《Angel's Trumpets》5 | the choice

Just then, the door swung open, revealing an antsy-looking woman in an office uniform. Her dark locks flowed in the sudden moving air for a moment and settled down back on her shoulders afterwards. "What are you doing, mom? Why do you need to give out information like that to her?" Gina puffed in annoyance.
Fear and guilt were in her mother's eyes. "I-I'm sorry, I...I t-thought maybe she would understand if I explained the situation throughly." she responded, fidgeting her fingers nervously. "Understand what? She doesn't need to know this bullshit." the girl protested firmly, but it was too late.
"It's no use, Gina Lane. Now tell me, Mrs. Lane, what was your husband up to? It's my father's death, here." Lauren broke in, the will to find out at its highest. Gina was shaking her head with her eyes locked with her mother's, but the old woman didn't care. "You see, your father and the Campbell company were huge rivals. There was a major problem going on between them, which I'm not sure what it is." she started.
"Mom!" Gina cried out. "T-They hated each other so much...so much they planned on killing each other..." Mrs. Lane added, looking at Lauren's change of expressions. Lauren raised a hand up, giving herself time to process this. "Wait, it's not them trying to kill each other. Y-You can't say that because my father would never do that." she corrected. Her voice was shaking but she didn't bother to hide it.
"Lauren Hart, I swear to god, if you fucking try to mess with my family, I'll-"
"Your father...killed my dad. What would you to do if you were in my place?"
"I...I d-don't know."
"Don't say that. You'd do the same, right?"

"S-Shut up..."
Lauren took a deep breath. She slowly stood up from where she was seated and picked her bag up, choosing the right words to articulate. "I truly appreciate you for telling me the truth, Mrs. Lane. I really do." she firstly thanked. "But...you know what? Mr. Lane killed a person. My dad. I hate putting people into trouble but let me be selfish this time, Mrs. Lane." she then said before holding out her phone to them.
"I recorded this conversation. I hate to say this but it's going to the hands of the police." she sighed hesitantly, making them drop their jaws. Gina's little brother speedily shuffled towards his sibling. "Is dad going to jail?" the young boy whispered into his sister's hair, hoping it was all a bad dream. He received a frown from her and let out a depressing sigh.
Mrs. Lane dropped to her knees and cried for mercy, sobbing like a little girl. The Lane family felt like there was nothing they could do anymore. Evidence was in Lauren's hands. Unlucky for them, she had chosen revenge over peace. "I'm sorry. I'm terribly sorry." she muttered and exited their place.
***************
What am I going to do?
It's all ruined.
Our lives. Our jobs...and everything.
We're going to jail.
I knelt down beside my weeping mother and embraced her warmly. I opened my mouth to speak but the words wouldn't come out. I ended up letting out a hoarse groan.
Why? Why us?
If we were just a little richer...
This can't be happening. No.
But I pulled myself together and thought for the second time. No one wants a bad life, but once we get it, we'll have to face it. That's fucking stupid but is there anything we can do about it? No. Shitty karma. I wish...I wish that bastard didn't give my father instructions to kill her father.

The past can't be changed, Gina.
Face it. Face it all and show them you're strong.
We'll get through this.
We can tell the world about that nasty Campbell family. More like Campshit but whatever their fucking name is.
Yup, I'll get through this crap. I'll show them.
***************
Lauren's feet dragged her towards Aiden's house. She knew there were loads of people with the same last name, but she needed to make sure. "I don't like suspecting him, but here I go." she murmured before ringing the door bell. Out came her friend, hair messed up, eyes red and puffy. "Oh hey, what's up?" he surprisingly questioned her presence at his doorstep.
"Why were you at the hospital that day?"
"H-Huh? What? I was hit by a train."
"You weren't in the right senses, were you?"
"How did you-"
"Just tell me, Jay."
"I...y-yeah. What about it?"
"What were you thinking? What made you so upset you didn't see a fucking train pass by?"
There was a minute of silence. "Why are you so aggressive, Lauren? Are you okay?"
"What made you roll on the fucking bed crying like a dying cat? What was bothering you?"
"It was just some f-family issues."
"Bullshit. Just spit the truth out, Jason Campbell. You did something wrong, didn't you?" she clenched her fists tight as tears welled up in her eyes.
Why are you stuttering, Jay? Tell me I'm wrong into my face!

The Apocalypse Show - Dungeon Core
There were lot's of ways that people had predicted that the world would end. A few even had it partially correct. But how could they have predicted it would be a combination of the system apocalypse and aliens. Specifially aliens that wanted to create the equivlant of a TV show about the system apocalypse on Earth. Arthur woke up with a headache and the option to create a character. Most people would have gone with the safe choice and selected to stay a human. Arthur suspected that wouldn't be the safe choice in his new world. Instead he decided to see what other races were available. Eventually he decided to become a dungeon core instead. Of course being a dungeon core comes with a number of challenges. Starting with the fact that he was a giant crystal instead of having a body, managing a bunch of unintelligent minons, and most importantly the reaction of his human neighbors when they discover him. If he can overcome these challenges he may be able to enjoy some of the benefits. Such as the fact that dungeon cores are immortal and he would eventually have an entire army of dungeon minions that would obey any of his commands. Perhaps even find some female companions that are looking for a safe place during the apocalypse. Warning: If this fiction was a movie I'd rate it R for occasional scenes of violence, gore, nudity, and sexual content. This isn't something you would find in the young adult section. This does not mean that this would be rated NC-17 or X, if that is what you are looking for try lewd dungeon.
