When I woke up in the morning, the sound of rain of the roof was all I could hear. I rolled over to see Jimmy curled up on his side, the scarred side of his face was resting against the pillow. I got up and leaned over to kiss his cheek. He started to stir, but he didn’t wake up. I moved a couple of strands off of his face and started kissing his neck.
Jimmy groaned as he rolled over onto his back, causing me to roll with him. His hands wrapped around my back and I moved up so I could see him. His eyes were barely open but his lips have lifted into a smile.
“What’re you doing?” he asked sleepily before yawning.
“I woke up,” I told him.
Jimmy laughed before he rolled us over so he was on top of me. He leaned down to kiss me and I slipped my hands up around his neck.
“I love you,” he whispered to me.
“I love you too,” I whispered back.
He leaned down and continued to kiss me.
--
It continued to rain when we went to Noah’s. The men stayed around the dining room table playing cards and the girls stayed in the kitchen baking.
Jared was running outside with a large yellow Labrador Gabe must have brought from their home. They were jumping in puddles and I heard Lindsay muttering about how he was going to catch a cold.
We could hear them laugh and shout from the dining room and we even share our own couple of jokes. The house quickly filled with the delightful smell of our baking. Lindsay had brought a plate of cookies into the dining room.

I was looking out of the window as Jared came running towards the house. He must have gotten cold enough to want to come back inside. He ran across the porch and into the house.
“Honey, don’t run across the house in your wet clothes!” Jenny yelled at him as she reached out for his arm.
He pulled his arm out of her grasp and ran straight into the dining room.
“Dad! Dad! Dad!” he kept screaming until he ran into the dining room. Jenny was still chasing him. Lindsay followed behind him and Emme was quickly behind her. I didn’t like being left alone in the kitchen, so I went into the dining room too.
“What is it?” he asked.
“I saw two of them!” Jared yelled out. “They were down by the road!”
“Two?” he asked getting up out of his chair.
“Yeah,” Jared said violently shaking his head. “They’re in their car.”
“Must be hiding from the rain,” Noah told everyone.
I took a quick look at Jimmy to see his face go pale. I remembered his warnings he gave me on the way here. He told me they were a bit different with their killings. He must not want me to see this.
“Jared, go show us where you found them,” Gabe told him. “Jimmy, Tommy and Taylor, come with me.”
They all nodded their heads and got up out of their chairs. I moved away from the doorway, so that they could walk by me. Jimmy was the last one to leave and he slipped an arm around my waist and cupped the side of my face with his hand. His face was covered in fear.
“Remember that I love you,” he said, “and we only ever do that’s best for you. You know that, right?”

“I do,” I told him, my voice starting to crack.
“Tell me it.”
“You love me and only ever do what’s best for me.”
“Come on, Jimmy!” I heard Taylor yell out.
I looked over my shoulder to see Taylor waiting impatiently by the door. The rest of them have already ran outside. Jimmy leaned in and quickly smashed his lips against mine before letting me go and running out the door.
Charles and Noah walked out of the dining room and into the kitchen. The each pulled out a chair and sat down. Dylan went over to that odd shower curtain that was coming out of the wall. He pulled it back I felt the bile run up the back of my throat.
The walls were covered in dried blood and there was a cement lip lining out a square. I could see a drain on the blood and the dried streams of blood running into it. Two large hooks were dangling down from the ceiling. They were about to kill them in front of us.
Emme and Jenny sat down at the table, like they were about to watch a show. Lindsay ran upstairs and she quickly came back downstairs with a pile of towels. She dropped them down on the table and leaned up against the wall.
I felt my heart pound in my chest and I did the best I could not to look out the window. I didn’t want to watch them drag two innocent people into this house.
No!
I couldn’t think like that. Charles told me that all they were doing is protecting their family, and they don’t lie to me. All they were doing is keeping me safe and I needed to remember that. They’ve always protected me ever since Charles had taken me and that’s all they ever want to do. I was part of their family and family always come first.
Charles looked over his shoulder and looked back at me. A smirk grew across his lips and it caused my stomach to twist into a knot.
“We’re about to see whether or not Jimmy really has trained her.”

Kind’s Kiss
MAGIC DOESN'T KILL, NOT BY ITSELF. IT NEEDS A LITTLE HELP. Jessica DeRidder is a substitute teacher and mage in hiding, her daughter Ellen a killer on the run. Their next job lands the mother-daughter team in Hellhole, a small town in the middle of nowhere. All they need to do is their job. For Mom to identify the problem, and for Ellen to... fix it. Easy. Simple. But not this time. The pair find themselves caught in the struggle between the Man-in-White and the Wicked Witch of the West. A mysterious image and the theft of a deadly flower lead the pair to a score of dead prisoners, magical drug dealers, and red-eyed assassins falling from the sky. And somehow it all seems to be related to Ellen's murky past. All Ellen wants to do is do her homework, eat ice cream, and protect her newfound friends (not necessarily in that order). She'll go all-in, guns blazing. But when the smoke clears there may be nothing left but a stranger's past and a lonely future. --- 'Kind's Kiss' is a light, modern-day fantasy, easy on the magic, heavy on the snark. Though complete it is still a work in progress. One reviewer described it as 'Buffy meets Sabrina, as done by Tarantino'. I'm still not sure if I should consider that a compliment or hire a hitman :-)

Right Side of Hell
Albus Dumbledore was sure he made the right choice sacrificing an innocent child. Too late he understood how terrible that mistake was. Harry Potter was not what he wanted him to be, he was not what the magical world expected him to be. He was not a replica of James, instead, he inherited more of Lily. Far too much to be convenient.
