➰The hidden➰
"I'm lost. I don't know what's going on anymore," Hoseok blurted out, hugging his own knees in horror.
"I think... we're all barking at the wrong tree. We've been so caught up by saving our own skin and was too scared to even find out what truly happened." Taehyung commented, hands placed under his chin, going through his laptop.
"What truth are you talking about? We tried. We searched the internet, past documents and even went to the library in case they published about it on a book but nothing about Janice Zamora." Yoongi gritted his teeth. The lights flickered a bit at the mention of the girl's name.
"She must've killed all of the authors who wrote about her and took down all of the articles to erase her existence." Jin cluck his tongue, shaking his head. "She may be a little girl but she's really smart and unfortunately, a psycho."
"Yes nothing about Janice but what about her family? The Zamora had quite the reputation back in the past century. Surely, there must be something written about them in here..."
"We also checked that before, still nothing. There's nothing on the internet about the Zamora family. I guess they figured out what horror shits happen to you when you know about their family and decided it was best to not post anything on the net." Yoongi shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't know if this will help but earlier at their mansion, I found this lying on the living room. I figured it might be something important so I took it." Hoseok spoke, retrieving a old newspaper from his bag before handing it to Namjoon. Namjoon scanned the paper and blinked, "Here's the only source saying about the Zamora family! If we get lucky, this might be a step closer to the truth, nice job Hoseok."
"Well what does it say?" Jimin softly asked.
"The Zamora earns unbelievable fortune after first born child. Their business have gone way more successful than those of their ancestors. It is said that their first born child is their very own lucky charm. Lucy Zamora and Ryan Zamora had started their business in South Korea and it spread throughout in every country."
Jungkook spoke, "Ryan? Is Ryan the father of Janice? Then how come he isn't on the photo from before?"
"I don't know but doesn't it seem weird?" Taehyung raised an eye brow.
"Listen to this," Namjoon gulped. "The Zamora's business continued to grow until January 23, 1860, Ryan Zamora mysteriously disappeared, two years after he was wed to Lucy."
"He disappeared, like vanished to thin air?" Jimin widen his eyes. "That can't be possible right?"
"If you don't believe that then you will probably won't believe this either. Apparently, not only Ryan had mysteriously disappeared. All of the past Zamora family history, their husbands went missing two years after their wedding date."

"So, every Zamora who was wed had their husbands disappear two years later. Wait, why husbands only?"
Namjoon looked at his friends in horror after reading which made Hoseok more anxious regretting that he asked. "Guys... The Zamora family had a rule that they followed for generations, and that is to give birth to one child, a daughter."
"That's one weird rule don't you think?" Yoongi scoffed, hands running over his hair. "This Zamora family is one messed up shit."
"Wouldn't that be genetically impossible? Like, you can't choose the gender of your child, that's absurd!" Jin shouts frustratedly. "What would happen if they had a son?"
Namjoon only stared at them with a blank face, folding the newspaper in the process. His friends were waiting for his response, "They kill it." The others gasped in terror thinking how could they kill such innocent child.
"But why?!" Jimin almost bursting in tears.
"They consider boys a menace to their family, a bad luck." Namjoon sighed. "It's all so confusing. The Zamora family is rich back in the day, wed to a man who vanishes two years after their marriage, had a rule to only have one daughter."
"And that daughter becomes the heiress of the Zamora family, be wed to yet another man and the whole process repeats." Taehyung added, finally realizing what was going on.
"I don't know about you guys but I have a feeling something happened to Lucy Zamora and Janice, a missing puzzle to the Zamora's secret."
Jimin stood up as he cracked his knuckles. "This is game of tag, us against Janice. We need to find out tonight or we run of time and we all die. If this bitch wants to play, then let's play."
➰➰➰
Here they were, inside the Zamora mansion once again. Only this time, they decided to stick together since it would be dumb to split up, they knew better that Janice would most likely appear during the night. It was dangerous.
"If your flashlights don't start to work, you have five extras on your pockets. And remember to not leave our side."
They passed the wide hallway where the creepy paintings were hung. They had one goal in mind, if they figured out the truth, the curse will be over. The key that was given to Taehyung must have an important message and that was what they were looking for. If they find out what the key is for, the answer is for sure within that.
"No one leaves, let's stay as a group. If someone goes missing, which I'm hoping wouldn't happen, let's look for him together. If your flashlights won't work, you all have five extras on your pockets, jacket pockets and of course the one banded to our heads." Namjoon sternly instructed as they made their way upstairs. All of them agreed, terrified to even utter a word.

They manage to enter the first room which Namjoon recalled to be an unused room for their guests maybe. "Okay guys, let's start searching what that goddamn key is for, stay close like a meter away from each other and if something happens scream and GTFO."
Again, they agreed and now begun the search. Jin and Jungkook checked over the cabinets and closets, Yoongi, Jimin and Hoseok on the bathroom and Namjoon and Taehyung over the bed area. After a few minutes Jungkook spoke, "There's nothing in here, it's completely blank."
"Yeah, you're right. Let's try to check the other rooms." Jin spoke and shrugged his shoulders. His ears perked up when he heard a sound of and old bell ringing from outside. "That's weird, have you guys notice a bell from this town before we arriv—" He turned his head to see no one. He was all alone in the room.
"G-guys?" His voice cracked and took a step back, not knowing what to do. All he knows was he has to get the hell out of the room and find his friends. Then the bell stopped clanging.
He ran as fast as he could, stomping on the floor with every step. He pants and looks around, confusion rose up from his face. Because this wasn't the place he was at a few minutes ago, it was the same house but he knew this place wasn't right.
Jin noticed a girl sitting on the bottom of the stairs, humming a creepy song and stitching her doll up. He wasn't stupid, he knew that the girl was Janice but he didn't know where to go. If he's gonna run in the opposite direction, Janice will follow him and if he goes down, she'll attack.
His thoughts of running was too late when the little girl turn her head slowly, eyes meeting his. 'Shit, she noticed me!' Jin mentally screamed in his head.
"Halika, maglaro tayo!" Janice giggled motioning him to come to her but Jin knew better to not follow her.
"Huwag kang mahiya, sige na maglaro tayo!" She continued to say. Jin never experienced being with Janice first hand so he was trembling like crazy, he wondered how Jimin fought through her.
"Bakit ayaw mo makipaglaro sakin?" Jin starters to regret not following her because her smile faded into a creepy glare, tilting her head to the side still looking at him in the eye. "Kapag sinabi kong maglaro tayo, maglalaro tayo!"
Seokjin took a step back, readying himself to run away as far as possible. When he took the chance to look away, he was greeted by Janice's furious face spatting at him loudly, "Sabi ko maglaro tayo!" She pushed Jin in a strength that a little girl didn't possess. Jin stumbled back at the impact, losing his balance and fell off the stairs.
He never felt such numbness in his entire life, with the last step from the ground, his head hit the cemented floor hard causing him to lose consciousness.
Hoseok heard a weird bell noise from outside. He stood up from the ground after tying his shoelaces and decided to ask what was happening to the people he was with in the bathroom, Yoongi and Jimin. But he didn't see the both of them with him.
"Yoongi hyung, Jimin, don't leave me in here! Come back, remember what Namjoon said!" He rolled his eyes and peeked his head over the bathroom door to see none of their friends was there. He begin to panic. "Guys! Where are you? This isn't funny!"
The bell sound stopped which made Hoseok somewhat relieved, the sound creeped him out. His eyes went wide when he heard stomping outside the room, he hastily went inside the bathroom and locked himself knowing there was somebody outside to get him. He hyperventilated and rested his palms in the sink.
The stomping stopped. Trembling, he reached out for the faucet and was not surprised to see no water coming out. He zipped his bag open and grabbed his water bottle and gulping the water down. "This isn't real... this isn't happening. It's only a one big nightmare." He tried convincing himself.
The flashlight in his forehead began flickering on and off and he wanted to scream so bad but his throat was so dry. When the light disappeared and the dark swallowed the whole room, he quickly fished for the extra flashlight he had on his pocket and lit it up.
When he did, he saw his reflection of the old rustic mirror planted on the wall. He saw a little girl smiling mischievously beside him, holding a doll on her arm. He wanted to run but whatever he did, he was frozen on the floor, he couldn't move a single muscle on his body.
His eyes turned red and a tear came out of his eyes, blood. He thought about screaming for help but before he could open his mouth, a string and a needle appeared from the corner of his lips. He sobbed from the pain but all of the tears coming out from his eyes were blood red.
The needle went back in and out of his mouth, sewing them up with blood seeping out every time the needle touched his skin. His irises moved to where Janice was and she was stitching her doll's mouth with the same creepy smile on her lips.
Hoseok watched as the thread and needle almost reached the other end of his lips but the only thing he could do was to cry. The door flung open and Hoseok's body came crashing to the ground.

Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry.
