《Tempest || l.s. ✓》Chapter 39

Harry sat down on Gemma's sofa, taking the tea with a small "thank you."
"Mum and dad hate me because I'm gay." Harry blurted out, slapping a hand over his mouth. He'd been trying to work out how to explain it all for ages, but it seems all that planning had gone to waste.
"What?" She frowned.
"That's why we stopped speaking. That's why we didn't get along. Because 'I'm disgusting and unnatural' and I 'shouldn't be allowed near you or them'. They said people would catch disease if they even looked my way."
"Why didn't you tell me this? God Harry, I'm so sorry."
"I didn't want to ruin things for you."
"Oh god. Harry, I just- you should've said. I'd obviously take your side."
"But that's it. I didn't want you to have to take a side. And um, there's no point taking a side now. I think I'm moving down south."
"How come?"
"Um, I was on an island down there for a while- that's where I've been. I was just so much happier down there. And I may have met someone. I'm going to talk to him so I don't know which day things will go and if I'll move down or not. But I needed to talk to you first."
"If you move down there I'm moving down with you."
"No, no. Gemma you can't. I mean you can, I can't stop you, but you can't. Niall and Liam have already said they'd move down with me. I can't just turn everyone's lives upside down."
"Harry, it's not like I have anything keeping me here. Plus, I never got the chance to tell you but I've applied for a job further south. So I might be moving down."

A smile blossomed upon Harry's face. He could move away from this awful life and live a different one with all the good aspects remaining. It was perfect.
"Tell me about this boyfriend of yours then."
"He's not my boyfriend. He's just someone I'm in love with." Harry huffed. "And I don't know if he feels the same way or not. So all in all it's a bit of a potential shit show."
"I'm sure everything will be alright. He wouldn't be a dick about it, would he?"
"No. He's too sweet. I'd just feel like a twat."
"Are you ever gonna tell me why you went there?"
"I don't know. I want to because I don't like hiding it from you but I don't want to upset you."
"I think I'd rather know the truth."
"Really?" Harry bit his lip, furrowing his brow.
"Yeah. I think so."
"I wasn't...like, I wasn't happy with my life. And I wanted to end it, but not here. Needed to be somewhere else you know. But Louis stopped me. I'm okay now. Like I'm getting there."
"Oh my god. Harry, I'm so sorry. Christ, I wish I could've done something. I'm so glad you're still here." She gushed, immediately pulling him up and into a hug.
"Me too. I'm glad I'm still here too." Harry admitted, this was something he'd never thought he'd say.
Gemma just squeezed tighter, rubbing her hand up and down his back. "I love you H. I know I've been a bitch about the whole you and parents thing but I love you. I'm always here for you, just talk to me."
"Thank you so much Gems. But can we talk about something else. Trying not to dwell on it."

"Let's talk about your almost boyfriend."
"His name's Louis. And he might not almost be my boyfriend."
"What does he look like?"
"Hot." Harry said without thinking, his cheeks flushing red. "I mean, it's very hot in here."
Gemma let out a laugh. She felt sick that Harry even felt that way, but just the fact he was still here was enough. She had to enjoy his presence, and this was the person she'd missed.
"Do you have a photo?"
Yes, of course he did. Harry's camera roll was basically a shrine to Louis at this point.
Harry nodded, getting up a picture and holding his phone out.
"Okay, he is hot." Gemma agreed and Harry scowled.
"Back off."
"Don't worry H, he's all yours." She held up her hands in defence, suppressing a laugh.
"I'm scared." Harry admitted, "what if he doesn't like me back?"
"Then he'll just tell you. You said so yourself that he wouldn't be a dick about it."
"Won't save me from being embarrassed."
"You won't know unless you try. That's all I can say."
Harry shrugged, "I s'pose so. I just really, really like him and I don't want to ruin things. I just, I want a life with him. With him on that island."
"God, you really are in love, aren't you?" She teased.
His cheeks flushed red and he sunk into the sofa. "Can you blame me? He's the loveliest person I've ever met."
Gemma just grinned, ruffling Harry's hair. "Another cuppa?"
"Yes please." Harry nodded, following her to the kitchen and sitting down at the table. "Um, tell me about you. Since I've been gone obviously, I knew you before."
"Really? I had no idea I knew you." Gemma put on a shocked face, replying sarcastically.
"Stop it." Harry pouted.
"Not much has happened really. Had a small fling but we broke up. Applied for a new job as you know. Nothing else really, just the usual."
"You should've been more interesting." Harry shook his head, "you know, like got a tattoo or dyed your hair or bought a pet goat."
"I'm very sorry I wasn't more interesting. But although tattoos are sick I don't fancy having as many as you do."
"I want more tattoos. I've got a few drawn out."
"God you're gonna become more ink than blood soon." Gemma joked.
Harry just laughed a little. "I know. But I like it. I've missed you."
"I've missed you too." Gemma smiled softly. "Don't leave again without telling me exactly where you're going so I can contact you."
"Okay. I won't." Harry said honestly.
