes it easier for later" I give him an innocent look. He looks at me cautiously, taking in a short breath.

"You know, for when I shower and change" I continue making the bed, holding back my laughs. "And other things" I trail out.

"I can't stand you" He picks me up by my waist and throws me onto the bed, his fingers immediately tickling my stomach.

"Mason, stop it" I laugh, struggling to get away from him.

He continues to the point where I can't breathe, I'm laughing so hard.

"Breathe Le, breathe" He laughs, still hovering over me.

I take the opportunity to tickle him, catching him off guard. He recovers quickly and pins my arms back, a smirk on his face.

"You gotta try harder than that" He kisses me on my collarbone and gets up, changing.

He slips into a salmon button down shirt and a black pair of khaki shorts. I watch as his back tenses, revealing all his hidden muscles.

Dämn am I lucky.

He slides on his white basketball sneakers, fixes his out of place hairs and throws a pair of sunglasses on.

"Ready?" He motions towards the door.

I nod, following him out and to the kitchen.

"What were you two love birds doing? Oh, I love your top. That's such a cute outfit" Ellie smiles, sticking some fruit in her mouth.

"Thanks" I give her a smile and say good morning to everyone.

"We're going to head into town for the day" Mason announces and then we go outside.

"So, we have two choices" Mason scratches his neck.

"What are those?" I laugh.

"We can take my bike or walk" He fumbles with his hands.

"Mas, what's wrong?" I smile, grabbing his hand.

"Well, I know you don't like cars since your accident so I feel like you would hate the bike. But the walk is pretty long so I'm kind of stuck. Unless you want to take the bus" He rambles.

"We can take your bike" I give him a small, nervous smile.

"We don't have to Le" He stares at me.

"No, come on. Put your helmet on and lets go" I smile, pushing his chest.

He shakes his head, placing a helmet on my head and one on his, stepping on the bike. "Hold tight please" He turns to me, starting the bike.

I take a few deep breaths as we start moving. The wind blows through my hair, immediately comforting me. Suddenly, I have no fears.

Within a couple minutes we pull into town, Mason finds a spot and we get off. I hold the helmet in my hands, a huge smile on my face.

"That was amazing" I speak, trying to clear up the confusion present on Masons face.

"You liked it?" He smiles, taking my helmet and walking towards a building.

"Liked it? I loved it" I glow, not knowing why I liked it so much.

"Good, it's a different kind of feeling" He grins, opening the door for me.

"Mason" The lady behind the counter smiles.

"Hey, Mrs. Russo" He hugs her, turning to me.

"This is Leah, my girlfriend. Leah, this is Mrs. Russo, she gave me my first job here" He introduces us.

"Hi, it's so nice to meet you. You're beautiful, wow" She smiles, hugging me, tight.

"Thank you, it's nice to meet you too" I smile.

"You want to leave these here while you walk around?" She looks at the helmets in Masons hands.

"That would be great, actually. Thank you" Mason hands them to her.

"Well, if you are spending the summer here and want a summer job, you're more than welcome. The both of you" She smiles.

"Thank you, I might take you up on that offer next year. We're only staying for two weeks this year" He wraps his arm around my waist.

"Lovely. I'll see you guys again" She gives us a smile and we walk out.

"She's so sweet" I look up at Mason, a smile on my face.

"She is" He nods, looking ahead as we cross the street.

We take some pictures, a permanent smile on my face.

Italy is absolutely breathtaking and everything I had ever dreamed of. The aura of the people here is so different from anything back home. The smell of the fresh pizza and pasta is mouth watering. The water is a figment of my imagination. The roads and buildings look like paintings or something out of a movie.

"What's going through your head?" Mason bumps my shoulder.

"Just how beautiful it is here" I smile at him.

"It is pretty, but you're the beautiful one" He gives me a cheesy smile. The line was cringey, but cute. Okay, maybe a little more cringey than cute.

"Oh my gosh" I laugh.

"That was bad, wasn't it" He throws his arm around my shoulder, chuckling.

"A little" I shake my head.

"Can we get some coffee? My treat" I point at a little café ahead.

"Of course" He smiles and we walk to the café.

I get my usual, an iced coffee and Mason gets an iced coffee as well.

We walk the streets, an occasional head nod being sent towards Mason.

"What's that all about?" I ask Mason, starting to get a little weirded out.

"My family and I are very well known here" He laughs, grabbing my hand and placing a light kiss on it.

"Like how well known?" I quirk an eyebrow.

"Well known enough for there to be pictures of us in the paper tomorrow" He scratches his neck, nervously.

"The paper? Mason, what is your fathers company?"

"Assicurazioni Generali" He chuckles, turning his head towards me.

"Are you kidding me? Mason, that's a huge company" I stare at him.

"I know, I know it is" He sighs.

"So how does it feel? Like constantly having your photo taken and being so well known and respected"

"It sucks at times. But it's also pretty cool. I mean, one day the business will be mine. If I make it into the NFL then when I retire from there. But I wish I had some privacy" He kisses my cheek.

"How did I not realize? I feel like an idiot. I think you have a real good shot at going pro Mas. You bring a lot to the table" I laugh, shaking my head.

"Don't, I'm glad you didn't. Makes me feel good knowing my true self and not family inheritance made you fall in love with me" He grins, swinging our hands.

"Yeah? Well good, because I go for personality. The good looks and money is just a bonus" I smile, winking at him.

"We'll be living a good life with our kids and pets, I'm sure of it" My heart flutters.

Every time.

"And why's that?" I look over at him.

"Well, because I'll make sure of it. I'll make sure that we live in a beautiful house. If I go pro then I'll be traveling a lot but we'll make it work, I'm sure of it. If I don't go pro, then I'll have my father's business to keep me out of a depression. You'll be a vet, making all the big bucks and saving a bunch of animals lives. We'll have a couple kids and pets. We'll have a good nanny that we can trust. We'll be living the dream life" He smirks. "And, we'll be living alone. You know what that means" He winks, causing my face to heat up.

"We're literally in public, my God" I cover my face, humiliated.

"Chill babe, they can't hear anything" He whispers, chuckling.

"So? We're out. Walking the streets, with people all around us taking your picture and watching you" I shake my head.

"I seem to think they're more interested in you than they are me" He shrugs.

I peel my gaze away from him and turn it to the people surrounding me. They're staring at me and taking pictures.

I immediately turn insecure and try and get as close to Mason as possible.

"Easy hun. How about we get some lunch" He laughs, guiding me into a restaurant.

"That sounds amazing" I nod, thanking him.

"Mr. White" The lady nods, when we walk in. "Follow me".

We follow her to the table, sitting down and thanking her.

"What are you getting?" I ask, looking through the menu.

"Probably shrimp over pasta" He glances up at me.

"Okay, I was thinking about getting some pizza. I have to have real Italian pizza at least once" I smile.

"Hello, I'm your waitress, Rihanna. Can I get you anything to drink Sir?" The waitress asks Mason. He orders a coke and then she turns to me. "And what about you, Ma'am" I order a water and thank her.

"Do I really look that old to be referred to as Ma'am?" I laugh.

"No, of course not" Mason laughs. "You've only just turned 18"

"That's funny, because you do" I stick my tongue out at him, smiling.

"Oh sweetheart, you wish. I look like I was built by the Greek Gods" He puffs his chest out confidently.

"Okay, fair enough" I nod.

"You were supposed to say something about yourself so that I could hype you up, not the other way around" He whines.

"Sorry Mas, there's nothing I could possibly say. I'm average, and that's pushing it. You're, well. You're far above average" I laugh.

"Leahh, stop. That's so wrong and you know it" He frowns.

"No it's not" I mumble, thanking the waitress as she places our drinks down and takes our orders.

Lunch goes on as predicted, the pizza is absolutely amazing. Mason pays and we head out, saying our thank yous to the staff.

"Come on, I need to show you my favorite place here" Mason grins, his eyes twinkling.

Uh Oh.

I'm so sorry this took so long and that it's up so late! I've been super busy and I had a party tonight, but it's up and it's a filler, unfortunately. I'm adding to the vote goal because this was a little faster than I expected and I don't want to keep you guys waiting like this again. I hope you're enjoying the book. Thank you for everything. Don't forget to vote, comment and share.
