《Looking For A Place Called Home》Chapter 3 ~ The bullying

Every day there was like waking up in hell. Jade and her little sidekick refused to leave me alone. My life was living hell. "Ooh look she's going to cry Jadey" Shelby laughed after slapping me around the head. I wiped my eyes furiously "You won't get to me! You can't make me cry, for I don't care what you do anymore. Are you happy that you hurt me so much?" They just laughed and walked away.
I couldn't even go to Ms Blair about it either because she absolutely hated me! Every day she picked on me, and said that I'm the worthless one and that I'll never be loved by anyone. Was what she said true? Would there never be a person who truly cares about Madison Ziegler?
One day, I was scrubbing the floors and Jade and Shelby entered the room. "Shelby, look at the little peasant. Scrub on Maddie, maybe it'll actually give you some exercise and make you less fat." Jade smirked and kicked over my bucket of dirty water. I sighed and began to make a list of rules in my head.

If I showed that I cared, they would just feel like they actually accomplished something. They would just laugh and do it more, thinking that they can break me. I may have been younger than everyone else and I may have been the smallest, but that didn't give them a right to bully me and make me feel like I shouldn't be here.

If I believed everything that they said, I'm sure that I would have died a long long time ago. Sometimes, they would lie and say that a family wanted to adopt me and that they were sorry. I used to want it to be true so badly that I believed them, but all that came out of that was being locked in a cupboard all day.

If I changed who I was just to please them, I would no longer be who I was meant to be. No one can make you feel like you are not normal or that you should change.
Just thinking about my rules gave me a little hope, for they did not know that what they were doing really hurt me. They didn't think about what they were saying. Soon there is a family coming and I am definitely going to woo them. This is my time. I'm not going to be looking for a place called home any longer.

Author's disclosure: My purpose in this novel is to explore trading and adventure in a magic world. I'll try to put some humor and good fights in the novel to make it more fun. This is a spin-off novel of AK – The Alchemy Kingdom. You don't have to read the other novel to understand or follow this one. It might offer some additional information and entertainment, tough. You can also check my other spin-off novel, Harbinger of Death, which will be more action-focused and a little grimdark. Even if you are not a fan of the genre, give it a chance. I'm adding some soft romance in the hopes to make it unique and interesting. I'm trying to improve my writing skills, so your comments and reviews are welcome. New chapters three times a week.
