while you close your eyes

and fall into the arms of sleep

i can't help wondering

if i'll make into your dream

tonight or any other night

because i've been wakin' up

with the vision of you

resting softly on the corners

of my sleep drunken eyes

every other morning lately

you're essential to my being

and so close to my heart

that i'd never let this distance

make our friendship fall apart

your small and little efforts

made to make me smile

make a huge difference and

somehow capture my heart

to such an extent that

i keep looking for something

other than you inside myself

and end up realizing

that it's all in vain, my friend,

for lately, all i am is you

i think i can never tell you

how much i love to know

everytime i stay late to chat

you stay up too and don't go

it looks so darn cute when

you look at me and smile

and i smile back because

i know there's nothing better

than watchin' them sparkle

your deep brown eyes

like those of an adorable deer

and when i close my eyes

i swear i can recall them clear

like stars embedded in skies

i'm smiling because i know

that it's a little difficult for you

to get this silly poem of mine

but i bet you're smiling too ;)

they might mistake this poem

as written for a lover, i know

but who is a lover, i ask them

someone who loves you?

or someone whom you love?

well, i love you beyond infinity

and gingerly though, but i know,

that you love me a lot too

so i think i have to state it today

that friends are best of lovers!

and even though you're movin'

so far away from me, my friend

i just have to tell you this that

it is just a beginning with no end!
