《Pandora's Gift》Chapter 38

The sound of an alarm going off was what rudely awaken the dark haired woman. It felt like every bellow of that alarm was beating her over the head with a baseball bat. Mumbling a few curses she simply tried to bury her head more into her pillow. Which was apparently not an actual pillow as her pillow started to move under her. Peeling her eyes up as much as she could she welcomed that the room was still dark until the phone that was the offending loud device screen lit up as a hand went to turn the alarm off, or at least she hoped it was being turned off and not put on snooze. The bright light made her eyes ache which brought its own slue of curse words from the woman as she quickly tried to bury her head back into the warm body beneath her.
"God what time is it?" She asked as she tried to hide her face in Bakugou's chest.
"Oh five hundred hours," Was the reply she got. Damn it five am, how long had they been asleep for? Then again maybe the better question was how many rounds did they go? She remembered him nearly ripping her clothes off of her before he had her pinned to the bed. That had been fun, Then again the next round had been as well when she wrestled him onto the bed next riding him till they both came. She was also pretty sure she had been folded up like a damn pretzel at some point with the slight ache in her muscles.
"Who the fucks alarm was that?" she growled, closing her eyes and wanting to just go back to sleep as she took a nice deep inhale loving the smell of roasted marshmallows and smoke that filled her nose. But it seemed like sleep was not going to be allowed again as the body under hers started to move again and this time she was rudely pushed off of her nice and warm pillow. That drew a whine from her she did not mean to let out as she blinked her eyes open and watched as Bakugou turned on a lap on his side of the bed as he sat up. His bare back facing her allowed her to take in the sight of the scars that marked up the back of body. Every sliver of silvery skin was just another sign of how strong he was. Each scar a badge of a battle he won. A prime alpha specimen.
"Mine. Now get your ass up," He said those vermilion eyes looking back at her over his shoulder as a far to wicked grin pulled at his lips, "We are going for a run."
Huh? He had to be kidding. There was no way she was going to get up and go run with him. Not while she was babying a hangover and pounding headache that came with it.
"Hell no. Go run on your own. Or go wake up Kirishima," She growled not at all liking the almost sadistic grin he was giving her.
"Nope you are not getting out of this. You kept me up late last night. You are going to suffer with me," he said, watching as she pulled the blankets up over her head as if she could somehow hide from him. Like hell she was just going to get up.
"I do not even have any workout clothes here. Just leave me here," She called out not even caring if she sounded like a child as she tried to hide in his blankets trying to enjoy the heat from his body that remained. But the bliss was short lived as the blankets that rested over her body was rather rudely snatched off of her. She did not even care if the noise she made was indigent as cool air slid over her bare body.

"Son of a bitch," She growled looking up at a naked Bakugou that held the blanket that moments ago had been keeping her nice, warm and engulfed in his scent now rolled up in his hands.
"Get your ass up looser," He nearly barked at her. Sighing she knew she had no choice now. It was too cold for her to be naked just laying on the bed.
"Ass," She growled as she slowly sat up and started to look around the room for the clothes she had been wearing the night before. She should have packed an overnight bag. Or maybe she should just leave some clothes here? Oh no she could not do that. That would be weird, and would it also mean that her and Bakugou were more than just friends? Wait, were they even friends? She was not exactly the answer to that questions. Were they just people that hung out from time to time and fucked too? No more like they were colleagues that fucked. Fuck that was even worse she should not be sleeping with a coworker. Ugh thinking about that subject was just making her head hurt more as she found her panties, slipping them back on before looking for her bra next.
"Just get up and stop whining," was the growl she got from a now boxer-clad blonde. Damn she liked it better when he was naked. But the view was still nice.
"Can I at least get a glass of water and a painkiller before you drag me around the city at this ungodly hour?" she asked as she slipped her bra on before a random shirt was tossed onto her head. Bakugou's heavenly scent clung to the material as she did not even question it as she pulled the dark t-shirt over her head and down before a pair of sweats were tossed at her the same way.
"Cups are in the kitchen. Painkillers in the bathroom. Help yourself," was the grumble she got as the man stood in his closet getting himself dressed now that he had tossed clothes that he assumed would fit her well enough to use. With the grey sweat pants in hand she turned and made her way out of the bedroom. She did not even care that Kirishima was more than likely in the house somewhere. But she was more than certain that the man would not be awake at this hour. Especially not after the part and the chance that he and Sasara had most likely done the same thing as her and Bakugou which meant that they had not gone to bed at any sort of a decent hour. So in an over-sized shirt and panties she walked to the bathroom. More than happy to relieve herself before she put the pants on and tied the drawstring tight. Thank god Bakugou had such a tiny waist for a man or she would have been in trouble. Though she still found herself rolling the pant legs a little, not liking how they hanged more than she felt comfortable with.
Grabbing a little pill from the men's medicine cabinet she now made her way out of the bathroom and headed for the kitchen. She did not care if she may have been a little louder than needed grabbing a glass and filling it up with water just from the tap. She did not give any shits at that moment as she tossed the little painkiller into her mouth then chased it with a mouthful of water. The water was a welcome as she downed the rest of the glass after swallowing the pill that she hoped would offer her some relief rather soon.

She could barely hear Bakugou's nearly silent footsteps across the floor as he stood in the entryway of the kitchen. Thick arms crossed over his broad chest as he scowled at her. He really just had a bad habit of resting bitch face, she was sure.
"Hurry up," He growled as he leaned against the wall watching her refill the glass of water.
"You're going to give yourself a cramp running with a full gut of water," He warns though it does not sound like a warning she knows that was it really is.
"I'm dehydrated. Running will only make that worse. I need to get some water into my body if you expect me to function this morning," She argued back but did not down the entire glass this time only about half before she placed the cup in the sink and started towards him and passed as she headed for the front door.
The early morning air had a bit of a bite to it when in nothing more than sweats and a shirt. But then again once they got moving it was not so bad. The two set off at a good paced jog as the two seemed to fall into a nice rhythm as they ran side by side. Boy, when was the last time Sakaki had gone for an early morning run? Back in high school that was for sure. She now chose to do any of her outdoor running in evenings rather than mornings. But mostly she chose to run on the treadmill or just workout over all in gyms now. She no longer had the fears and insecurities she once had as a kid.
Bakugou did not hold the decent pace for long though as he quickly started to up the pace as the two ran. And of course Sakaki being the stubborn idiot she could be. She refused to let Bakugou leave her in the dust. One thing they both had in common but would never admit was that stupid stubborn streak they each contained. Each block it felt like Bakugou was picking up the pace, the nice empty streets made it nice and easy once the two of them had broken out into full blown running.
It was a quick reminder that for Bakugou's large size and bulky looking build compared to the everyday civilian did not slow him down at all. A lot of people loved to assume his speed was solely due to his quirk, they were not completely wrong. Bakugou could rocket himself around pretty damn fast with those explosions of his. But even without using his quirk Bakugou was quick on his feet. Sakaki had always prized herself on being fast as well, being smaller, slender and not as strong as most other hero's she had quickly learned to use her added speed and agility to her advantage. But right now Bakugou was keeping up with her. This was not a speed race, no it was an endurance one. And that was going to be her downfall. Her breath was already heavy, coming out in pants as she tried to keep her breathing at least steady and even even as her body demanded more oxygen for her muscles. The full stomach of water did not help her either but she would never admit Bakugou may have been right. But at least she was happy to hear that his own breath was also coming out in heavy puffs and his own body was starting to sweat. So she was not the only one who was working to hold the fast pace. But who could hold the pace the longest?
It did not take long to learn the answer to that question though Sakaki should never have wondered about it. She knew she was not an endurance runner. She was built for fast and swift attacks, not for long drawn out workouts. Bakugou on the other hand had much more stamina than she did. His hands on, just running around punching and exploding villains battle style kind of encouraged him to train up his stamina so he would not tire easily mid fight. But Sakaki favored more sneak attacks when she could, or bet yet not having to fight if she could avoid it thanks to her quirk. So it was a no-brainer that she was the first to slow, unable to keep up the heavy running.
Luckily he did not completely leave her alone as she fell more into the same pace as they started out with trying to regain some much needed air into her body. Of course she did not miss that smug grin on his lips as he started to slow till eventually they fell into step again. Damn she wished she could punch that shit eating grin off his face. Although he was not saying anything out loud the look he gave her was just screaming that he felt nice and smug with his winning of their little unofficial race. Dick.
"Slowing down already?" He was a little breathless as he spoke but damn she wished he sounded at least a little more exhausted.
"Shut up," she snapped at him, struggling enough as it was just to talk and breathe.
"Want to see who is faster in a fifty meter dash?" She growled softly knowing that had it not been for the fact that were just running aimlessly down streets in the middle of the city that he won. Had this been a track with a set distance to run the fastest she would have won. But she was honestly not even sure anymore how many city blocks they had covered.
"I'd still kick your ass," he smirked back at her. That was a lie, they both knew she would win a dash with no quirks allowed. But Bakugou would never admit that out loud. And so his comment earned him an eye roll from the woman who was jogging beside him. And yet even with the slight back and forth banter Sakaki could not deny the early morning run with the blonde was shaping up to be rather fun. Or at least it had been till what felt like a wrecking ball suddenly collided with her. She and Bakugou had slightly parted ways to avoid a random bag of what she could only assume was someone's garbage that was just left in the middle of the street. Then again had she paid more attention to the homes and buildings around them she may have noticed the two had run a long way from their safe and more respectable neighborhood.
The scream of surprise she had let out as her and another body started to roll on the ground as she attempted to push the large lumbering body above hers off. But before any real fighting could even start she could hear the almost animalistic roar Bakugou had let out as he had turned to her attacker, wrenching the large man back and off of her. The man was nearly as wide as Bakugou but not nearly as tall so it was not all that hard for the blonde to wrap one of those large calloused hands around the guy's neck and hold him off the ground high enough his feet could not touch. If she thought she was breathing hard before now her heart was trying to crawl up her own throat. Her body ached from hitting the ground so hard. But at least she had kept him from being able to pin her. She had heard teeth snapping at her among the few seconds of fiery. She had been stupid. She did not have any scent blockers on. She did not wear any last night nor had she packed any with her. Once again she had not planned to be out running and sweating in the early morning. She had been an idiot for letting her guard down so much. Having Bakugou with her and his scent from his clothes she wore she expected no one would have dared try to touch her. But it seemed an unmarked omega was still too great of a temptation. And she should have known that.
"What the hell," Was the growl Bakugou had given as his other hand was needed to grab at the man's wrists as he had tried to reach back and claw at Bakugou. More animalistic than human noises came from the man along with the stench of burnt rubber.
"I'll call in a report and have a car come pick him up," Sakaki said as she slowly pushed herself to her feet before digging into the pockets of Bakugou's sweats, having ignored his unasked question. She was probably never going to give those back. She would take them home and sew the pant legs shorter and keep them as she loved that her cell phone had still remained in the pocket of the man's pants. Had this been one of her pants the phone would have been gone somewhere from the force of the hit. It took no time for her to hit her speed dial. After all she usually worked with cops a bit so she had a few on speed dial but a nearby police station would easily send down a pair of cops in a car. Glancing along the street looking for a street sign she listened as a familiar voice picked up the line sounding tired in the early morning hour. Sakaki kept it short and sweet as she listed off her hero name and that she was in position of an aggressive alpha and that she needed assistance and gave her location before she hung up the phone and once again turned her attention to Bakugou who was still holding the man like he was holding a pissed off cat.
"Got a tight hold on him?" She asked, watching as the man still slightly squirmed in Bakugou's grip but at least was no longer trying to throw himself around and scratch at the blonde, though it's not like he could do much of either but he was no longer trying at least.
"Yes. Did you call for someone to come haul him off?" Bakugou asked only for the man to quickly start struggling again to try and get away now that he was aware cops had been called. All that earned him was now being sent face first into the cement sidewalk as Bakugou apparently had enough of his struggles and was happy to pin him to the ground as he had tried to do to her.
"Yes it should not take long for someone to show up," She said walking towards the two so she could kneel down a little and look at the man who now had blood gushing from his nose that had hit the ground before the rest of him.
"You picked a bad target. Next time don't attack a hero while she's with a fellow hero to back her up," She growled down at the man who simply started to yell at her. Things along the lines of omega slut left his lips before Bakugou was smashing his face against the cement again.
"Watch your mouth," was the growl of warning that came from the blonde who was more than happy to dig his knee into the man's back more as well as he cried out in pain.
"It's alright Bakugou. I doubt he will learn anything even if you try to beat it into him,' She said simply as she moved to stand back up and glance around. Now knowing they were in a less than perfectly safe area and her sweat scent was heavy in the air from her work out she was now on high alert. Bakugou was occupied and she had no desire to be slammed into again. Damn that had hurt. Almost felt like she had been run over by a car. She found herself softly and gently rolling her left shoulder unhappy with the slight ache that came from the simple action.
"Are you hurt?" Was that almost concern she picked up from the blonde as she glanced over her shoulder at him with a slightly arched brow.
"A little tender from hitting the ground but it's nothing new. I will be fine," She said simply as she stood guard till the cop car pulled up beside them and she watched two uniformed men get out and walk up towards the two. In a matter of moments the man was cuffed and being led towards the cop car to be slipped into the back seat.
Sakaki could not help the slight goosebumps that prickled at her arms. This was not the first time she had been attacked while doing something as simply as a job. She wished she could say it did not bother her but it did. She was more than aware of just how horribly that could have been had Bakugou not been there to rip the man off of her so fast. If she would have been forced to fight him off alone would she have been able to? He was a big fellow and if he had been able to pin her she may have been done for. And the thoughts of what could have happened had a shiver run up her back as her right arm was subconsciously rubbing at her left arm.
"Pandora," The sound of her hero name snapped her out of her head as she blinked her eyes and in a second had a smooth mask forced onto her face.
"Yes," She said, turning her attention towards the officer that had addressed her.
"We will need you and Dynamite to come and make an official report. Can you meet us down at the station right away?" Was the question she knew was coming.
"Yes that's fine we will head straight there," She said with a simple nod of her head. So much for a nice morning run.
