《Hex [h.s]》Chapter Seventy-seven

I felt my throat gone dry and jaw dropped open. Harry's eyes searched mine, obviously wanting to hear my answer. Snapping out of stupor, I lowered my head and stared at my feet. What am I going to answer? What am I suppose to do? I thought to my self, panicking inside.
"Lucinda?"
Gathering my courage, I gaze up and smiled. "Don't worry Harry, I'm not in love with you." I laughed softly, playfully hitting him on the arm. Looking away from him, I bit my lip and head for the bathroom. "I'll be taking a bath if you don't mind. If you need me, just knock."
Once the door shut tight, I leaned my back against the hard surface and deeply exhaled. That was close. What made him question me like that? Does he think I love him? Is he serious? Shaking my head, I head straight to the shower, needing a long relaxing bath. The moment I was finished, I debated for a minute. Is he still there? Why is this feeling so awkward?
Taking a deep breath in, I tightly secured my towel and walked out. Silence filled the room, indicating no sign of Harry. Did he left? A bit relieved, I proceed to put on clothes and drying my hair. Ben sleeping soundly at the corner woke up and went directly to my side as I brushed my hair. "Hey boy."
Whining, Ben sat down and cocked his head to the side. Tongue sticking out. "What's the matter?" I asked, picking him up and placed him on my lap. "Do you want to stroll outside? Sorry to tell you buddy, we can't. Someone wants to kill me." It was laughable if you think hard about it. But the sad thing is that...
I burst out into soft giggles, gently pushing his small head away as Ben ticklishly licked my fingers. "Stop it Ben! It'll smell afterwards." The door suddenly burst open making me look up sharply and for Ben to walk away. Harry strode in, a deep frown etched on his face, posture straight. "What's the matter?" I inquired, reaching for the wet tissues placed on top of the nightstand.
"Grace and Zayn requested something."
I turn to face him in interest, "Oh. What is it then?" Letting out a tired sigh, he sat at the edge of the bed and hid his face in his hands. "Other than killing you during the blood moon, they want to burn you afterwards."
"Oh."
Harry glanced at me, "Do you know what that means?" It was my turn to sigh, "Harry, don't worry. If we can fake the killing, you can also stage the burning. I mean, you can control your 'powers' right?"
"That's the problem, they want to do it themselves. Do you know how hard it was to get out of the conversation? They first suggested cutting your head off!"
I couldn't help but swallow, hard. If Harry want Grace killed at the right time, we have to convince her that I'm going to die instead of her. This proves to be very hard since everyone will be there who'll be on Grace's side since they think I'm the last Smith. "Do you have anything in mind?"

He shook his head, "I don't have plans at the moment. I've been waiting for the day to finally come and when it's near I can't seem to think of anything other than death. The death and satisfaction." Another sharp pain erupted in my stomach but I held it in, not wanting to look hurt all the time and that I can hold it myself. "Don't stress yourself too much. I'm sure it'll just come to you."
"And there's another thing." Harry added, abruptly standing up, eyes straight ahead. "You're parents are in the prison cell. In the basement." Hearing him say it so bluntly and suddenly made me speechless for a few seconds until I found my voice again.
"W-what? What are they doing- why are they there? Who put them there?" I questioned, standing up to meet his eyes. "Why are they there? Harry, answer me!"
"I received news from Sonya awhile ago." He stated, walking away to stand in front of the window, hands folded behind his back. It was silent for a few minutes, consisted of me only staring at his back and Harry remaining still. Until he turned to me, eyes emotionless. "They are not your parents."
I laughed. He's kidding. "You're kidding." The seriousness in his eyes didn't fade away, which only made me feel nervous. "A-are you making fun with me Harry?" When he didn't answer, I rushed out of my room. Not caring if Grace or Zayn will see me, let alone fear what they will do of they did. I stopped at the beginning of the staircase that leads to the basement. I've never been inside it or wonder what is in it. I never questioned Harry about it because I never had the thought to do so.
"You shouldn't run without my permission Lucinda. You and I know that's dangerous." Harry whispered in my ear, surprised to see him at my side but at the same time I'm getting used to him popping up in different places. Damn him for ruining what's considered normal to me. Inhaling sharply, I took no heed and went down the dreaded stairs. Into the room where Harry locked my parents in.
The door squeaked open once I pushed it softly, as if the door felt my agony and nervousness. Lights were dimmed, the stench of blood and sweat in one room, the occasional rat skittering on the floor trying to avoid getting stomped. Feeling Harry's strong presence behind me, I continued my venture into the underground room.
It's like a prison down here, metal bars left and right filled the room. I quickly went towards one, hopeful they occupy it. "Mom? Dad?" I gasped in surprise, a skull rolled out of the open, a spider living in the left eye, disturbed. Harry's hands caught me before I fell to the ground in shock. "They're there." He gestured to the next cell, two people sitting on their chairs, bound and gagged. I suck in a breath as I neared them, it doesn't need to take a rocket scientist to figure out who they are. "Mom? Dad?" I echoed out, causing the two of them to move their heads around, looking where my voice came from. "Lucinda?"

"I'm right here." I announced, capturing their attention, eyes diverted to me. "Lucinda!" Mother cried out, mostly in shock than in relief to see me. Harry stepped out of the dark to open the small gate into the prison. Dad's sharp eyes followed every move that Harry made, as if it would intimidate him. If you only knew dad, you wouldn't do that.
I hurriedly embraced dad, happy to see him again after awhile. "Hi dad, it's been awhile." I murmured and kissed his cheek. "Who is this man Lucinda?" Dad demanded in a booming voice, "Do you know him?"
Biting the insides of my cheeks, I deliberated whether to introduce Harry. "Um, this is...Harry, he's a friend of mine." I answered with hesitancy, eyes focused on the floor. Once I looked up, Harry stared at them with disgusted eyes that it took me aback.
"Stop beating around the bush and tell Lucinda the truth."
"What are you talking about? Who are you to tell us that?" Mom inquired fiercely, eyes narrowed at Harry who is never fazed. Never.
"I'd be very careful with my mouth if I were you Mrs. Mackenzie." Harry warned with a cynical smile that would make people wet their pants at the sight of it. "You never know who you're tangling with. Especially if its the devil."
"Mom, please don't argue." I mumbled, more like praying. But they weren't answered since Mom continued to ramble. "Who is this man Lucinda? Why are you with him? Is he your boyfriend?" Boyfriend? What the hell? Just shut up Mom!
"I told you...he's just a friend of mine." I pointed out with a deadpan, too tired to explain me and Harry's relationship further. I'm sure she won't believe me if I even tell her.
The stare she gave me was doubtful, until she directed her gaze back to Harry who looked absolutely calm. "Who are you? Why did you bring us here? Did you kidnap Lucinda too? She should be at prison as of now." At the mention of prison, I became angry. A prison? I was sent to a Mental Institution for crying out loud!
"Have you been blind the whole time or did you know I was going to be sent to an institution? Did you know?" When she didn't answer immediately, I narrowed my eyes at her. "Did you know?" I repeated, demanding an answer.
"What? What is she talking about?" Dad asked her, trying to face her but failed to do so. Mom lowered her head, not meeting my eyes only solidify my own thoughts. It made my eyes water, anger bubbling inside me, blood boiling as it slowly reached its point.
"You knew, didn't you?"
"Lucy, I-"
"Didn't you?!" I yelled out, glaring at her with hate filled eyes. When she bit her lip, I suddenly slapped her face. "You bitch! You knew and you just didn't do anything? I am your daughter for Pete's sake!" I couldn't help but curse at her, for being so idiotic and merciless. "Do you know how they treated me there the first day? Shit! But oh, you wouldn't know that. How would you when you're out there, having fun as if you don't have a daughter who's inside a nuthouse!"
Dad's eyes were wide, wider than saucers if you tell me, when he let everything I said sink in. "Is that true?" He questioned in a small voice, obviously finding the idea unbelievable and absurd. Mom started to cry, but not due to guilt or sorrow, it was in rage. Pure rage.
Angry tears rolled down her red puffy cheeks, eyes narrowed and lips pursed. "I didn't know what was happening to you, the police men said you were insane and needed help. What I did was just trying to help you. Cure your mental illness, rid of all that ghost nonsense off your head. But no, you want me to look like the bad guy! News flash dear, I did all of those things just to cure your head. Sending you to a nuthouse is the last thing that I wanted!"
"Shut your mouth!" Harry snapped, silencing my mother. "You really thing that we would fall for that bullshit? That we're born yesterday? Well you thought wrong, and to think, you're fooling everyone into thinking Lucinda is your daughter. You won't fool me!" This made dad react, head sharply turning to face Harry.
"What do you mean Lucinda is not our daughter? You crazy bastard, trying to make things up?"
Apparently, Harry didn't have time to deal with the questions and focused at my mother instead. Too furious at her to even notice my dad. Why is he mad, it's not his right to be.
Placing my hand on his shoulder, I leaned in and whispered, "What are you talking about, Harry?" Taking my hand, he grazed his thumb over it softly before letting it go. Turning to my parents again, he frowned deeply. "Why don't you tell Lucinda the truth than hiding it all to yourselves?"
"Look here you bastard! I don't know what I did to make you seem so against me, but you're not making any sense. Lucinda is my daughter, my blood and flesh." Dad defended hotly. A sneering look painted Harry's face, strongly amused and disappointed at his words.
"Are you sure? Why not ask your wife? I'm sure she knows Keith Tudor."
At the mention of the said man, mom's eyes widen and suddenly smirked. A sly and amused smirk that I couldn't possibly imagine her doing so. "Ah, I see what you're trying to do." Harry, who must have sense her pretending, he laughed which confused mother. "Please, just don't pretend. We can see right through your lies."
"Honey, what is he talking about? Who is Keith Tudor?" Dad questioned impatiently, obviously not thrilled at being ignored.
"I don't know who that man is! Whatever this guy is doing here, don't believe him! He's trying to tear the family apart! Is this your doing Lucinda? Is this what you want?" Without mercy, I slapped her again.
