(warning: sewer slide, homophobia, abuse)

(disclaimer: as far as i know, this specific situation didn't happen. however, stuff similar happens so fucking often, so don't take it lightly. please, dear gods please learn from this poem. because it's more than that, it's more than just a story. it's a message.)

in a room of teenagers, all drunk as shit

there are two that have a secret

they're in love with each other, but neither of them know

that they make one another cry into their pillow

but during this night, those two may see

that they're not alone in wanting to set their hearts free

because dumb, drunk brains do dumb, drunk things

but dumb, drunk brains like spreading their wings

so soon enough, questions are asked

and soon enough, spells are being cast

so when the turn falls upon one with flaming, red hair

she turns to her brother and asks "truth or dare?"

he hesitates a moment, but after "truth" had been said

the plan she had formed was sprouting through her head

without a second to spare, she asked who he liked

and across the boy's face, a deep blush spiked

he took a deep breath, then turned to one of his friends

thoughts were racing, scared that their friendship would end

but he pushed that down and looked into those eyes of blue

and, suspense rising, he finally said, "you"

the friend smiled a little, looking surprised but pleased

while the other, embarrassed, shoved his face in his knees

after a long pause and moments of silence

he looked up again, scared by the quiet

but he did not see disgusted expressions, as he had thought

instead, everyone was grinning, drunken or not

then he looked over at his long-time crush

and that soft smile, as always, turned his heart to mush

and when he finally said that he liked him back,

he felt giddy, complete, mended of any crack

they lived happily ever after, i wish i could say

however, their lives did not go such a way

they never stopped loving each other, no matter what

and they had their fights, but always made up

their relationship was perfect, that isn't where it went wrong

rather, the boys' parents were what stopped them from staying strong

ones mother tried defending them, but couldn't succeed

because she was knocked out as the father seethed

there was nothing to be done as the couple was kicked out

there wasn't a single thing right as they were followed by drunken shouts

so they ran, and they ran, away into the night

holding on to each other to make sure they were alright

but that night in the park, as they sat in despair

nowhere to go, hands in their hair

the one with freckles finally snapped

and the other could only watch as he opened his bag

they looked into each others' eyes like they did during that party

but there was no joy, only bitterness and one final "sorry"

but they couldn't live without one another, so if one had chose death

then the other would follow, with only one regret

he wished they could have grown up and had a child

but as they sat shivering, the pain growing mild

he knew it was impossible, and there was no going back

so he simply laid down and made another slash

and with his last bits of energy, he turned around

and looked into the eyes of the boy on the ground

as blood pooled around them on that dewy grass

and streetlamps around them flickered and cars simply passed

he smiled to himself, the pain meaning nothing

because at least he would die looking to the stars with his lover

and as he said "I love you" with his dying breath

the other would never respond, too quickly consumed by death

the police found them the next day, summoned by the heartbroken sister

and they were taken away without another whisper

remember those boys, learn from their pain

and for fuck's sake don't let their deaths be in vain

and even if it maybe got kinda gory,

i hope you enjoyed my tragic love story
