《Toxic Thoughts》Chapter 19: Escaping Hell

Seeing the house he hated so much come closer and closer was a dreading feeling. When they turned to park in the driveway, he almost didn't find the strength to leave the car. His father slamming the door shut next to him somehow woke him up from his trance and he unbuckled his belt, pushing the door open as he saw his dad take his bag from the backseat.
"You know, I was actually quite surprised when your mom told me you wanted to come home this weekend! Did you miss your old folks that much?" Masaru laughed as they walked up to the front door. So that was the lie his mother told him this time around huh?
"Yeah, like you said old man, it's been some time since we last saw each other" Katsuki sighed, watching his father open up the front door and push himself inside.
The ash blonde teen took a deep breath, walking in behind the clueless adult and closing the door behind him. Trapping himself in hell, or so it felt.
"Your mother is in the laundry. She would appreciate it if you went to say hello" Masaru smiled as he hung his cloak away. 'Yeah and I would appreciate not getting hit the moment I walk in but that's not gonna happen either now is it?' Bakugou thought bitterly as he grunted and kicked off his shoes.
The walk towards the laundry room felt like walking to your own death. Knowing what was to come, he braced himself as he walked into the room, finding that witch folding up clothes from the machine and putting them in little sorted out piles. She hadn't noticed him yet, just focussed on the task at hand.
"Hey old hag, I'm home" he spoke. Where he found it in himself to still insult her was a question he didn't ask himself.
The word home, on the other hand, left a bad taste in his mouth, sour almost. It didn't feel right to call this place his home, it had never felt like that anyways. No, this house was a prison, it was hell. Mitsuki tuned around, a scowl on her face. What can he say? He learned from the best.
"You really are an ungrateful brat!" she hissed, marching up to her son and slapping him across the face.
It left a stinging sensation in his cheek, a burning pain that lingered for a few seconds after the hit. Katsuki didn't react to it however. He was used to a lot more.
"How dare you talk to your own mother with that tone!" she continued, punching him in the chest, making him stumble back a bit.
"And the way you talked to me on the phone yesterday... Just disgraceful! You really need to learn where your place is the hard way, don't you?!"
She kicked his leg, making him hiss in pain as she walked past him in a fury.
"You better make sure that laundry is done before I come back or you're sleeping in the basement tonight, got it?!"

Katsuki knew he would end up in the basement either way, no matter how hard he tried to avoid punishment. He just wasn't good enough for her... Yet he did the laundry, folding and sorting everything out, putting it into neat piles.
When he was done with that, he started bringing it to his parents' room, knowing his mother would want him to do that next and if he didn't do it, he'd get punishment. He put everything away in their closet and returned downstairs, only to hear the old hag scream his name from the kitchen.
"What?!" he snapped, glaring at her.
"Don't snap at me like that!" she hissed, throwing a glass at his head.
Katsuki was able to dodge, but the glass shattered on the wall right next to him, sending one of the bigger pieces flying right across his cheek. A big bloody cut was made but luckily none of it got in his eye somehow.
"Are you dodging me?!" she yelled, marching up to him and pushing him against the wall.
"Bakugou Katsuki, you know damn well that everything I do is to strengthen that weak ass of yours! So take a beating when you get one! You might actually learn something more than at that useless school of yours!"
"Y-yes madam..." Katsuki choked out, struggling to breath as she held him in a choke hold.
"Excuses always come too late! They're a sign of weakness! They're accepting you made a mistake and we Bakugou's DON'T make MISTAKES! AM I CLEAR?!" Mitsuki hissed, dragging him with her to the basement. She threw him down the stairs before descending them herself. Bakugou groaned, crawling up from the ground, only to get kicked back down.
"You know your place" she spat, waiting and watching her son make his way to the wall. There were chains connected to it, old burn marks on the floor and wall around it from times he tried to escape and dried up blood trails on the floor. They improved the chains to have quirk erasure cuffs in them when he did escape one time and almost got out of the house through the small basement windows. That's why they have bars on them now...
He was kicked against the wall when Mitsuki's patience ran out. His hands were bound together by the chains, holding his arms up as the rest of his body slumped down. To finish off her personal punching bag, she put a muzzle over his face so nobody would hear him scream. It was disgusting and cold and Katsuki hated everything about that thing. Yet that was soon forgotten when his mother started kicking him.
She yelled and shouted, calling him names, insults. It was kinda hard to listen to them while she kept on hurting him, making him bleed and cry. Muffled screams escaped the muzzle, but opening his mouth so wide made him feel like he was choking. Suddenly the sound of the doorbell was heard, muted due to the distance. Mitsuki took a few breaths, quickly straightening up her clothes as she went upstairs.

She was just in time to see her husband open the door, revealing a frail blonde man.
"All Might?" she gasped, immediately walking up to her husband's side.
"To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"Ah, I came to bring over a reading assignment for your son" he said, holding onto some papers.
"There were some issues with the printers yesterday so the students weren't able to get them. It's due to Monday so I'm bringing them around to those that went home for the weekend"
That was the excuse they came up with, at least. It was reliable if you didn't look too much into it.
"How nice! Masaru, go make this man some coffee"
"How kind! But that's really not-"
"We insist All Might" Masaru smiled, vanishing from sight. Now it was only him and that devilish woman...
"Where is young Bakugou? I'd like to hand it to him personally so I can compliment him on his improvement in training!" Toshinori smiled.
"Oh, you just missed him" Mitsuki lied, a fake smile on her face.
"He went out with some of his friends from middle school. It's been a while since they saw each other ever since the dorm system was put in place"
"I see..." the man sighed.
"Keep them talking All Might" he heard through his earpiece.
"Mic reporting in, he's not in his bedroom"
"Not in the bathroom or laundry either" Midnight's voice rang through.
"Cementos and I are in the garden, we're breaking in through one of the windows now" Eraserhead added. The police were waiting on stand by, ready to arrest these people if the heroes found the evidence they were looking for.
"Why don't you hand it over to us, I'll take it to his room so he'll see it when he comes back" Mitsuki said, her hand reaching out to grab the papers. Meanwhile Cementos had broken the chains and the glass of one of the windows. That way Eraserhead could slip in easily, his eyes widening as he saw the state his student was in.
"I found him, he's in bad shape. Arrest them immediately and send over a paramedic to the basement" he spoke into his earpiece as he rushed towards Katsuki, swiftly removing the muzzle to let the boy breathe.
The ash blonde boy choked back a sob as he gasped for air, his arms falling limply at his side as Shouta loosened the chains. Katsuki fell forward, onto Aizawa's chest, unable to stop the tears from flowing as relief washed over him. He heard loud shouts and crashing noises from upstairs, making him whimper. Eraser instinctively wrapped his arms around the boy in order to comfort him and to shield him from the ruckus upstairs.
"Y-you...came..." Katsuki choked out, burying his face into the dark hero outfit.
"And your face is bleeding so be careful" Aizawa stated, pushing him off a little.
"Everything is going to be okay now, Bakugou. We have all the evidence we need"
"T-thank you... Thank you so much!" the ash blonde cried out, clinging onto the black ray of sunshine as Mic came down the stairs, his eyes getting bigger at the scene.
Once the parents were arrested and taken away, Aizawa brought Katsuki upstairs as the police investigated the basement. He was brought to an ambulance and treated on the scene as heroes and police crawled all around the house, taking pictures and confiscating evidence.
"Here" All Might sighed with a small smile, handing Bakugou a protein bar.
"It's basically noon and I don't think you've eaten anything yet"
"...Thanks" he mumbled, taking the food from the former hero and slowly munching on it. He had stitches in his cheek, a large white band aid covering it up. His torso was also fully wrapped up and he had some bandages on his arms and legs as well. Recovery Girl had come down to do her healing stuff and it had drained him of his energy. So much so that he asked All Might if he had any more of those disgusting protein bars.
As he was finishing up his lunch or whatever it was at that point, some inspector friend of All Might stopped by to ask a few questions. Katsuki recognized him from the aftermath of Kamino. He was the one interrogating him back them too. When all that was over, All Might drove him back to school. Katsuki fell asleep in the car though, more exhausted from Recovery Girl's treatment than he'd liked to admit at first.
The other heroes and police were packing up Bakugou's things to send it over to the school later. For now the ash blonde boy was placed into the custody of UA, until everything was sorted out further.
"Young Bakugou, it's time to wake up" Toshinori spoke, gently shaking the student awake. Katsuki groaned, slowly blinking as he opened his eyes.
"We have arrived at UA" the ex-hero said as he helped the blonde out of the car.
"Your classmates were all extremely worried, so I'm sure they'll be happy to see you again"
"Tch... Idiots..." Bakugou mumbled, stumbling a little as he walked. Toshinori walked with him to make sure he wouldn't fall or pass out, opening the door to the common room for him. Everyone had been waiting in the living room ever since Aizawa came to tell them that they were off to rescue Bakugou, so all heads turned when they heard the door open.
Katsuki slowly strolled in, getting sleepy again.
"Uh, hi, I'm back-" he started to mumble, only to be tackled by a group hug and a cacophony of yells.
"Be careful everyone! Recovery Girl healed him but he's still wounded!" All Might warned them, worried for the safety of his students. But Bakugou didn't explode on them. Instead he burst out into tears, giving in to the group hug.
He felt so relieved! Finally, after all those years of torture, he could finally be free! The realisation of that hit him hard and he didn't care who saw him cry at that moment. He was free... Finally free...
