James's POV
Oh my god. I just saw a girl get hit by a truck. Holy crap. What do I do?
Wait, call the f-ing ambulence, thats what I do! I hear the truck screech to a stop and I hear a car door slam.
"Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. What have I done!" I hear someone say panicked. A man appaers into my view.
I run over to Annabelle. I nearly gasp when I see her.
She looks awful.
Her legs are bent under her unaturally and her face loks as though she dipped it in a bucket of red paint, then splattered the remaining paint on her bare legs.
I skid to my kness in front of her and grab her wrist, searching for a pulse. My heart stops.
Nothing.
I curse under my breath. "Stay with her and call the hospital! Now!" I say as I run back to the mansion, hoping to find her friends.
I frantically search through the huge crowd, shoving people out of the way. I get yelled at, of course, but I don't care.
I finally find her blonde friend. As I approach her breathlessly, she eyes me warily.
"Are you freinds with Annabelle?" I ask her breathlessly. "Yeah?" she says questioningly. "She's been hit by a car at full speed. Come with me." I say and I grab her wrist and pull her through the crowd leading her to the front yard.
Thankfully, the ambulence is already here, and I keep pulling the blonde girls wrist.
As we approach, we see that they already have Annabelle on a stretcher. The blonde girl gasps and runs over to the stretcher.
"Are you friends or family of the girl?" one of the men, probably the one in charge, asks hurridly as Annabelle is put into the ambulance.

The girl can baraley speak, so I step up. "Yes, we're very good friends of the girl." I say.
"Ok you can get in the back of the ambulence with her. Go." The man says sternly and we run and hop into the ambulence.
The doors are immediatly closed behind us and I hear the sirens start up and the car lurches forward and the Girl and I take a seat on either side of poor Annabelle.
I look at Annabelle, wondering how serious the damage is. I look up and see that the girl is shaking with silent sobs. I immediatly get up and sit next to her. Reasuringly, I rub her back.
"Hey, it's ok. I'm sure she'll be fine." I say as I continue to rub small circles on her back. She sniffs and looks up at me.
"Thank you so much for coming to find me. Thank goodness you saw what happened. By the time we would've noticed that she was missing it probabaly would've been to late..." She trails off as a silent tear falls down her cheek. She sniffs again and sits up straighter.
"I-I'm Scout by the way." She says trying to smile. "I'm James. Annabelle and I became really good friends and she remembered that she hadn't seen her boyfriend in a while and I agreed to help her look for him and as I was searching the dancefloor, I saw her pushing through everyone, trying to get to the door and it looked like she was crying. Naturally I ran after her, to see what was the matter, but she wasn't looking where she was running and she looked back at me and I tried to warn her but it was too late..." I tell her as I trail off.

She thinks about what I said. "I got to tell the guys and the girls about this." She says staring blankly at the ground in front of her.
Scout pulls out her phone and dials and number and holds it to her ear. She sits there a while then finally speaks up.
"Kian-" She stops talking and listens to the other person. "No babe, he's just a friend of Annabelle's, I promise. But something really bad happened. I need you to gather everyone and meet me at the hospital, now." She says and she continues to listen to the other person, Kian, her boyfriend I assume.
"No, nothing happened to me, it's Annabelle. Now hurry. Love you. Bye." She says and then she taps the screen and looks at me and gives me a sad smile.
I feel the vehicle stop and immediatly the doors are swung open and Annaelle is hurridly rolled into the hospital.
There are nurses all around her and Scout and I are told to wait in the waiting room.
Doctors are yelling orders to the nurses and the last I see of Annabelle is her head, her eyes still sealed shut and she's rolled around the corner.

This rift transports him into another galaxy, where his journey to become the core of the most prominent sect begins. --- This is my first story, and the release schedule will be spotty in the beginning because I still have to do a lot of world building and thinking where the story should go. But I decided to put it out into the world to get some feedback so I can see what people think about it and maybe even get some inspiration. --- The cover image is not my own. Letters from a Dying World
Times historic are often penned after the fact in the lifeblood of the pitiful, forgotten masses. That roiling, uncountable crush of humanity, they who held the pikes and they who threw down the tyrants. Their veins opened by gazes academic, sharp and cruel, and pecked away at with quills, written out of their own story. The Second Dark Crusade was a time of such poignancy. A time when the light of man waned and flickered, choking in the acrid smoke of its own inadequacy. As befitting of such an age it has been covered more than a capital whore, and so I attempt not to tell that story again. That story of dull, unfeeling analysis. Neither here will you find the browbeating, propagandistic screeds so common in the hands of men, the light of youth still burning behind their eyes. Nay, here I shall attempt to cover fresh ground, not tread on the grave dirt of long dead authors. Here I shall attempt to tell the story of the small lives caught, unbeknownst to them, in the great and torrential downpour that we now call history. Here lies the true story of The Second Crusade. - Loremaster Ip'Qal
