《He Saved Me》Chapter twenty eight

I got discharged earlier today. Right now I am at the White's. I agreed to stay with them, but the problem is getting some stuff from my house.
"I can get your stuff Leah" Jim says and I shake my head.
"No, no its okay. I got it" I say smiling.
I'm petrified to walk into that house. Not that I don't think Mason will protect me but I don't want him getting hurt.
"I'll be fine Le" Mason says grabbing my hand.
The drive to my house was short, like usual.
"Mason, I think I should just stay at my house. It will work better" I say, panicking.
"Leah, hey. Look at me. You're fine. You're going to stay with people who love you. Please, do this for me" He says, staring me into the eyes.
"Okay, yeah" I say shaking my head.
Still a bad idea.
I slowly get out of the car, quietly.
The house door is unlocked and my mother and father are passed out on the couch.
"Come on, lets try and not wake them" Mason whispers. Once again panic flashes through my body.
They are going to murder me.
Literally.
"Ma-"
"Oh, the slüts home with her little boy toy" My mother slurs, while my father sits there, smirking.
"I-I'm staying with the Whites for a li-little" I stutter, she looks pissed.
"Mmm, no you're not" She smiles, sweetly.
"Okay, um. I'll talk to you later" I say to Mason.
He responds by moving me behind him and crossing his arms.
"I see, little baby Leah ran and cried to her little friends" My father says, now standing next to my mother.
"We don't want any problems. We just came to get some stuff and we will be out" Mason snarls, through gritted teeth.
"Aw, what? Someone can't take a little hit? I've been trying to teach her self defense" My father says, crossing his arms.
"Stay away from her" Mason says, not noticing my mother inching towards me.
She quickly reaches out and grabs my wrist, pulling me towards her and my father.
"I said, stay away from her" Mason says, anger filling his voice.
I shake my head, hinting for him to stop.
My ribs still aren't fully healed. Hit me anywhere but there. I don't care.
"Please, leave Mason out of this. It has nothing to do with him" I say causing my mom to smirk.
"Hmmm" My mother says, forming her hand into a fist.
"Ma-" I shout, my voice being muffled by my fathers gross, liquor tasting hand.
"Fück" Mason groans, his hand now over his eye.
My father releases me and I run to Mason.
"Mason, your eye" I say, moving his hand to see his closed eye, already bruising.
"I'm fine. It's okay, really" Mason says.
"Aw, how cute" My mom sneers out, kicking my side.
I gasp for air, suddenly losing my oxygen flow.
My ribs. Not again.
"Shįt. Leah" Mason says standing over me. Panic apparent on his face.
"Get her shįt and go. We don't want a slüt like that in our house" My father says, kicking me again.
Mason bends down, helping me up.
"Leah, come on. You're going to be okay" Mason says, choking back his tears.
My arm is around his neck and his arm under my arm, careful not to touch my side.

He places me on the bed, grabbing a suitcase and packing it full of clothes and makeup.
"Do you need anything else" He asks and I nod.
I sluggishly make my way over to a box, struggling to pick it up.
"Here, I got it. Let me just put this in the car. Go in the bathroom" Mason says and I nod. He leaves through the window.
"Oh Leahhhh" My mother sings, slamming the bathroom door open.
"Please" I whisper out.
"We aren't done yet" My father says, holding a belt.
My eyes widen.
Quickly the belt comes down on my thighs.
I hold in my screams, knowing what will happen if I attract attention.
After a few more strikes the window opens again and my father and mother slip behind the shower curtain.
"Leah, come on. Let's go" Mason says opening the door.
His eyes go straight to my once white jeans, now with red spots.
Masons face pales as I point to the shower.
"Come on" Mason says grabbing my hand.
"Not so fast" My father says, striking Mason on the back with the belt.
"Fücking hęll" He hisses, grabbing his back.
"Just go Mason. Take my stuff and go. I'll be okay" I whisper, not being able to talk louder.
"Leah, I cant" He says, a tear falling.
I give him a look, telling him to get his dad and he nods.
"Okay, okay fine. Please" He says and I nod, my breathing getting shorter.
Mason leaves, taking some stuff with him and my mother turns to me.
"I hope he knows not to tell anymore" My mother says, smiling.
They drag me all the way down the stairs, hitting me occasionally.
"You were gone for quite some time. 10 for each day which means, 70" My father says.
"I-I was only in the hospital for 3 days" I say and he rolls his eyes.
"Make that 80" He says, roughly hitting me on the stomach.
Soon, a knock sounds at the door.
"I swear if thats that rotten kid" My mother says, as my father continues hitting me with the belt.
"Step away from the girl and put your arms in the air" Comes from the doorway.
My father and I snap out heads to the doorway, to see my mother being handcuffed.
My father panics, grabbing ahold of my throat, cutting off the air to my punctured lungs.
"Sir, remove your hand from her throat" The police officer says.
He doesn't listen, just tightens his grip even more.
"Sir, I will ask you one more time. Let go and step away from the young lady" He says, holding the gun.
At this, my father releases his hold on me, causing me to fall to the floor.
"Leah" Mason rushes in, picking me up.
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry" He cries, cradling me close to him.
"It's okay. Mason, listen to me. It's okay, I'm okay" I say, catching my breath.
"I-I told you I wouldn't get the police involved but I had to. Please, please forgive me for everything" He says, his beautiful eyes red and face tear stained.
"I know. I forgive you, you did the right thing Mas" I say kissing his cheek.
"Bring her over here" A paramedic says to Mason.
He rushes over and explains what happened.

"It's been a struggle to breath" I whisper and the paramedic nods.
"Okay, possible punctured lung, broken ribs but thats from before and need of stitches from what I can see. Young man, go over there. They will check on you. You, come on, we are going to the hospital" The lady paramedic says, and Tara hops in the ambulance.
"Mason, just go. Stop, meet us there" Tara says pushing him away.
Please, let there be nothing seriously wrong.
We arrive to the hospital and they rush me into the ICU. Not again, I just got out.
They check my lungs, run a couple tests and give me some pain medication.
"Leah, you're back. This is from your parent huh?" The same doctor from earlier asks me.
I nod, he looks at the chart, smiling at me. "Theres nothing too bad right now. Lucky, no internal bleeding and no punctured lung. Your ribs are broken even worse though so that will take a while to heal. We will just put a couple stitches and have you stay here for a couple hours to make sure nothing happens" The doctor says, Tara lets out a huge breath.
"Thank you so much" I say and he nods, walking out.
"Is she okay?" Mason rushes into the room, stitches on his forehead.
"Mason, I'm fine. Just broken ribs and a couple gashes that need stitches. Hows your back?" I ask, kissing him.
"It's fine, I'll be fine. What do you need?" He asks.
"I need you to turn around" I say, he hesitates, scaring me.
I slowly lift up his shirt to see multiple, deep gashes. He had to have gotten at least 50 stitches. My heart drops.
"M-Mason" I say, out of breath, my vitals peaking.
"Leah, Leah, breathe. In and out. You're okay, I'm fine, just a couple stitches. Look at me, I'm okay" He says, holding my hands.
I shake my head, ignoring the pain it's bringing. I deserve it. I hurt Mason.
A couple nurses rush in, checking everything to make sure I'm okay, paging the doctor.
"What happened?" He asks, making me more anxious.
"It's an anxiety attack" Mason says, causing the doctor and nurses to calm down a little, checking to make sure theres nothing more.
"Does she get these often?" The doctor says, writing something down.
"Yeah, yeah. Too often" Mason says, worry apparent.
"I can usually calm her down but its just getting worse" He says, my chest heaving.
"Its just an attack" The nurses say and the doctor nods.
"Okay, get some medicine. Both anxiety and the sedation. We might need it. And grab the blood tubes" He says and they nod, running out.
"Leah, hey. Look at me. You are going to be okay. I promise you that" Mason says, I blink a couple time, trying to clear my eyes from the tears threatening to spill. It doesn't help. What the hęll is wrong with me?
"When we get her under control we are going to try these pills" The doctor says to Tara and she nods.
"Here, let me try" She says to Mason.
"Hold off on the sedation. I'll handle this" The doctor says, ushering the nurse out.
"Leah, sweetie. Listen, we are here for you. You are so, so strong. Listen to my voice and do what I say, okay?" She asks, I nod, signaling that I'm listening.
"Close your eyes. Breath in, 1,2,3,4,5. Hold it, 1,2,3,4. Breathe out, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8" She says multiple times, my heart rate slows down.
"Okay, Ms. Hudson, please try and slow your breathing down. We will try this medication and see if it helps. We also are going to take your blood and make sure that episode was nothing more than a panic attack" The doctor says and I nod, swallowing the pill.
The nurse comes in and quickly takes my blood.
Soon enough everyone leaves and its just Mason, Tara and I.
"Leah" Mason says and I shake my head.
"Mason, please don't" I breathe out, my eyes burning.
I rush to the bathroom as fast as I could with more broken ribs and a boot on my foot.
I get there just in time, rushing over to the sink, I turn the water on to mask my sobs.
I hurt Mason, its my fault he got all those stitches. Why his life was put in danger. They could have killed him.
I slide down the wall, sitting on the floor. I shakily open my phone going straight to my photos.
I scroll through my album of her. The little amount pictures of us and all the other pictures I could scrap up of her.
"Leah?" Mason says, the door handle rattling.
"I'm washing my face" I say drying my face and quickly splashing water on it, removing the redness.
Once I wash my face I go back outside, shakily.
"Leah, are you okay?" Mason says helping me into the bed.
I nod, not trusting my voice.
"Le, are you okay?" Ellie says running in with Jim and Brooks.
I nod again, my head now down. The tears are threatening to escape.
"Leah" Jim says, I look up at him and Tara. My bloodshot eyes staring into their eyes.
"I'm sorry" I say, my voice raspy. "I'm sorry that I put your child in danger. That he had to get stitches. That he's hurt. I'm so sorry" I say, a couple tears spilling out.
"Honey, we aren't mad at you. We are just worried. We wanted Mason there to take the blow from you if this were to happen" Jim says, sitting on the bed.
"We aren't the least bit mad Leah. You don't deserve this. I'm happy that your parents are getting in trouble for this. It went on too long" Tara says, taking my hair out of its tight ponytail and putting it into a lose bun. The tension now a little less on my head.
I lay my head back, my eyes closed. Why did I have to get Mason involved in all of this? He could have been safe.
