Rebekah was absent in English class today. Not like I care infact I was glad to see that she didn't come to class as it would be real difficult to stay away from her when it was more of a habit now to sit together in the English lectures.

It was 3 in the afternoon when I was completing my Economics project which the teacher luckily agreed to collect in the next week although I was 2 days late. I had 3 days left to complete my project which was more than enough as I was almost done with it.

Austin and Rey were sitting on the floor busy playing PS4. Suddenly there was a knock on the door.

I waited for them to open it but when they seemed unaffected, I closed my book and went towards the door quickly as the knocking went continous. As soon as I opened the door, Rebekah was standing in front of me holding a pizza box in her hand.

Her blue eyes glistened at the sight of me. Just then I realized how much I had missed her sweet face.

It was just a fraction of a minute when realization dawned upon me. I had to control my feelings if I were to stay away from her.

I passed her a small smile before making my way back to my study table leaving the door open. I quickly opened my books to avoid any conversation with her.

She awkwardly entered the room and after giving a quick high-five to both her best buddies she sat on my bed looking towards me. I couldn't withstand the burning gaze that was settled on me.

So I gathered my books and after putting them in my bag I got up from my seat and made my way towards the door. "Where are you going?",she asked me while standing up from the bed.

"To the library. I need some books for reference so it would be better if I just study there itself." "Okay. Even I'll accompany you. Come, let's go", she said while taking her purse and car keys that were lying on the bed.

"No", I said quickly even before she could complete her statement. Not to sound rude I further continued, "I mean you can't come along. April is accompanying me and she needs some help with her needs."

I was internally praying that she doesn't insists me any more to let her accompany me. I was relaxed when she nodded her head in understanding but I could see the displeasure on her face.

I quickly left the hallway in an attempt to avoid any more any interaction with her. I made a mental note to call April once I was done with my studies to cover up the lie I just spoke in front of Rebekah.

It was almost 6 when we completed playing almost 4 games on the PS4 but Rex had still not returned from the library. My eyes now and again darted on the door in a desperate desire to see him entering in the room.

I missed him. It was almost a day since I had properly talked to him.

Last night I called him to ask if he would come for a walk but he didn't receive my call. Maybe he was asleep I thought.

I don't know why but it feels that he is ignoring me. This doubt grew more clearer when I came in the room today.

He didn't even look me in the eye. I am being on my best behavior from the past few days and have done absolutely nothing to piss him off.

But then maybe I am overthinking. It is quite obvious that I have started expecting things from him but I shouldn't forget that he has his studies to keep in par with the fun he is having these days.

I know how much his grades matter to him and I completely respect it. I was pulled out of my thoughts when there was a knock on the door.

I eagerly jumped from my seat and almost ran towards the door. I opened the door to find it was April.

All my excitement just disappeared and it's place a puzzled look inhibited my face now. "The look on your face says that you saw a jigsaw puzzle in front of you. Wasn't expecting me here?", she said to me while making her way inside.

I was about to ask her why isn't Rex with her when Rey turned from his sitting position to look at us and said, "Come here guys. Which movie do you'll want to watch?" I just looked at her as if I had seen a ghost still comprehending what the heck was happening.

April went towards Rey and hugged him before saying, "Thanks for calling me here. I was getting bored sitting alone in my room." After listening to what she just said the little patience that I had vanished and I abruptly spoke, "Weren't you in the library with Rex?"

She scrunched her eyebrows in confusion before saying, "Why would I be in the library when the semester is almost 4 months away. I know that Rex is my bestfriend but that doesn't mean that I am a bibliophile like him." She then giggled finding amusement in her own words.

I saw Rey looking at me with a confusing look. I just smiled at him and excused myself to get some fresh air.

I went into the garden and sat on one of the benches not really understanding what to think. Should I be angry that he lied to me or should I think about the stupidity that I did this time to drive him away from me.

I looked at the small birds in front of me carrying the twigs lying on the ground and flying to the tree where they were building their small nest. Looking at them made me completely forget about my problems.

Just then I saw Rey approaching me right behind from them. "Hey, what are you doing here? Come inside. We are watching Harry potter on April's demand."

"You go and watch. I am not in the mood", I said sounding irritated wanting him to take a clue and leave me alone. Instead he sat besides me on the bench forcing me to look at him.

"Speak", he said while turning me back again when I stubbornly turned again to watch the birds. "There is nothing to speak about. No matter how hard I try I end up disappointing him. He is clearly ignoring me and I don't even know the reason. How dumb does that make me look", I said while biting my lower lip to stop the tears that were threatening to come out of my eyes.

"He's a jerk Rebekah. Stop letting him torment you. Look at you, how vulnerable you look. You have changed and it is because of that son of a bitch. And he still isn't satisfied. You are Rebekah fucking Williams. Don't shed those precious tears for some dick like him. He doesn't deserve you in my opinion", he said while holding my hand making me stand on my feet. "Come let's get you some ice-cream to sober that fucked up mood."

I just smiled at how useful Rey was trying to be.

I was sitting in the library trying hard to focus on my economics project. Rebekah's face kept coming in front of my eyes every time I tried to write something in my journal.

Maybe a little reading will help to divert my mind from her, I thought making my way to one of the shelves to get a book. After looking at a few books I finally decided on reading "The Great Gatsby" even if I had read it a thousand times.

As I pulled the book, someone else also pulled the book at the same time from the other side of the shelf. I left hold of the book just to see that it was taken hold of by a girl who had honey brown hair and the most beautiful green eyes I had ever seen.

She passed me a small smile before coming to my side and offered me the book. "Here, take it. I will pick something else."

I scratched the back of my neck and said, "No it's fine. Anyways I have read it before. So you can have it." I was about to walk way when she said, "And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer."

I looked around almost instantly and found her looking towards me and holding out the book in front of me. I caught hold of the book and asked her, "So even you have read it before. I see."

She walked with me towards my table and said, "I would be a fool to be a literature student and not having read this book." Her accent was quite different and she seemed British to me.

She sat with me on my table and we had a small chit-chat wherein I discovered that her name is Iris and she is a resident of Seattle itself and is in senior year. She is an Econ major and aspires to be a market research analyst.

She then asked me if I wanted to accompany her to a nearby ice-cream parlour. I first thought of declining her offer but she was acting as a good distraction from my mind that keeps running back to Rebekah so finally I agreed.

We went to Sugar Bites ice cream parlour which was just around the corner. I ordered a salty caramel blondie for me while Iris ordered a milk and cookies flavour for herself.

We took our orders and sat on a small table in the extreme corner of the parlour. The parlour was small but cute with cut- out clouds and pastel blue walls.

Shiny convex mirrors decorated the millennial blue decor of the parlour. I was laughing when she told me that I had a nose of a dwarf and continued her tease game by applying ice cream on the tip of my nose.

I shushed her away to get some tissues for me from the Barista when the door open and my eyes fell on the person whom I was fleeing from a long time now. My smile disappeared when I saw that her eyes were blood red as if she had just cried.

She looked at me and her face just grew a hundred times more pale. Rey saw the two of us sharing a glance when he quickly held Rebekah's hand and took her to the counter to place an order but her eyes were still fixated upon me.

I was dreading her reaction when she would see Iris and it was at that very moment when Iris returned with the tissues in her hand. When she saw that I wasn't paying attention to her she took the tissue in her hand and started wiping my nose.

At this point I took the tissues from her hand and told her that we needed to leave. I could see the blood boiling in Rebekah's eyes and that urged me to hurry.

Iris looked a bit perplexed first but when she saw me looking at Rebekah she suddenly agreed as if understanding my unspoken statements. We were about to leave when Rebekah jerked away Rey's hand and made her way towards us.

"Oh now I see why you didn't want me to accompany you to the library. So this was your pending work?", she said while eyeing Iris from head to toe in complete judgment. Iris was offended by her behaviour and she was just about to speak when I caught hold of her hand.

She looked at me and I told her to stay quiet by squeezing her hand slightly. Rebekah was furious by now and I could literally see her nostrils flaring.

"What now? Is she your substitute for me? Look at her Rex. She looks like a bitch even when she is pretending to be all civil in front of you." At this Iris pushed my hand away and pointed a finger straight towards Rebakah, "Mind your language you snobbish little brat."

Then she looked at me and continued, "Keep watch of the company you keep. You are way too good for even being a friend to her let alone being her boyfriend." At this Rebekah slapped her hard to which she lost control of her feet and bashed her face on the table.

When she retrieved back to her normal form, there was a small cut on the side of her lips. By now Rey took hold of Rebekah and took her out of the parlour before she could cause a seen anymore.

I took my handkerchief and offered it to Iris while saying a sorry to her, completely disappointed by the way Rebekah treated her. She just passed me a small smile before saying, "I understand. Girlfriend issues right? Been through this before but just was the one causing the scene."

She chuckled lightly before I interrupted her, "She isn't my girlfriend. It's complicated actually." She dabbed the handkerchief on her lips before saying, "Doesn't seem to be. She is pretty possessive about you. Hell she kicked my ass just because I grabbed an ice-cream with you. Hell this is more than possessiveness. Maybe she loves you. Anyways catch you around later."

I couldn't stop thinking about what Iris just said. But I was too mad at Rebekah than to flatter myself by what Iris said which might not even be the truth.

I walked out of the parlour taking huge steps to where Rebekah and Rey were standing. On seeing me Rey took a step forward but Rebekah told him to leave us alone which he obliged after passing me a deadly glare.

"What's your fucking problem?", I asked her expecting her to give me a sensible answer. Infact she just laughed making me more angry.

Then she said, "Isn't it insane of you to ask me this question when actually I should be the one asking you this? You lied to me about April accompanying you to the library wherein she was in her room the whole time and later accompanied us to watch a movie. Maybe you forgot to tell her to play her part in this stupid lie of yours. You are ignoring me from yesterday and today when I showed up at your room you fucking left and now you are hanging around with some whore." I had lost all my patience to be civil to her by now.

I pulled her closer to me by holding her arms and said angrily while looking at her in the eyes, "Don't you dare call Iris a whore when you know nothing about her. And yes I lied to you. And it's because you left me no other option. I have a life and I need my space. Stop tagging along everywhere I go." She had tears in her eyes by now. I tried to comfort her but she just pushed me back and said, "I am sorry Rex. I never knew I was suffocating you. I don't know what I did to make you so furious but I know I might be wrong somewhere. You would never behave like this if I was completely innocent. And sorry for slapping Iris. I will make up to her by apologizing tomorrow itself. I am sorry to cause you so many problems. Bye."

She ran to the sideway where Rey's car was waiting leaving me alone to regret my sour words.
