Don't you ever say that, I was there for you when you weren't even there for yourself.

~ Scarlett's POV ~

"She's already replaced me."

I said on the phone to Jaden, I was rummaging through my closet trying to look for the perfect outfit for school today.

Jaden was just sitting on his bed, he was already dressed when I had called him so it was just me.

"Maybe she's missing you and is trying to get you off her mind?"

Jaden suggested but I shook my head, all my photos were deleted and she blocked me on all socials.

I found the perfect outfit and went on pause, I sighed as I got dressed.

Layla and I have known each other for years and all of a sudden she gets the opportunity of a life time and I'm a speck of dust compared to her.

I understand that I wasn't famous or even that pretty to begin with but friendship should not dwell on that.

I sighed as I fixed my hair into a bun and let some hair down, I didn't do any makeup.

As I was lacing my shoes up, I heard some shuffling noises coming from my phone so I looked over.

"What in the world are you doing?"

I asked as I finished getting ready and was now holding my phone, I walked downstairs as I realized Jaden had dropped his phone.

"I just dropped you, hold on."

Jaden responded as he crawled under the bed and grabbed his phone again, he looked at me and smiled.

I laughed a bit and set my phone up on the counter to show him the complete outfit of the day.

He motioned me to turn around which I gladly did, he began to hype me up.

"You own a lot of skirts, did you know that?"

Jaden asked as I made myself lunch and began to make breakfast.

"I mean it's my closet Jaden, I think I know what I own and don't own. But it's still shorts and skirts weather."

I responded with a chuckle, I packed my lunch and grabbed my strawberry yogurt.

I poured some M&Ms, I grabbed a spoon and went to the living room.

"So, you're still on bad terms with Layla?"

"Yes, yes I am and we will stay on bad terms until I am over it or until she apologizes."

I replied quickly, now that Layla's back, we would be going to the same highschool together.

If we were friends, I would have told her I could drive us to and back from school but we aren't so she can walk.

After I finished my yogurt, I hung up and grabbed my bookbag, lunch and keys.

I slipped my phone in my pocket and went out of my house, I watched as Layla walked out of her house.

She smiled my way and waved, I thought to myself for a moment, maybe she was going to apologize.

I watched as she walked over to me, I smiled big but it faded away when she walked past me and got into the car of her friend, Kathryn.

I shrugged it off and waited for Jaden before I got inside my car.

Once he was out, I made my way to the car, unlocking it.

I got inside and sighed.

"I saw Layla leave."

He broke the silence, I looked at him and nodded, I was afraid if I spoke that I would begin to sob like a baby.

I don't cry over anyone, especially friends who were never even planning on staying in my life anyways.

"So did I, is Javon coming with us?"

I asked as I changed the subject, I didn't want to talk about Layla good or bad.

She's still human and didn't deserve the hatred that I was so badly wanting to give to her, it just wasn't right.

"Nah, he's walking with Jayla."

I nodded at his response and we drove to the school, once we arrived, I parked the car and walked with him inside.

I checked my schedule to make sure that I didn't have any rough classes.

I put the books that I am not going to need in my locker and walked to the cafeteria, I sat with the team as we discussed our practice later after school.

"Scar, we're going to the movies after practice to watch the new Batman movie. Want to join us?"

Jaysean asked, I was happy that the team always invited and included me in the hang outs they have or plans.

I agreed to go, I was zoned out for the rest of the day.

I was still mad at Layla, I'm a petty person and that's just how I work.

When the homeroom bell rang, I was the first one out of the class and walking outside.

That was the first wrong choice, I watched as Layla smiled and laughed with Kathryn.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes as I made my way to my car, I waited for Jaden who always took his time.

I played with my skirt for a bit and sighed, I wished we weren't in a non friends state because I was alone with my own thoughts.

That's when Layla came over, she wasn't smiling or anything so I assumed she was just dropping by to say bye or something.

"Who are you waiting for?"

She asked, it sounded as if there was a hidden message behind the sentence though.

"Jaden, he's taking long."

I replied nonchalantly, I took my phone out and began to spam him to get out of the school.

Layla didn't move though, she stood right there as if waiting to catch me in a lie.

"Something else you need or are you just going stand there and stare me like a creep?"

I asked with anger laced in my voice, I bit my tongue before I could say anything else disrespectful although only the universe knew how bad I wanted to make her understand how she made me feel.

Layla looked at me and waved Kathryn over.

"This is Kathryn, remember her from middle school?"

Layla asked with a petty smirk dancing on her lips, I was about to smack her but kept composure considering we were still on school grounds.

But how was supposed to forget?

Kathryn had everything, perfect home, perfect parents and perfect grades.

I nodded my head and flashed a smile at Kathryn as I watched as Jaden finally came out of the school.

He was going to get an ear full when we were in the car, but he was with Javon.

"Kat's been there for when I was in Euphoria, always checking in on me and everything. Isn't she great?"

Layla said making my blood boil, I rolled my eyes and smiled as the twins finally made their way over.

I unlocked the car and was about to get in when Layla said something she shouldn't have.

"Considering you were never there for me anyways."

I turned around faster than the speed of light and got in her face, normally I was always the calm one but she stroke a nerve and I was done.

Don't you ever say that, I was there for you when you weren't even there for yourself.

It was true, Layla was at her darkest times when we were freshmen.

Her mom was laid off of work, her father was being put into rehab after overdosing and her brothers couldn't seem to care for her.

I was there for her every step of the way, Cora as well.

When she was threatening to leave me alone, I ran over to her house every single freaking night to make sure she was safe.

When she didn't feel like she was ever going to see the light at the end of the tunnel, I brought the light closer to her.

So how dare she say that.

I didn't even realize tears were streaming down my face until Jaden grabbed my hand and pulled me inside of the car.

He wiped my tears and hugged me, I pulled away after a short moment.

I drove off and stood quiet the whole ride home, she's replaced me and betrayed me.

Maybe I was too nice to her and allowed her to do what she did to me.

But not anymore, I could care less if she were stranded in a desert and I was the only one she could call.

She has ruined the little bit of doubt I had for her.
