Go," I shout as me and Pete race over the frozen lake.
Halfway through and Peter is winning.
I hear the ice start to crack and I stop running.
Peter stops as well and turns to me.
"Buddy come to me," I say fear lacing my words.
I see his hands shaking and he replies "O-ok."
He takes a step toward me but then I hear the ice break and next thing I see shatters my heart.
I watch helplessly as he falls into the ice.
It takes me a few seconds to get to him but I don't see him.
I see that there is a current and it must had pulled him away.
I start frantically searching for him.
Every second that passes makes me more worried.
After a minute of searching I spot him under the ice.
I grab one of my arrows that I had and start hitting it into the ice harder and harder.
After a couple hits it starts to crack and then It breaks.
I grab his hand and panic as I feel how cold he is.
"Peter," I shout "come on buddy wake up."
I put my hand in front of his nose and panic more as I don't feel any air coming from his nose.
His chest isn't rising either so I start doing CPR.
I panic even more as I look at his pale skin, blue lips and sunken eyes.
After what feels like forever but could have only been 2 minutes he starts coughing up the water.
"Well done buddy, come on you got it."
(Peter P.O.V)
I feel water coming from my mouth as I cough.
My chest feels terrible and I'm so cold.

I hear in the distance "well done buddy you got it," and I recognise the voice as Uncle Clint.
I look around with blurry eyes and see I'm laying on the ground with uncle Clint above me with worry etched on his face.
"U-Uncle Cl-clint," I ask quietly.
My voice raw and my eyes dropping with exhaustion.
"Yeah Pete I'm right here okay," I start to feel the cold more and I start shivering but not a lot even though I'm so cold.
"I do-nt fee-feel g-good," I say and start coughing more water out.
"Come on Pete, we need to get you back, I can't carry you because I can't let you fall asleep ok,"
he says.
"Ok," I say as he lifts me from the ground and onto my feet hooking his arm around my waist and my arm around his shoulder.
Everything hurts and I use all my energy not to whimper in pain.
We start walking and halfway there I feel drained and like I'm gonna pass out.
Uncle Clint ends up dragging me while I only lift my feet a little.
Uncle Clint keeps whispering soothing words beside me.
I've stopped shivering and I know that's bad.
We arrive at the shack and I can barely stay awake now.
My head starts to cloud as I see my dad and aunt Nat grabbing me and taking off my hoodie and joggers leaving me in my boxers.
I feel blankets wrapped around me and someone hugging me but I don't know who.
I hear "you need to stay awake for me pete," from the person who is hugging me but I still can't figure out who it is.
I use all the energy I have to stay awake.
Although my attempt fails as I fall into the darkness.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

The Hopeful Project
A pair of twins stumble their way into the world of blood magic, lizard people, and cultivation powered mecha-armor. And by stumble, I mean one of them falls on their face while the other laughs. [Writathon Participant] People read this far? What are you doing down here? Escape! The chapter buttons are over there, stop reading this. No? Fine. This book is an excuse to put a world I spent around 3-4 months of my life building over the pandemic into writing. I was planning on doing the writathon last year, but somehow managed to confuse October and November. Dont laugh, I'm already ashamed enough. This book is about a pair of twins, doing twin things: calling each other names, going to school, learning how to use their blood to become unstoppable, juggernaut, killing machines... You know, twin stuff. It's like if someone stuffed a school arc inside of a tournament arc inside of a war arc. A good time, basically. I hope you enjoy it.
