《He Saved Me》Chapter fifteen

Mason is standing in the door way with a Jersey in his hand and duffel bag on his shoulder.

"Thanks" I say blushing at his comment causing Ellie to wink at me.

"I, um. I'm leaving now. Coach wants us there early. But this is my old Jersey from freshman year. You can wear it if you want. You know, with Samantha and everything" Mason says and I nod, taking the jersey from him.

"Thanks Mas. Good luck at your game tonight. You'll be great" I say kissing his cheek and he walks away.

"Oh em geeee" Ellie screeches.

"You have got to stop doing that" I say rolling my eyes and sitting on her bed.

"He totally likes you" Ellie says staring at me and taking the jersey out of my hands.

"No he doesn't Elle, I said something to make Samantha think we are dating so we are going along with it I guess" I say shrugging, feeling a little upset.

"Mason never let anyone touch this jersey. Never mind wear it. This is the jersey that got him on varsity. That got his football career started. Go check his room right now" Ellie says pushing me out the door.

I peek into Masons room and immediately notice the missing jersey from the display case.

Woah.

"You have to wear it" Ellie says behind me and I nod.

It fits almost perfectly. I just tuck it into my pants a tiny bit to make it a little shorter. I changed into a pair of black booties and then I am ready to go.

I walk down the stairs and Tara looks about ready to cry.

"Jim, come here right now" Tara says as he comes running in.

"Oh my-no way. Honey, am I seeing this right?" He says staring into Tara's eyes.

"That's Masons freshman year jersey. The jersey that I was never able to touch. Leah is wearing it" Tara says nodding, her smile taking over her whole face.

"I-I can't believe it" Jim says practically jumping up and down.

"Its just to piss off a girl at school" I say laughing at them.

"Yeah okay, lets go. Also, we are meeting a bunch of family at the game" Tara says and I freeze.

I didn't know about this.

"They all want to meet you Leah" Tara winks and my heart starts racing. I have no idea why but it does.

The drive to our school is short. When we get there I start having chest pains.

"They are going to be a little late" Jim says reading his phone, causing me to get even more nervous.

"I need to go, I'll see you guys later" Ellie runs over to Christine and I see Samantha shooting daggers at me.

I look out on the field, trying to find Mason to hopefully calm down a little bit and we lock gazes.

I see him run over to his coach and he jogs his way over to me.

"Come here for a second" He says grabbing my hand and leading me towards where the bathrooms are.

"Deep breaths Le. There is nothing to be worried for. Everything is going to turn out okay in the end. My family will love you. They already do. Nothing to be scared about" He says rubbing my back, putting my nerves at ease.

"Thanks Mas, now go back. I'll be okay" I say and he nods running back onto the field.

I walk back over to Jim and Tara and they look at me worried.

"You okay sweetie?" Jim says and I nod.

"I needed to use the restroom" I smile and soon a bunch of people come up to us. My anxiety comes back but I replay Masons words and they calm me down.

"Oh my freaking God. Thats Masons jersey" This guy who looks to be around 20 says pointing at me.

"Yes, him and Leah have a special friendship. Leah, this is Tom" Jim says and I smile and he hugs me.

"Let me know when that friendship is taken a step further" He says and I blush, hiding my face in my hands.

I get introduced to everyone else and they are all so nice.

It's halftime and the game is really close. We are down by one touchdown. Mason has gotten two assists and Brooks scored one touchdown.

"Go give him a pep talk" Ellie runs up to me and I look at her, shocked.

"What?" I say looking at her wide eyed.

"I'll go with you. Please, we need it Leah" Ellie says and Tom nods.

"I'll talk to coach. He loved me when I played. Let's go" Tom says dragging me up and we go over to where the boys are drinking their water.

"No way, Thomas White. How are you kid?" Coach says and Mason looks up at me.

"Hey, you two. Off the field" Coach says and Tom stops him.

"Hey, thats Masons sister and Masons girl. She's got something important to tell him. You guys need it" Tom says and Coach nods.

"Make it fast White" He says and Mason nods and we go off to the side.

"Whats wrong? Are you hurt?" Mason says inspecting my face and turning it causing me to laugh.

"No, I'm perfectly fine. But listen to me. You guys need two more touchdowns to win the game. It's very close but you are better than them. I used to watch football with my dad all the time. I know a good team and player when I see them. You guys are giving up too easily. When you get that ball, you run as fast and hard as you can. You are faster than they are. I know you can do this. You just have to know you can. Do this for me, for Tom, for your family, for your team" I say.

"Okay, I got it" Mason says nodding.

"Now go out there and kick some ãss" I say smiling.

Mason nods and quickly kisses my cheek. "For you" He whispers and runs off to the huddle.

Ellie, Tom and I hurry off the field and make it just in time.

The game starts and Mason is playing 10x better than the first half.

"Go Mason" I scream when Mason grabs the ball. He makes a bee line to the end zone and makes it about half way until someone tackles him.

"Thats how you do it White" Coach says and I mentally pat myself on the back for that piece of advice.

It's the second down and we have the ball. The cheerleaders are doing a cheer for Mason and he passed the ball to Brooks. As Brooks is about to get tackled he passes it to Patrick who then scores a touchdown.

One more.

One minute left in the game, and Crystal Valley still needs one touchdown to win. There is about 50 yards and this is the third down. I cross my fingers and Tara grabs my hand, the nerves kicking in. I can only imagine how the boys feel. Mason passes it to Patrick and he gets tackled.

Fourth down, 15 seconds left. This is it. The whistle blows and there is a small path that I spot. It leads right to the end zone. Mason see's it too. At that moment he digs his toes into the dirt and runs faster than I've seen in my life. He dodges about 5 guys and runs right into the end zone.

"AND CRYSTAL VALLEY WINS WITH 2 SECONDS LEFT IN THE GAME" The announcer says and I jump up, ecstatic.

After Mason gets up from under the doggy pile he looks at me and hits his chest twice and points at me.

"I don't know what you said to him but it worked" Jim says patting me on the back in happiness.

They all huddle for a while and then Mason walks over.

"You did it" I screech as Mason picks me up and spins me around.

"No, you did it. I just followed your advice Williams" He smiles down at me.

"Hey White, and his girlfriend" The coach says calling us over.

"Yeah coach?" Mason says and coach turns to me.

"Name?" He says cutting right to the point.

"Leah Williams" I say confused.

"You need to keep giving that kind of advice to Mason. You are always welcomed to walk over to the bench. I give you permission. Have a good day Williams, great play White" He says walking away.

"It's gonna be a good season" Mason smiles down at me, slugging his arm around me. He kisses my cheek and Ellie takes a picture.

"You saved that game Babe. I'm so proud" Samantha says coming up to us and Jim looks at me confused.

"Um actually Samantha, I'm not your babe" Mason says picking her arms off him. I let out a low chuckel at Masons actions.

"You can call me Sam hun" She says twirling her hair around her boney finger.

"Sam, back off" Christine says coming up to us.

"You don't control me Christine. Masons my boyfriend. Not yours or hers" Samantha says and I roll my eyes.

"Good game Mas" I smile at him and walk away.

"Le, wait. come in my car with me" Mason says as I'm getting into Tara's car.

"Don't you have some sort of celebratory party to go to?" I say laughing.

"Yeah, but thats in a couple hours. And you, are coming with me" Mason says dragging me to his car.

"I'm coming with you?" I say shocked.

"Yup, my mom texted your mom and you are sleeping over tonight, thank God" Mason says and I nod.

"Mason-" I start to say and he interrupts me, turning the engine on.

"No excuses. I want you there and I won't ditch you" He says and I nod, giving up.

I guess I'm going to my first high school party.

Ellie got me dressed into a pale blue loose tank top with a black bralette underneath. I have the same black leather pants on and a choker necklace. I have some bracelets and rings and then she brings out the heels.

"Ellie, I won't be able to walk in those" I say shocked at the stilettos. They're gorgeous but I cant wear them.

"Just put them on and shush" Ellie says fixing her outfit. She is wearing a tan crop top and some black skinny jeans. She has a cute belt and a choker necklace on. She has some rings and bracelets on and put on a pair of black heels. She looks amazing.

I put the heels on and then try to walk in them. It's surprisingly easier than I though.

"I look like a slüt" I say voicing my thoughts.

"No, it's a little revealing, compared to your school clothes. But your boobs and ãss are covered" Ellie states, admiring her work.

"Fine, I'll wear it. But only because you're making me" I say laughing and then we take a mirror picture.

"Masonnn" Ellie and I groan, walking into his room.

His scent immediately fills my nose and I almost faint at how amazing it smells.

"Wow, you guys look amazing" Mason says wearing a white button down shirt, his letter jacket (in case you don't know what this is, it's a jacket that football players wear that has their names and numbers etc. on it) and some black jeans.

"And you smell strong" Ellie says waving her hand to try and freshen the air.

"I'm almost ready" Mason says walking over to his mirror to fix his hair a bit.

"I'll wait downstairs" Ellie says walking out and I lay down on my stomach, playing on my phone.

"I like your outfit" Mason says looking at me through the mirror.

"Thanks, I like yours too. You look really good. Samantha will definitely be all over you tonight" I say rolling my eyes, jealously coursing through my body.

Thats weird, why am I jealous?

"Ohh, someone sounds mad. Guys will be all over you too Le. Look at you" Mason says sitting next to me.

"Thats where you're wrong" I say laughing. "And even if they are it won't do anything. I'm wearing more revealing clothes and have my makeup done. If they think I only look good like this then they aren't worth my time. Plus, I don't trust easily" I say grabbing Masons hand.

"Let's take a picture" I say leading him over to the mirror. We take one mirror photo and one cute selfie.

"Shotgun" Ellie calls out when we walk downstairs. I guess I'm kicked to the back.

We listen to some music on the way there. All different genres.

Red cups scatter across the lawn. People practically fücking right out in the open. As soon as my feet touch the ground I can feel the vibrations of the music. Alcohol reeks and I'm not even inside the house yet. Lights fill the inside of the house, spilling out. Girls vomiting into plants and random shoes scattered everywhere.

This is not my type of Friday night.
