《Tempest || l.s. ✓》Chapter 34

It was tipping it down outside. The wind nor rain hadn't stopped all day, keeping the trio inside.

Harry had stayed in his room, seemingly not wanting to interact with the other two. Louis had stayed nextdoor in the mostly empty pub, Zayn accompanying him.

Harry hadn't come down for any meals, instead texting Louis to ask if something could be left outside his room instead of Louis was cooking.

Louis obliged, wanting to see if he could get any interaction from Harry. Harry had barely answered when Louis asked if he was alright, just mumbling a "yeah, 'm fine."

Louis knew that meant he wasn't fine, but after asking if he could come in Harry simply repeated that he was fine.

Louis couldn't do much more and unfortunately he had to stay in the pub. He'd texted Harry before he went to bed but he didn't get any reply. He only knew Harry was still in there from the occasional sounds of movement.

are you sure you're okay? you can talk to me about anything

Around an hour after that, and after Louis had drawn his curtains across and climbed under the crisp covers- chasing after sleep- his door creaked open.

Louis opened his eyes, squinting as the blinding light from the hallway flooded in for a split second before the door came to a close.

Harry was trudging across the stretch of Louis's room. A small amount of moonlight trickled in through the gap in the curtains, illuminating Harry's face.

Propping himself up slightly, Louis turned to look at Harry properly. Silvery stains were glistening against his flushed cheeks, and more tears continued to roll down his cheeks.

Louis noticed that Harry's trembling lips were pressed together in an attempt to stop the sobs and whimpers from escaping. He kept his arms wrapped around his waist as he shuffled across the floor.

"What's wrong darling?" Louis furrowed his brow, pulling back the covers for Harry to get in.

Harry shook his head, clambering in and immediately wrapping his arms around Louis's small waist and burying his head in the crook of Louis's neck.

"Speak to me love. There's been something bothering you all day. You've not even left your room."

"Bad day." He managed to get out, "really bad day."

"Is it anything in particular?" Louis murmured, stroking Harry's back soothingly.

"Happens sometimes. Just everything. It gets overwhelming."

Louis pulled Harry a little closer, keeping his arms around him tightly. "Do you want to try and sleep it off?"

"I don't know." He squeezed his eyes shut, trying not to release a sob.

"Sweetheart, let it out. There's no point keeping it in."

"I-I can't do th-this-" Harry's hands balled up, gripping onto the back of Louis's top.

"Darling, it's okay. You can do this. It's a bad day, not a bad life."

"I feel like, like, I feel like fucking shit Lou."

"C'mon H, try and breathe for me. We don't want you having a panic attack." He placed one of Harry's hands against his chest, "you can feel me breathing, yeah?"

Harry nodded, his eyes completely glazed over with the tears that just kept coming and his lips were parted, quick and uneven breaths spilling out.

"Okay, try and match your breathing to mine. Breathe with me."

Harry kept his hand there, spreading his fingers out and trying his best to do as Louis said. He concentrated on the soft fabric of Louis's top, the way Louis's chest slowly moved up and down, and the way Louis's hand was gently placed on top of Harry's.

He finally regained a normal breathing pattern, collapsing forwards into Louis.

"Let's try and sleep, shall we? I think that might be the best thing right now. We can talk about this tomorrow if you want, but we don't have to."

Harry simply slid down the bed wordlessly, just giving a singular nod.

"How much have you drunk?" Louis asked softly as he caught a waft of cherry wine.

Harry looked at him with alarmed eyes.

"Hey, don't worry. I'm not judging you."

"Not...I didn't drink much. 'm not tipsy or anything. Just helps sometimes but I thought it might be better to come see you before things got too out of hand." He admitted quietly.

"I'm glad you did." Louis said, silently wondering what Harry actually meant by 'too out of hand'.

"You smell nice." Harry's voice was croaky yet soft.

"Thanks love." Louis chuckled lightly, squeezing Harry once.

Harry turned his head so it was pressed between the pillow and Louis's neck, face pressed into the mattress.

"Goodnight H."

"Goodnight Lou."

"Harold, do you fancy going on the boat today?"

"Really?" Harry, who had previously been slumped against the kitchen table, immediately perked up.

"No." Louis deadpanned and Harry pouted. "I'm joking, of course we can. Do you mind if Zayn comes?"

"I don't mind, no. I've never been on a boat. Except for the ferry of course."

"Well today's your lucky day Bambi."

Harry grinned but it faltered, "I don't want to talk about yesterday right now."

"We don't have to." Louis reassured him, looking to the door as Zayn walked in. "Morning mate."

"Morning." He waved to the pair.

"We're taking the boat out, do you want to come?"

An hour later and the three were walking down to the harbour. "Which one is yours?" Harry stood on his tiptoes, looking around.

"That one." Louis pointed and Harry scrunched up his face.

"You've just pointed to all the boats."

"No, that one." He pointed again, not getting any closer to pointing out one singular boat.

"What does it say on it?"

"She's called 'Amphitrite'."

"After Poseidon's wife." Harry hummed.

"Not gonna lie to you, I know fuck all about that stuff. I just looked up the goddess of the sea." Louis admitted with a grin.

Harry giggled, "I don't know that much. Just bits here and there."

"I just know that Aphrodite's keeping an eye on you two." Zayn muttered and both Louis and Harry blushed, Harry ducking his head and Louis flipping Zayn off.

"Erm, yeah. Here she is." Louis stopped as they arrived. Zayn got on, holding a hand out to Harry. Harry took his hand, stepping on and taking a seat. "Okay, if I come crashing into you you're just going to have to recover." Louis crouched down, beginning to untie the boat.

"Yeah, you should probably watch out." Zayn warned, "he's the least gracious person ever."

Louis chucked the rope onboard before throwing himself onto the boat, almost flattening Harry before Harry had time to react.

He let out a sort of 'eep!' sound, making Louis and Zayn laugh.

"Told you he wasn't light on his feet." Zayn shrugged.

"I thought you were exaggerating." Harry pouted. "You could've had somebody's eye out."

Louis crouched in front of him, faking a frown as he took Harry's face in both hands. He pretended to observe each eye before standing up and pressing a small kiss to Harry's forehead. "Both eyes are still there."

Harry's smile grew so bright that Zayn didn't have the heart to poke fun at their obvious pining after eachother, just sitting back and watching with his own smile.

Louis finally removed his hand from Harry's cheek and made his way to the wheel. "If anyone gets seasick there's a bucket in the corner." He nodded to the corner with a hint of a smile as he started up the boat.

And with that they were off.
