Gianna's POV:

Today is the Open Call Auditions. It's 5am! I'm so tired.

Mackenzie is still asleep so I quietly got up, got my clothes and went to my bathroom to get dressed. When I came back out, Kenz was still asleep so I went to the kitchen, made breakfast for the others and then wrote a note and it said

So, I put the pancakes in the microwave, out the note on the work surface, where it is easy to see. And then I went upstairs to say bye to the girls and give them each a goodbye kiss. And then I got my suitcase, and my handbag, checked that I had everything that I needed and then I got in my car and left.

Maddie's POV:

I woke up and Kendall was still asleep so I went around the house and everyone was still sleeping. I went into Gianna's room and saw Kenzie asleep in Gianna's bed. So, I looked at the time and saw that it was 6:30am so I went downstairs and saw a note on the kitchen work surface so I read it. It was from Gianna. She had to go earlier but she left breakfast in the microwave. So I went over to the microwave and opened it and saw a plate full of 20 pancakes!! So I took 2 from the top and ate them, then I went upstairs to wake up the others because it was now 7 o'clock and Jeannine is coming at 8am. Once everyone was awake, they went down to have breakfast, while I went to get dressed for dance, when Kendall came into our room, I was putting my hair up. She went over to her wardrobe and got out her dance wear and went to get changed. I waited for her to be ready then we walked downstairs together to see everyone down there apart from Brynn and Kenzie. So I went to see what was holding them up, Brynn was comforting Kenzie and Kenzie was crying. So I went over to my sister and asked her "Kenz, what's wrong" she replied with "Gianna left." So I said "It's okay. She will be back tomorrow." Kenzie looked at me and said "But, I want her now!" So I said "How about I message Gianna and ask her if she can FaceTime us later. Yeah?" She nodded so I said "Okay, now let's go downstairs to go to the studio." She looked at me and said "Can I come in a car with you Maddie?" So I nodded and said "Of course you can Kenz." So me, Kenzie and Brynn came downstairs and I said to Brooke, Kenzie is upset because she misses Gianna. Can you swap cars with me, she wants to be in a car with me?" Brooke understood and said "Of course, I'll swap cars with you." Then we went to let Kelly and Christi know. They understood as well and both gave Kenzie a hug, then Jeannine arrived so we went to the cars and went to the Studio.

Gianna's POV:

I just got a message from Maddie, saying

I waited for a reply. 5 minutes later my phone beeped letting me know I got a message and it was from Maddie so I opened it and read

I had to work hard to stop myself from crying when I read that message. Poor Mackenzie. So I replied with

Then I got a reply saying

So I Saint back a message saying

I saw that it said Read - 8:23am.

So I put my phone in my pocket and started getting all the papers ready for the auditions. I was expecting a lot of dancers so I had a lot of numbers. On the flyers, I specified that I was looking for petite dancers, so I know that I will only be seeing young dancers.

Maddie's POV:

It's now 9:55am and no-one apart from me, Jeannine and James know that Gianna is going to FaceTime. James told us all to go into Studio A and he asked Mackenzie for her phone and then he connected it to the speakers and the projector and it came up on the screen in the Studio. It was a really big screen. All the girls were confused and I was just sitting there grinning so the girls asked me what was going on, and I was about to answer but then I just pointed at the screen and they turned and saw but it didn't say who so James unlocked Kenzie's phone and answered it and you couldn't see anyone so James said "Hello?"

And no one answered and then Kenzie said "Who is there?"

And Gianna showed her face on the screen and Kenzie smiled so big and went up right to the screen and started crying and then she ran and sat on my lap and cried. So I said "Kenzie, I messaged Gianna this morning when you were upset and we arranged for her to FaceTime you and when she does, you run away crying. Come with me for a minute."

Then, I led her out of the studio and into the Dancers den, and I phoned Gianna because she has 2 phones and she answered and I put her on speaker and while the girls were in Studio A talking to Gia, me and Kenz were in the Dancers den talking to Gia. That was going fine until Gia said "Kenz, can you come back into Studio A please. I have something to show you." So me and Kenz walked back into the Studio and James wasn't in there anymore. So we sat down and Gianna said "Kenz, this is the last bit of your Birthday Present from me and the other dance teachers."

Mackenzie's POV:

Then James walked in with a small cardboard box, I looked at him then at Gianna and she said to open it so I did and then I started crying again and I ran out of the studio. Again. Inside the box was a small white dog, who was sleeping. Maddie ran after me after looking in the box. Then she said to me "Kenz, do you not like it?" I shook my head and said "No, I love it but it's gonna remind me more that Gianna isn't here." So she thought for a minute and then said "Okay. Well, what are you gonna call it?" I didn't know so I said the 1st thing to come into my head "Is it a girl or a boy?" She didn't know so she went and asked and then came back and told me that it is a girl. So I thought for a little while and then said "I think I will call her Maliboo. Because I love that name!" Maddie looked at me and said "Kenz, I love that name. Come on let's go and tell the others and say bye to Gia because she probably has to go now."

So we went back into Studio A and I went over to the dog and took her out of the box and James said "Kenz, you probably shouldn't do that yet, she might not like it." As he said that She licked my face and snuggled into me so I just looked at everyone and then walked over to the screen where Gia still was and said "Thank you so much Gianna. I'm going to love Maliboo so much!" It took her a minute to realise what I said and then she said "Kenzie, that is a great name for your dog! But, I have to go now and then she said bye to everyone else and went. Then Jeannine said "Alright, so it is 10:45 now, so let's start practicing your dances. We will start with Kalani's solo in here with me and Maddie's solo in Studio B with James. Everyone else go into Studio C and Practice. Kenzie, please put Maliboo down and put her on the lead that's in the box and you can take her for a tour of the studio with 1 person. Who are you going to choose?" I looked at all the girls and then said "Well, I really want Maddie." So Jeannine said "Okay. Maddie go with your sister. Brynn, you can practice your solo with James in Studio B. Let's go." So, me and Maddie took Maliboo for a tour of the whole Studio and when we finished we went into Studio C and saw Chloe and Paige practicing their duet so we sat and watched and when they finished me and Maddie did our duet with Maliboo sitting with Brooke. Then Jeannine came in and said "Can we practice the group now?" So we went and I said to Maddie "Take care of Maliboo for me."

So we practiced the group for a while and then we had lunch.

Gianna's POV:

Mackenzie loves the dog. I'm so happy. Now, it's time for the open call auditions to start. I opened the doors and said "Welcome everyone to the open call audio system to become a member of the GMDC petite competition team." Everyone cheered so I said "So, if you would like to come in and get a number and write down your name with the number that you have, then we can get started."

"If you are numbers 1-50 please come to the centre of the floor and you are going to learn a combination and then do it. So here combination is............" So let's do this.

Straight away, I took note of about 3 girls who would be a good fit with Kenzie, Jojo and Brynn.

There are about 70 dancers that I liked so, I invited them back later for the next round. There were 55 girls and 15 boys. Because I'm interested in possibly having boys on the team as well. But I haven't decided yet. So, it's now about 2:30 so I went and had lunch before going back to have the 70 dancers dance again to narrow it down to 50 dancers to come back tomorrow.

I'm back now with the 70 dancers. I decided to have the 15 boys go first. So I taught them the combination and then had them do it altogether. They were all good so I split the group into 3 groups of 5 and had each group dance it again. And then I eliminated about 8 of them. So I had 7 boys who I had dance again and I eliminated 2 more so I had 5 boys coming back tomorrow.

Then I moved onto the girls. I had them all dance together and then I split them into 5 groups of 11 and had each group dance again and I eliminated 20 girls and then I put the remaining 35 girls into 5 groups of 7 and had them dance again and then I eliminated 15 more so I had 20 girls coming back tomorrow.

So, altogether I have 25 dancers coming back tomorrow.

I was finished here. So I decided to go and do some sightseeing and get a little present for each of the girls. So, I went to the shopping mall and got each girl a new outfit. I spent $750 altogether in less that 2 hours!

Maddie's POV:

It's now 5pm and we have gone through every dance and Jeannine and James said they all look good so they let us relax for a while, so me, Kendall, Brynn, Kalani, Chloe and Paige went into the Dancers Den and put on our Tap shoes and went into Studio B to join in with the tap class that was happening. Brooke, Nia, Jojo and Kenzie went into Studio C with Maliboo staying right at Kenzie's feet, saying that they were going to do some Acro tricks.

At 5:30, James came in and said to me to come outside quick. So I followed him into Studio C and saw Mackenzie laying on the floor with Maliboo on her licking her face. I asked what happened and Brooke said "She was doing her front aerials and she slipped and fell." Brooke started to cry, so did I. I went over to Kenzie and said "Kenz, please wake up. I thought I lost you once already please don't make me go through that again!". By this time everyone was crowding around us and I couldn't take it so I shouted out "Don't you guys have anything better to do than to stare at Kenzie?!" Everyone was a bit shocked by my sudden outburst. So was I. Then Jeannine said "Girls, let's go into Studio A and practice our dances. Let's give Maddie some time with Kenzie and Maliboo." So they went and James stayed with me. He went on his phone and I saw who he was texting. He was texting Gianna. A little while later I got a message from Gianna. It said

Then the Ambulance arrived and I had to move away a bit so I held onto Maliboo who was scared by all the people and when they said "Who is coming to the hospital with us?" I said "I am." So me and James got in the ambulance with Kenzie and I said "Brooke, can you look after Mailboo please. Brynn can help. That's what Kenzie will want. Thank you." And I saw them nod so I knew Maliboo was in good hands. Then I went to the hospital with Kenzie.

Gianna's POV:

I can't believe what happened to Mackenzie. She slipped while doing her Front Aerial. And I can't be there to comfort Maddie or the other girls. I think I am going to get this audition out of the way quickly so I can get home. Where I belong. In the morning I am going to watch the combination a couple of times and then choose 4 dancers to join the team.
