《Toxic Thoughts》Chapter 5: Surprise

Silently cursing to himself, Bakugou applied some make-up to his face and arms. He was planning to changing into something with long sleeves, but you can never be too careful. What was he thinking?! Opening the door like this! But he wasn't... He wasn't thinking... He'd just woken up, he hadn't realised what was at stake yet. Dumb, stupid, fucking rookie mistake!
He groaned to himself, pulling on his skull shirt. It didn't have long sleeves, but the make-up was covering everything up already anyway. Besides, it was the first thing he found and that shitty haired bastard was probably still waiting at his door. With a grunt, he opened the right drawer of his desk, taking out his math book and walking up to the door. As his hand hovered above the doorknob, he realised that none of this was real.
Kirishima wasn't asking for his help with math... He was luring him to the trap. With a deep breath, he swung the door open once more. Whatever those idiots had planned for him, he could take it. He was ready to get it done and over with as quickly as possible.
"Oh, Bakugou, you're done-!" Kirishima smiled, looking a little confused as he noticed the bare and clean arms of the ash blonde. He was sure he hadn't imagined those wounds...
"Oi, take a damn picture if all you're gonna do is stare all fucking day!" Katsuki hissed, snapping him out of thought.
"So where the hell is that dunce face at?"
"He's in the common room! Come on, we'll go get him right away!" Eijirou smiled and started walking. The common room huh? Bakugou huffed. So they could embarrass him in front of the whole class... Great.
"This is the last time I'm helping you losers out, got it? Last time I beat this crap into your brains, dunce face ended up copying all the fucking answers and not learning a damn thing!"
"I promise it won't be like that this time!" Kirishima smiled as they stepped into the elevator. Yeah, cause they're not actually going to work for school and they both knew it.
Katsuki noticed that the red head seemed way too happy, unable to contain his excitement. He was really looking forward to hurting him, wasn't he..? Guess everyone did hate him... It was stupid of him to hope that maybe their relationship was genuine... The small ding! of the elevator notified them that they arrived on the ground floor, the doors sliding open to welcome you into the common room. Katsuki looked around suspiciously. Nothing seemed off at first glance...
That was until Kirishima covered his eyes with his hands, pushing him forward as Bakugou struggled against it.
"Oi! Let me go Shitty Hair! I'll fucking murder you!"
He used his math book to hit his arms, but he simply hardened them. After that he started using explosions, but it was no use either. Damnit that shark boy is strong! Curse their compatible quirks!
There was giggling and muffled laughter in the background, letting Bakugou know that whatever this was, it had already started. After a few more attempts to break free, Kirishima finally let him go, only to run over to the rest of the bunch of morons.
"Surprise!" they smiled as they pointed at the table. It was decked out with various food, fruits and desert like things alike. Katsuki scowl faltered for a moment, giving in to the confusion that overwhelmed him.
"What the hell is this?!"
"We wanted to thank you for cooking for us! So we prepared you brunch!" Mina smiled.

"Everything is fresh and hand made! We got Sato to thank for that though" Denki chuckled.
"You like it?" Sero asked, raising a brow as Bakugou hadn't reacted yet.
"Come on bro, sit, enjoy the food. We put a lot of effort into this"
Kirishima guided him to the table, gently forcing him down in a chair as the whole squad settled down around him.
"You...made this...for me?" Katsuki asked, confused and unsure of how to react.
"Yeah, we really wanted to show you our gratitude" Eijirou smiled.
"Your cooking is amazing so we wanted to try and return the favour!"
So...no prank? No intend to hurt or humiliate him? The only thing they planned on hurting was his diet regime, so it seemed... They seemed to genuine as well... All waiting for his reaction, wanting his approval.
He clenched his fist, his teeth gritting. Why? Why did they all go through such length to make this for him?! He doesn't deserve it! He doesn't deserve any of this! He can't let them get close! He doesn't want to hurt them!
"Wanna try the chocolate? Midoriya warned us you're not really a fan of sweets, but we put some chilli in it so it's spicy!" Kirishima grinned, holding out a piece of chocolate for him to take. He harshly grabbed it, throwing it in his mouth and biting down on it in an aggressive manner.
It was not bad... It was actually pretty good... He liked the flavour, one they made especially for him. Those considerate fuckers... His angry chewing calmed down as he savoured the taste, staring down so he wouldn't have to face their expecting gazes.
"And? Do you like it?" Kaminari asked. Bakugou couldn't answer that. Words couldn't describe this disgusting fluttering feeling in his chest. It made him tear up. He hadn't realised it until the first tear silently rolled down his cheek.
"Bakugou..? Are you okay?" Kirishima asked, his voice careful, quiet, as if not to spook away the wounded and scared animal in front of him. His hand reached out to the blonde, making Katsuki jerk away. He shot up from his seat, glaring at Eijirou, tears and slight fear evident in his eyes. The fear that all his weaknesses would spill out and lay exposed, bare, in front of people he cared about.
The red head was taken aback by the sight and the intense emotion behind it. So much so that he didn't have the strength to stop Bakugou from storming out, hearing the door to the stairs slam shut a moment later. Everyone in the common room had seen what just happened, yet they had a hard time processing it.
"Was Bakugou...crying?" Yaoyorozu asked in shock. She just came downstairs and had seen him as he passed her in the hallway.
"What happened?"
"I-I... I don't know..." Kirishima choked out, his eyes fixed on the now empty seat at the table. The last time he'd seen Bakugou cry was in the aftermath of the Kamino events, yet he had claimed it was just the fucking dust in the air that had flown up during the fight. Nobody had tried to convince him otherwise and none of them had ever talked about it again either.
"I've never seen him like that..." Sero mumbled, frowning.
"Now we prepared all this for nothing!" Kaminari pouted, earning a slap from Ashido.
"Now is not the time to be complaining about that!" she stated.
Meanwhile Katsuki had ran up to the roof, panting from all the stairs he just did as he let himself fall down in the snow. He wasn't dressed for the cold, but he didn't care. Tears streamed down his face as he curled up and cried. Why can't the wind carry away his feelings? Why can't the cold empty his head like it usually did? He just wanted the pain to stop! He sat up, pulling his knees to his chest as he leaned against the cold, metal air vent on the roof.

Normally this sight left him breathless... Normally he could come up here to think and clear everything out. But now his head was just a mess. A turmoil, a storm of emotions raging through. He was unable to explain or recognize them, unable to deny their passing as they rushed through. It was like he was standing in the middle of a tornado, his feelings swirling around him at an incredible speed.
He was unable to grasp it. Unable to even grip a fraction of what was going on around him. But he had reached out anyway, like a fucking idiot. And now he was pulled into the wild current of the wind, being thrown around and brought up into the air. His feelings and emotions suffocating him, supressing any oxygen from reaching his lungs. Like a gas slowly putting him to sleep, killing him. Katsuki lacked the strength to fight it. How would you even fight a tornado? It's impossible...
And so he cried, like a little child that had lost their parents in the mall. Huddled up, shivering. The tears were warm when they rolled over his cheeks, but the cold quickly cut into those watery paths, making him burry his head in his knees. He deserves to feel miserable, not to have anyone to support him or fall back on. He can't let himself grow attached to others, he can't bare the thought of losing them. He keeps his distance, he always had.
So why... Why did they still try so damn hard to get closer to him? Which god had thought he deserved that? It's not like he hadn't always wanted something like that... But for some reason that only made things worse. He was overwhelmed, not knowing what to do, how to react, how to return... He left them sitting there after they put so much work into making him happy. Why would anyone ever want to make him happy? Nobody cared, nobody ever will... At least that's what the old hag always told him...
Nobody likes him, nobody loves him, nobody cares for him... Nobody ever will. Like a mantra, beaten into his skull. How could he not believe her if anyone he'd ever met called him out on his anger and aggression? That's the way he was raised... At first he didn't understand why people were so naive and loving. Why they let themselves so open, ready to be hurt. But he soon realised that it was simply him.
Unable to show affection or love, feelings he'd never been taught before. Unable to make friends without hurting them, because that's the only way he'd ever known. He didn't want to, but somehow he always ended up doing so... That's why he pushed Deku away, why he's been pushing everyone away ever since. He sobbed, the cold having numbed his body at this point. He was unable to get up and face reality, he didn't want to either. So he just sat there... Alone...
During that same period of time, the squad had started to put everything away in Tupperware containers to preserve the food. They stacked them on top of each other in a larger box in silence, unable to explain what just happened.
"Do you think it might have been happy tears?" Kaminari wondered out loud.
"He didn't seem mad or angry..." Sero added, also thinking about it.
"Yeah, maybe he just doesn't want to admit he's a big softie!" Ashido giggled, forcing a happy atmosphere around them.
"I'll go bring this to his room, see if he still wants it or not... Otherwise we can stack it in the fridge and eat it later" Kirishima shrugged.
"Wait up, I'll come with" Denki said, holding onto Bakugou's math book. Right... He brought it with him downstairs, but he'd never taken it back up.
"I wanna be there too. Sero, you come as well. We all need to be there to apologize for overwhelming him like that. He obviously wasn't expecting it" Mina sighed.
"Yeah duh, that's why it's called a surprise" Kami pointed out as they all stepped into the elevator.
"Maybe this was the first time someone ever did this for Bakugou? Although he didn't struck me as the type to get emotional so quickly" Sero muttered, theorizing out loud.
Kirishima just listened, not really adding anything to the conversation himself. He walked in silence through the hall, trailing behind the others on their way to Bakugou's room.
"Bakugou?" Ashido asked, knocking on his door. No response.
"Please open up... We brought the brunch with us! We could still eat it together if you want, or alone, your choice!"
Still no answer.
"Come on dude! Don't leave us hanging" Kaminari sighed, leaning against the door, only for it to fall open, making the electric blonde fall face first to the ground.
"His door isn't locked?" Eijirou asked confused. Normally he always locked his door... Strange...
"Whoa... I didn't expect Bakugou's room to be this...normal?" Sero whispered as Denki groaned, rubbing his nose as he crawled up.
"Yeah... And it's so clean!" Ashido gasped, walking in.
"Guys, we shouldn't-" Ei protested as Sero dragged him in too.
"We'll just leave the food here with a note saying he can have it! Nothing to get upset about" the tape dispenser stated, closing the door as Kaminari finally stood back on his feet.
"But if you set the food on his desk, where do I leave this?" the fake Pikachu asked, holding the book.
"Hmm... He probably keeps his school stuff in his desk, since the top is so clean" Mina said, opening both drawers at once. And indeed, she was right. One of the drawers was filled with school work. Yet the other-
"Whoa, did Bakugou draw this?" Kirishima breathed in surprise, seeing some of the drawings of landscapes. They looked so peaceful and calm... So pretty...
"I didn't know he could draw! These are great!" the pink girl gasped as she took some of them out to show the others.
"Guys, I don't think we should touch his stuff... Besides, where is he anyway? He ran upstairs, right? If he's not here, where is he?" Kirishima asked confused as he took the drawings and put them back in the drawer.
"Good question" Kaminari mumbled as he opened up the door to the toilet.
"My God, this guy has more make-up than you Mina!"
Ashido gasped, once again, taking some of the tubes and bottles.
"These are so expensive! The quality! Look at this! I could put this foundation on and you wouldn't even be able to see my pink skin through it!" she gaped. Kirishima's thoughts wandered back to how his injuries suddenly disappeared. So that's how he did it... Make-up.
It only made him more worried though. How long has Bakugou been hiding all of this..? What else is he hiding from the world..?
