《Fifty Shames of Earl Grey》Excerpt Part IV
Advertisement
Earl Grey has a helicopter waiting for us in the Wal-Mart parking lot. “Where’s the pilot?” I ask.
“Right here, baby,” he says, pointing two thumbs toward his chest. For the first time since he showed up in my checkout lane, I let my eyes wander the full length of his body. The bulge running down the side of his pants leg is quite noticeable. Then I notice a similar bulge running down the side of his other pants leg. Either he has a banana in each pocket, or he’s really happy to see me.
We step into the helicopter’s cockpit and he takes control of the controls like the controlling man he is. He flashes me that smile again, the one that makes me soak my sweatpants.
“I’ve never been in a helicopter before,” I say as the helicopter blades start spinning overhead. “Heck, I’ve never even flown on an airplane. This is so exciting, Mr. Grey.”
“You haven’t seen anything yet, Anna,” he says. It’s the first time he’s called me by my first name. Swoon. “Do you know what the Mile High Club is?”
I shake my head. “Is that some sort of country club for aviators?”
“Sort of,” he says, smirking.
Before I know it, we’re off the ground and soaring above the parking lot. The people are so small from this height; they look like ants (although they’re wearing clothes and have two legs instead of six). This is amazing. I’m in a helicopter with Earl Grey, the most handsomest man on the planet. And now he’s the most handsomest man in the air! I peer into the distance, and can see the Space Needle in faraway Seattle jutting above the skyline. We’re up so high, and the sun is so bright—

“Earl!” I shout.
“What!” he shouts back, over the roar of the helicopter’s massive blades.
“Watch out for the sun!”
“What!”
“I said, WATCH OUT FOR THE SUN!”
He shoots me a puzzled look.
“What? I’m not wearing sunscreen,” I say.
He shakes his head.
“Nevermind,” I mutter. He probably knows how close to the sun we can fly without getting burned. I hope.
As we begin our descent, I get butterflies in my stomach. I close my mouth, because I don’t want to pull a Kathleen and spew chunks all over Earl. He lands the helicopter at the Starbucks across the street from Wal-Mart.

Rock Hard
There lies a rock. It sleeps within a cavern, alongside a marbled altar, and in the company of a glowing, green gem. There lies a world. It waits with bated breath, as its sentient beings are put through the meat grinder that is the tutorial There lies a couple, who know not what this system offers, nor what it might entail for their world. All they know is that they must live. This is the story of how that one rock averts the fate of this doomed world, and does its best to save this group of friends. [Congratulations User! You are the first of your kind to achieve sentience. 8 81Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.
8 213Ryley Allard: Demon Law Expert
Ryley Allard isn’t a demon, and everyone in the Demon World knows it. What they don’t know is that he understands next to nothing about how a criminal justice system actually works. A detective? A lawyer? A law expert? If it means getting to keep his head attached to his body, he’ll be whatever he has to be… Even if that means he has to create the demon law system from the ground up, one mystery at a time. ______________________________________ Chapters are 900~2000 words. The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture
8 230The One Moon
Moonhan is a regular 16 year old that has gone through a lot. One day, he takes a walk and witnesses 6 boys dancing and singing. Moonhan steps into the idol world after being scouted. However, Moonhan's life doesn't just revolve around being an idol. He goes through many different situations that helped him mature and working towards being an idol is just one of them. This is the story of Moonhan and his story to being a top idol. The story is inspired by the Kpop world and is totally fictional. There may be some song titles and group name's that are used by Kpop and are not made by me. For example, Icon's song "Why Why Why" is inspired by the Kpop group Ikon's song "Why Why Why" in my story. Other group names and song titles used in my story are all original. When not, I will mention in authors notes.
