《Pandora's Gift》Chapter 27

Maybe thinking that the patrol was going to be exciting was a delusional thought. Sakaki did not feel like she could trust the man walking beside her. Sure they were both hero's and in a sense good people. But still she couldn't push away the feeling of his eyes were always on her as the two walked even if she stayed more than an arm's reach away. Hell she was nearly walking in the street to keep enough distance between them. But still she could feel her shoulders tense up as if it felt wrong patrolling with the stranger. Was it because he was not Katsuki? Or that if she even tried to remove her mask his scent would hit her tongue and make her gag. It was like she licked a car tire. The taste that rested on her tongue was disgusting. No matter what the reason it made even the start of that patrol horrible. And of course the man did not help either. He seemed eager to try and chat with her, sure it was polite of him but still she was not in any sort of mood to chat.

"You smell like Dynamite. Is there a reason for it?" That question finally had her break her lack of eye contact and answers as she shot a glare over at the man.

"Besides the fact that I patrolled with him this morning and also had to deal with him this afternoon while I was working out I am not surprised that his scent would linger on my clothes," She said shortly not at all enjoying the look he gave her as he arched an eyebrow and seemed to look down his nose at her.

"Well it's rather unbecoming of an unmated omega smelling of a coworker," he said simply. This did not sit well with the woman.

"I don't care. I am not looking for a mate and if someone is offended that I smell of a different alpha then they can shove that opinion where the sun don't shine," she growled at the alpha. This seemed to surprise and offend him. As if his rude words had meant to be rude and she was being uncalled for aggressive. Of course it was not the first time she had a strange alpha tell her how to act or be. And surely it would not be the last either. But still it completely irritated her, and after the day she had she was struggling not to completely growl and snap at the man.

"I'm gonna go patrol a few of the back alleys in the area," she said, not bothering to watch or listen to him as he tried to tell her they needed to patrol together and that it was dangerous for an omega to go alone. She didn't bother to pay him any attention as she trotted away and into an alley quickly jumping into a dumpster and pushing up to grab at a fire escape edge as she pulled herself up it and proceeded to climb up onto the roof. Now alone and above the street she let out a sight as the weight on her shoulders lifted a little.

Pulling her mask down she was able to take in a slow deep breath. It was nice being able to feel like she could breathe again. Listening to the sounds of the city around her, she found herself relaxing. She wished she could have stayed on that rooftop all night long, but she knew that wasn't possible as she still had a job to do even if both her mind and body protested the thought of moving and going about her patrol. Turning towards the roof of a nearby building she took off running happy that the buildings in the area were close together making it easy to just jump from roof to roof as she made her way down the street before she finally came to a dead end on the roof that forced her to climb down and continue to patrol down on the street. The streets were bare as she silently walked along the sidewalk. It almost made the night seem quiet, no drunks trying to get home, stores closed aside from the odd convenient store. It truly felt a little nerve racking, or maybe it was her already frayed nerves that were making her think that? Either way she left her mask hanging down around her neck as she walked.

With her body tense and unwilling to unwind she almost wished that someone would have actually tried something. No attempted robbery or villain attack. It was boring and only made her feel even more uneasy. The night was too quiet and uneventful, it felt unnatural. Even as she started making her way back to the agency, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was going to happen. But maybe she was just feeling paranoid. The day had taken a toll on her physically and mentally, and this paranoia was most likely the side effect of her current state of mind and body.

Once that disgusting scent filled her nose she quickly pulled her mask back up as she glanced over and watched the hero she had ditched walk around a corner and make his way towards her. With simply a nod of their heads that's all the greeting they gave each other as they turned and made their way back towards the agency this time in silence. The silence didn't end even as they stepped into the agency. They quickly parted ways as she headed to the women's locker room welcoming the chance to get out of her uniform.

And yet even once she was dressed she still found herself just pacing around the locker room. Now she did not want to leave the locker room. Was it a concern for running into the rude alpha again? It wasn't but she was going to use it as an excuse. Even once she gained the strength to poke her head out into the hallway she found that the place seemed empty. Slowly she forced herself into the hall but still she really did not wish to return home. So what does she do instead of letting her exhausted body go home? She drags herself over and tests the door to the guy's office only to find it unlocked. Morons. Oh well this would give her something to do instead of heading home. She paused as she stepped into the room and couldn't help but take a deep slow breath. Both scents were so calming to bother her omega and her poor nerves. But now guilt ate away at her remembering how upset she had gotten with the blonde.

A part of her wanted to curl up and cry at how she had gotten mad at him and told him she wouldn't patrol with him. She was conflicted, one part of her brain ached for him. The other wanted to remind her to remain strong and be independent. To not give into theses annoyingly stupid instincts. And yet she still found herself walking over to the blonde's desk as she sat down in his chair and grabbed at a stack of paperwork as she slowly started to work at it. Her hands worked painfully slow and her eyes quickly grew heavy as she struggled to read what was on the paper before her eyes.

She didn't even remember falling asleep, her arms crossed beneath her head as a soft smile tugged at her lips as she slept peacefully encased by the scent of two soothing alpha's and friends. When did not just one but both scents become so welcoming? So soothing? So calming? She had always hated the scent of alpha's, even Miruko had taken a long time to get used to and still her scent was not all that great. But Bakugou and Kirishima were different, both scents alone were soothing but together they seemed even better.

It wasn't till the sound of the door swinging closed that she started and woke up. Her body jolted up as she toppled over backwards with a slight yelp of surprise. She had not expected her body to go ass over tea kettle as she ended up a crumpled mess on the floor. Confused and dazed she didn't even know what happened as she listened to heavy footsteps come rushing over. Slowly trying to understand what the hell just happened she was slowly blinking her eyes as she moved to sit up. Large hands rested on her shoulders and a soothing earthy scent filled her nose.

"Sakaki. I'm so sorry I didn't know you were asleep in here I wouldn't have let the door slam shut behind me," Kirishima sounded worried and guilty for having not only woken her up but started her so badly that she had flipped Bakugou's large office chair over. Which was quite the feet. And had it been anyone else it would have been completely hilarious.

"What time is it?" Hell she didn't even know what day it was.

"It's almost noon I just got here. Have you been here all night? You went out on patrol with Archaic right? You also patrolled yesterday morning with Bakugou. Have you gone home at all?" Kirishima asked as he offered the woman a hand to help her up to her feet before he grabbed Bakugou's chair to lift it upright as well.

"No, I wanted to work on that paperwork I had neglected yesterday," She answered, running a hand through her long dark locks trying to untangle them a little.

"Before your little nap at Bakugou's desk. Did you get any sleep in the last twenty four hours?" Kirishima asked, looking rather worried at the woman.

"I got a little nap in yesterday between my argument with Bakugou and the patrol with Archaic," She said sheepishly, not wanting to admit she had curled up in a makeshift nest in the locker room because she's struggling to not have a mental breakdown at the moment. Of course he gave her a look that screamed he was skeptical about that. And really he had a right to be, she really didn't get any actual much needed deep sleep. And with him arching an eyebrow at her and looking increasingly skeptical she knew there would be no arguing with what was going to come out of his mouth next.

"Go home. You're no good to anyone when you're exhausted. Go home, get some real sleep. Come back tomorrow before noon and you can join me for patrol tomorrow," Kirishima said as he crossed his arms over that wide broad chest as he glared down at her when she opened her mouth about to argue with him. So instead she let her mouth close and she sighed softly. She knew when she was defeated and this was one of those times.

"Alright, alright I'll go home. Have a good patrol Kirishima," She said softly as she tried not to look defeated before she started to drag her feet and left the office heading home. Her body was still exhausted even once she did manage to drag herself out of the agency and down the street to head home.

She was so sleep deprived that she didn't even remember walking home, her body just walked On autopilot till she pulled her house keys out and she was greeted with the warm scent of her home. She couldn't help the soft whimper that escaped her as she headed straight to her bathroom. She needed a shower and to rid herself of the scents that clung to her before she crawled into her own bed. Wrapping herself up in a fuzzy blankets she found herself nesting with her blankets and pillows trying to sooth and comfort herself the best she could. It was perfect but eventually she drifted off to sleep.

It wasn't till her stomach started to cramp up and demand food that she finally stirred awake. She didn't want to get up. Her body wanted both more sleep and food. When had she eaten last? Did she even eat the other day? She couldn't remember if she had more than a granola bar for breakfast before heading to the agency. She never ate lunch with Bakugou like she typically did since she was beating up a punching bag. That memory had her knuckles ache a little as she forced herself to her feet. She never even got dressed after her shower. Tossing on some clean panties and a shirt she headed to her kitchen in an attempt to find something quick and simple to eat. She did not have the strength to actually cook anything, but as she rummaged through her kitchen she was greeted with a knock at her door. She paused contemplating ignoring the knock till a familiar voice called out to her.

"Shun open this door! I know your home," It was Sasara who was standing on the other side of her front door. Sighing, she walked over and flipped the lock.

"Let me put on some pants at least," she said walking towards her bedroom with her back turned as she heard Sasara and Hatori walk into her home as she slipped into her room and put on some leggings before she walked back out.

The smell of ramen was making her mouth water as she found her friend unpacking take out containers with a bouncing excited Hatori who was just as excited as Sakaki to enjoy hot, fresh ramen.

"You know me so well Sasara," Sakaki cooed playfully as she watched the silver haired woman laugh lightly.

"You should thank Ei. He was the one who texted me. Said you were asleep in his office at Bakugou's desk this morning. Sounded like you were in a rough shape. He was worried you wouldn't eat. And with the way your drooling and her stomach is growling he's right. You haven't eaten today have you?" full blown mother mode had kicked in as she handed Sakaki her share of the ramen before grabbing her own bowl and Hatori's and headed for the table.

"I didn't eat yesterday or today," she said softly knowing it would be useless to try and argue with her best friend.

"You're lucky the guys care so much," Sasara said as she started to dig into her meal. Though hearing her say the guys had Sakaki arch an eyebrow at her friend.

"What do you mean guys?" she asked watching Sasara flash a wide grin at her.

"Ei called me while I was trying to figure out what to get you for dinner. Bakugou was throwing a fit in the background about how you need a proper meal. Good protein and fiber, something filling but not unhealthy. It was rather interesting listening to him telling Ei what to say to me. Even though I could hear him loud and clear," Sasara said, watching Sakaki suddenly shift and become uncomfortable as she eyed you her ramen and fiddled with her chopsticks.

"That's surprising. I doubt he actually cared. Especially after the screaming match we got into," she mumbled softly.

"Oh I know I heard about that too. The two of you are so similar. You're both stubborn idiots," Sasara said bluntly but still Sakaki laughed lightly.

"You are not wrong. But he is just so infuriating. Like he treats me like I am an idiot. I know how to do my job. We learned how to do it together. Hell I have actually had my license longer than him since the idiot failed his first time. Just because he is running his own agency and a top ten hero doesn't mean he's better than me," Now Sakaki was ranting as she even flung her hands around a little, unable to help it as she became more lively as the ranting continued.

"It sounds like he cares about you," Sasara said between mouthfuls of her food. That had Sakaki nearly choking on her mouthful of noodles.

"How the hell did you come to that conclusion?" Sakaki asked, completely unable to believe her friend. After all, she assumed her friend barely knew the two hero's.

"Well aside from the fact he sounded pretty heated up earlier. He clearly was worried about you not getting a proper meal and any proper sleep. But with that bed head I'm sure you got some sleep before I arrived. And I am sure when Ei tells him you're doing fine he will be relieved," Sasara said with a simple shrug of her shoulders.

"So Ei? When did you and Kirishima get so close?" Sakaki asked quickly, wanting to change the subject. And of course at that comment she watched her pale haired friend blush deeply and dip her head a little.

"While you were shaking up with your hero. Ei came for dinner every night. He stayed the night a few days ago," she said softly under her breath, not wanting Hatori to overhear too much. But that answer was not what Sakaki was expecting. Well damn her friend was able to get the red heads attention. It was mildly surprising they realized their feelings so quickly. Or the fact that her friend who had avoided dating like the plague had actually allowed herself to sleep with another man.

"Well I hope you're using protection. I don't want to be another Aunty any time soon," she teased lightly and couldn't help but laugh as Sasara smacked her arm playfully as they finished their meals and Hatori started working on his homework that he had with him since they had come straight to her place with food and never went home.
